Hello all,
As the title states, I'm having some trouble with the "Asunder" quest in Orzammar.

I have found all of the body parts, but I can't for the life of me figure out where to go next.  I've been thoroughly over every section of the Dark Roads but I haven't found where I need to go.

Can anyone give me a hand here?  Thanks.

There is some sort of podium or something that you click on. Something happens, I won't say what (nothing incredible) and the quest ends.

Go to the Deep Trenches and you'll figure it out.

Yeah, that much I had guessed already.  I've been all over the deep trenches.  If you're going to be vague, would you mind at least pointing me to the correct section (Caridin's Cross, Orton Thaig, etc...)?

Thanks for the replies, but I'm still at a loss.

It's in the area with the ghost dwarves/golems. I forget which one that is.

Hmmm.  That's helpful, but I do remember several places where I fought ghost dwarves.  I think I fought them early on, as well as by the Legion memorial thingy and in the Anvil of the Void section.

I'm pretty embarrassed that I'm having this much trouble with it.  I'm extraordinarily thorough in my explorations most of the time, so I almost never have issues like this.

It's in the Ortan Thaig, near to the southernmost bridge I can't remember which bank. An x ought to pop up saying 'Asunder' on the map when you have collected all four body parts. There are spirits there and a stone golem if you didn't kill them first time through. The x marks an altar which you click and place the parts on to activate the quest.

SPOILER

You then are presented with the fade demon (awesome looking, but not that hard) . You can either release him for a reward (25gp) or kill him for no reward, some xp. I killed him, but actually, I could have used the gold...

Correct. It's in the large room or district in Ortan Thaig, and the quest destination is centered on an altar right next to a Magical Place of Power spot (needed for another quest). There are a bunch of disgruntled spirits and a Stone Golem protecting it. If you Tab-illuminate names, you can see the spot shortly after you enter the room. Once there, you can finish or advance both "Asunder" and "Places of Power" in one stop.

There are two more side-quest destinations nearby you can complete as well, one for Ruck's worried mother and another for Orta's (from the Shaperate) document quest. So all-in-all, that one big room in the Ortan Thaig contains the conclusion for 4 separate quests. It's a pretty important place. And further down the path there are quest markers for a couple more quests. Getting in touch with Ruck is useful even without the quest since he is surprisingly, a merchant.

In the Asunder quest, you can either fight the spirit (he doesn't drop anything, or at least nothing special), but he will give you 25 GOLD bars if you let him go free. Let him go free, - it is by far the most useful option as there is no other quest besides the "Precious Metals" quest which gives such a large cash reward.

BTW, the "Precious Metals" quest gives the largest cash reward in the game, 58 gold (plus a Crow Dagger) if you have persuasion up to the 4th tier. Alternately, the quest will yield only 48 gold (and no dagger) if you are less persuasive. The only problem with Precious Metals, however, is you need 40 gold seed money to start it properly. You also have to answer the dialogs correctly or you could end up with a lot less. "Asunder" on the other hand requires nothing special and no special dialog or persuasive skills... you get an easy 25 gold just for letting him free.

The "x" only appears on your map if you have quest helpers enabled. IMO this is ridiculous.

Yes, but the updated quest text causes me to question if there are gameplay consequences for doing so.  "The reward is great, but others will bear the true cost"  seems suggestive.
