I'm just at that decision myself. Anora makes a convincing argument, but Alistair is of royal blood, and i'd really hate to "betray" the arl...

Decisions, decisions! Why can't i just kill the arch-demon and be done with it?

I was genuinly happy that the Carta stuff in the dwarf city didn't involve any important morally grey decicsions, such as: Jarvia: "We're not a criminal organisation, were a guerilla faction working against the corrupt, incompetent governance!"

Had them marry, threw myself at the dragon, felt like an idiot (heroic idiot, but still idiot) throughout the epilogue, reloaded, had Alistair throw himself at the dragon, got a buggy ending, reloaded again and am now in the process of throwing my freshly conceived hellspawn at the thing.

All in all, that woman is colder than a witches teat and I wouldn't want to marry her, but she's probably a better choice for administration, while Alistair is probably a good figure head and might bring a sprinkle of compassion into that ice-chamber of a palace.

As much as I love Alistair, he's not cut out for King material. I know it says he did a good job in the epilogue, but at the time at which you make your choice, he's still a naive, dopey, kinda spineless kid. Anora, as much of a conniving witch as she is, seems to have her head in the game much more.

Hmm in my epilogue it said Alistair did a pretty horrible job.  I mean sure he was popular but he never did any governing and spent all his time travelling the realm, leaving ruling the kingdom in my(the chancellor) hands.  But I suppose that was to be expected.  I love when he asks you what you plan to do at the end, he's like "So I named you chancellor, you'll be staying here right?"  "Cuz I sure as hell aint' gonna run this ****!"

In my mind there was no argueing the succession.  The last Theirin heir belonged on the throne, hopeless though he might seem.

Anora is a terrible person who orders Alistair's execution as soon as she takes the throne. I made Alistair king, and made myself his queen, locking Anora up in the tower.

Yeah, she's cold, but a good ruler doesn't have to be a compassionate ruler.

Not true for everyone.  In mine, we travelled the countryside together.

I don't trust her as far as I can throw her. She's power hungry and backstabbing, which she reinforces on a constant basis. Alistair has strong advisors, and a good head on his shoulders. He can learn eventually. And if I'm his queen, I can manage the kingdom just fine.

She's terribly practical, as smart and ruthless as her father without being stupidly paranoid.

I only saw her backstab you when she betrays you to Cauthrine, and I think that is fairly justified.

Let me guess, you were autumn, and in your wake came she, winter, freezing all to death who dared lay eyes upon the terrible two?

In the epilogue, we're told that Anora turns out to be a pretty good ruler.

Personally, I would have considered MYSELF power hungry had I put up a man who seemed only willing to rule merely out of obligation just so that I could rule in his stead.

I'd rather have a king that is smart and capable enough to stab me or anyone else in the back if need be than a guy who just wants a hug. ;)

Wait, she does that? For me she actually asked if I actually wanted to surrender instead of fighting through! O_o

yes she would say that you tried to take her. But that's not planed. It's intended that you go to jail at that point and that's just on way.

But making Anora queen was a good decision for me. Alistair is a Warden and he is tainted. So he wouldn't be able to rule a long time and it would be impossible for him to get an untainted heir.

Allistair really doesn't want to become king

What happens if you let Anora and Alistair marry and let them take the throne?

"They soon fell into the daily routine of ruling the kingdom, Alistair travelled a lot, making appearances with the common folk yaddayaddayadda"

something along those lines...

Too bad you couldn't have just made yourself king... but that wouldn't have been a righteous move. 0_0

I'll just give it to Alistair and Anora... they will balance eachother out.

You could, looking like a human warrior and therefore noble (Something seems just wrong about that sentence).

Hmm? I'm going by what I've heard.

Supposedly, if you tell Cauthrine you're heard to save the queen and point her out, Anora will say that she's being kidnapped by you or something.

Ah well, I immediately pulled a frenchman and screamed "Surrender! Surrender!"...

Then she asked me if I really wanted to surrender...

Well, that whole cauthrine thing didn't happen to me. I think I did just surrender, and Anora escaped in the confusion. So she didn't backstab me at the end either, her support at the landsmeet was solid. So was mine for her. Alistair didn't want the job. He wanted to be a Gray Warden. He was quite clear about that. And that was very shortly before I threw my support toward her. I didn't tell him or anyone else until the actual landsmeet.

However, I am still in the process of the major battle, and I have already decided to sacrifice myself, because I don't want to become like brood mother, which is what happens to women with the taint. Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather go down in the tales and have a great end, than a miserable life. Love or no love. And I am the love of Alistair's life. We kissed right before we charged into battle. No matter the audience!

This is great.

Brood mothers are rare and take more to make than just a little taint, you can still have a perfectly boring relationship that slowly descends into mindnumbing repetitiveness before slowly turning into cold hatred, and then a sudden reflaring interest in bed.

So, just lend your loverboy to the witch, I'm sure she can guarantee he won't enjoy himself too much. ;)

thus the situation is that if i let Anora rule, then the kingdom would be in name only as no one of the royal blood sits on the throne, its like Arl Eamon said, they didnt defend Ferelden 30 years ago just so that 30 year later that people with no royal blood can rule.

But i have really taken a liking the lad (Alistair) and he really dont want the job...and i respected that, so i was at a loss as to what to do, logically Anora would make a better ruler, but Alistair is the last of the royal blood line...

i didnt even consider the marrige between the as it feels like am sending my best friend to marry a woman he didnt not know or love, and she was his half brother's widow to boot! thst sort of leave a bad aftertaste in my mouth...

but in the end after reading all the post about this... it seems that let Alistair be king may be the best choice, seen as soon as Anora made queen she ordered Alistair's death...Image IPB

i was ready to trust her until, while trying to rescue her, she completely betrayed me. i reloaded to try different options, but i could never get that out of my head, even when she was being nice again >.>

i really wanted alistair to chop off her head, not just pop her in the tower :P

i agree

her betrayal after the rescue is what i think one of the most shocking moment of the game... i kept wonder why in the world would she such a thing...
