So i was bored yesterday and decided to pop in mass effect 2 to play some new content and after the update it tells me that both Mass Effect 2 discs are unreadable. All my other games work and if i clear my cache and play Mass Effect 2 offline it works so its got to be the update. On another note, from reading other forums ive come to the conclusion that i wouldnt be able to play anyways because i got a new slim xbox and transferred data and other people say that the game says their content is corrupt.
Bioware please fix these problems so i can play a good game, if not im selling it and not buying any new dlc:unsure:

Are you sure this is a update issue? I mean I can't find any discussion about it on any of the ME forums here. And I assume there would be lots of discussion about this if it was an update issue. Or am I not looking well enough? I'll be getting my new 360S this weekend so I can check and see how it works for me and get back to you.

Well if it isnt the update i cant see any other reason. If all my other games work and Mass effect 2 is fine without the update wouldnt the update be the problem?

It sure sounds like an update issue when you describe it. I just thought it was strange that I couldn't find other threads about it.

I have the same problem. Once I update the disks come up as unreadable and I have the game installed so that shouldn't be an issue. Once I clear the cache the game works fine, though I can't go onto xbox live and can't use any dlc. I also have the new slim xbox 360, could the problem be related to the update and the new slim console? If it only effects the slim console that may be why there aren't many posts about this problem yet.

Ok guys, I've tried it myself now and it works fine for me. But let's see if we can solve this problem. This is how I did when I changed from my old premium console to the new 360 S:
1. Moved save files from old Xbox to USB drive
2. Installed ME2 from disc on to new Xbox 360 S
3. Moved save files from USB drive to Xbox 360 S HDD
4. Transferred licenses to new Xbox on xbox.com
5. Redownloaded all ME2 dlc from purchase history on xbox.com to Xbox 360 S HDD
6. Started ME2 and was prompted to update, updated.
I've tried booting with both disc 1 and 2 and both work fine, no disc errors for me. I can access my old saves and play both online and offline.
Is this of any help?

Got rid of everything ME2 from my console, re-installed game, updated and still have the "disk unreadable" error. I can get the the "press start" screen but a few seconds later "disk unreadable" pops up and I'm booted back to the dashboard. Running out of ideas to try and get it working. I transfered all my data between old and new console via data transfer cable and have no problems with other games. This is an odd problem....

It sure is. Maybe it has something to do with the update in combination with a specific dlc? Because I don't have all dlc, so maybe that's why it works for me? This is what I have installed:
Zaeed
Normandy Crash Site
Blood Dragon Armor
Terminus Weapon & Armor
Cerberus Arc Projector
Cerberus Weapon & Armor
Firewalker Pack
So I don't have any appearance packs, Kasumi or Overlord. How about you download one dlc at a time and try to boot up the game for each added dlc and see when it goes wrong? Or perhaps delete one dlc at a time and see when you get the game to work, since I assume you already have all the dlc on your HDD at the moment.

So, returned my console today and exchanged it for a new one. First thing I did was update and run the game and it's worked fine so far. Had problems with another game freezeing after updating so figured it must have been my console, maybe some old data was corrupted when it transfered over? Anyways, thanks for your help.
