What do you think the Grey Wardens role will be in Dragon Age 2?  I think they won't have a less important role in the first one but should still be in the game.
EDIT:  Since the wardens are not even mentioned in the press release and the game informer, it's likely you won't play as one.  Just an opinion.

I doubt that Hawke will become a Warden at any point, but i expect that the Warden's will try to recruit him.

They visited Lothering, got some coins by running errends for people, recruited a nun and a mass murderer, and left Lothering to its doom by darkspawn.

In Dragon Age wiki announcement about Dragon Age 2 mentioned he is a new warden but that might of been misunderstood. Hopefully they'll be companions that are grey wardens and at least get a choice of whether or not to be a grey warden.

They won't have any impact on the story of DA2, but will surly get a few mentions in dialog.

I think they will just be a faction and a minor one at that, the further from Orlais and Fereldon that you get the less the Wardens, the Circle and Chantry have meaning. These are not global agencies, these are local factions within two neighboring nations. I doubt the chantry, circle and wardens have a global presence. The closer you get to the Tivinter Imperium the less the Chantry has power. Antivi, Nevarra are probably far more important to the Free Marches as far as factions than Orlais and Fereldon is seporated by a sea from them. So I really don't see the DA;O factions having the same hold in the Free Marches. I do see a highly independent people living there, just by the name, that don't give a damn about their neighboring nations ways, I see what we have come to call Apostate mages, simply called Mages in the free marches. I seriously doubt the Circle has the power it does in Fereldon.

For the Wardens, Ferelden is actually the frontier - their center is in the Anderfels.

In any case, I hope the Wardens are only in the background in this one.

I agree with that but they should have a little role, maybe one as a companion?

Even if we don't get to play as our Warden this go around, it might be neat if one of the new companions is a Warden...

Edit: Legion read my mind=]

Well there where 2 pictures released where Hawke fights darkspawn, and since the Wardens are the only one who can sense them, it could be a possebility that one will be your companion.

Just think maybe we can have a Duncan-like older, more veteran Grey Warden companion. I'd like that..

This is a completely different game. There are no grey wardens in DA2, maybe a mention of them.

We'll see if Hawke becomes a Warden... from the looks of it, he can kill Darkspawn without going through any ceremonies though. He's either become a Warden in the shots, or he's just too awesome for the Darkspawn.

I agree if we are going to have a warden in our midst can we please have a Duncan-like veteran warden and not a bubbling fool Allistar type.

Im pretty sure it tells you in origins that the reason grey wardens no longer ride griffins is because they're extinct...

you dont need to be a warden to fight the darkspawn, only to kill the arch demon effectively.

Duncan was forgetable and bland.  At least Alistair was humorous.

While they might not have a huge presence in the Free Marches (I don't know one way or the other), the Chantry and the Circle(s) of Magi absolutely have influence extending beyond Ferelden and Orlais. Though, of course, there are two Chantrys: the one based out of Orlais is more anti-magic than the one based out of Tevinter.

Sorry, but no. Alistair was not funny, neither likeable IMO. He was annoying. He should have died at his joining.

Duncan was pretty ****ing, killing his recruits if they refused to drink the Darkspawn blood. Thats bad ass. He did what he needed to do to fight the blight and recruit new wardens.

I know, I was joking at the convo between Wynne and the PC regarding Griffins.

Personally, I hope there is no involvement from the Grey Wardens in the story. This was by far my least favourite part of DA:O. I simply cannot empathize with sacrificial warrior orders. DA:O tried very hard to force you into being a good little Warden (and often denied you dialogue options that had you outright reject that you considered yourself a Grey Warden), and DA:A was impossible to play unless you <3 Wardens, and that made it incredibly difficult for me to RP. All my characters were reluctant heroes - working with Alistair because the Blight needed to be stopped, but never having wanted to be Wardens in the first place.

I really hope the Wardens are a minor, if not ideally non-existent, party in DA2.

I just hope the Wardens are suitably badass and secretive if they appear. One of my least favourite aspects of Awakening, which I really enjoyed for the most part, was how... mundane they and their rituals became. I didn't like how blase they were about giving Maric their secrets in The Calling, either. :?

What if one of your allies is the Grey Warden from DA:O (or Orlesian one if the other died) and his/her personality is shaped around the race/class and a couple of the pivotal choices you made!
