Anyone found the most effective way to equip weapons?

I'm of the opinion that dual wielding will bring better stats and will trump the 2 hand damage.

However, 1h sword damage is infinitely better than dual wielding, so I guess it depends on how you are going to play your Arcane Warrior. I'm still curious to see how people are building/playing Arcane Warriors.

I found dual wielding to be more effective once I hit level 12 and got the attack boost to combat magic from the arcane warrior line. (used single blade till then) There is a one handed arcane warrior-only sword (spellweaver) that gives +5 magic, +1 combat mana regen, electrical damage, with two enchant sockets, and a dagger from Shale's personal quest that interrupts spellcasting and gives +6 attack, with two enchant sockets. The combination is very, very effective.

Two handed swords wouldn't be bad if you had warden's keep. There is a greatsword you can craft from there that gives +8 attack, with 3 enchant slots. I used it for a bit, but I found with its slow attack speed I almost *had* to use haste all the time or I got frustrated. :) That said, it still hit quite hard, easily over 85-90 per hit towards the end of the game, I just really preferred the style and animation of dual wielding.

Personally, if single weapon wielding had a faster, two handed grip animation I'd use that instead. It would seem to suit the arcane warrior more.

Question, since I semi stuffed my AW and in a later playthrough hope to get it "right". Arent most DW weapons daggers, and ergo require a lot of Dex? Or am I missing something obvious (I feel I am, like somethings kicking me in the face kind of stupid moment).

A staff. Unless you pimp your dexterity you won't be able to hit a damn thing worth hitting by the endgame. I preffer boosting my caster stats and using Arcane Warrior for the armor and Shimmering Shield.

I'm fairly certain you can dual-wield all one-handed weapons, actually? Slashing weapons, at least. Drag your selected second-hand weapon to the slot on the right side of the slots in the character inventory (the slot you're looking for should be above either the charm slot or the belt slot if I remember correctly, whichever is the highest slot) and equip it like you would any other weapon.

Unless you pimp the dexterity or strength of *any* class in melee, you won't hit a damn thing in endgame. The Strength vs Dexterity of warriors/rogues and the Magic vs Dexterity of my arcane warrior were nearly identical ratios, and I hit very, very reliably. Any form of melee is perfectly appropriate (and extremely effective) for an arcane warrior, you just need to approach it with that role in mind. When i completed the game on my arcane warrior, my stats were:

Strength: 16 (base + fade bonuses)
Dexterity: 40
Willpower: 40
Magic: 42
Cunning: 20 (fade bonuses + a few points)
Constitution: 20

I've soloed every dragon, broodmother, archdemon or any such other boss you can think of in melee. My hit rate even with haste active almost 100% of the time, is about 85%. (according to accomplishments sheet, but that includes spells I believe) In comparison, Allistair is at 81%, and Sten is at 83%.

I'm actually inclined to wonder if the attack boost from combat magic scales with spellpower. If it did, it might be effective to simply pump my magic score as high as possible. Can't seem to find out for certain.

Almost completely correct. You can dual wield any Main hand weapon in your primary hand, and any one handed weapon in your secondary hand. I believe daggers are the only one handed weapons, but I'm not certain. Warriors/rogues who specialize in dual wielding can use main hand weapons in both hands.
