We don't know what he does to make him so important in history yet though, we don't even have any clues. For all we know, he may discover the location of the old gods or some way to reverse the taint.

Hmm, if he reverses the taint, I think my HNF would have to call him awesome. Posted Image

I don't see Hawk being tainted, darkspawn hadn't attacked Lothering at the point our wardens were in town, and we may/or maynot see our "Warden's" walking around. I doubt we'll get to talk with them or interact with them, unless Hawk is the kid by the bridge or the Chantry board kid, these were my first impressions if Hawk is a kid and he could also have been any of the kid refugees, kids in the refugee camp over by the fence.

If he is a teenager we didn't talk with him.

Our warden's will get a codex or too or a mention in dialogue and this will all. I doubt we'd have the chance to even try to recruit Hawk into the party. Sorta spoils this after your decisions in Lothering after you've already finished the Origins.

The thing is, he isn't normal.

He's "a penniless refugee who rises to power to become the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age." More important than the Warden, who ended the Blight? More important than God-baby? Something isn't right.

I have to agree with you.  Seems my warden is the biggest hero in all of Thedas given the fact I stopped the blight in Ferelden and didn't allow it to spread to the other nations.  Wynne mentions this.   Yes, something not right.

Oh. My. God.

Hawke is Jonathan from Buffy the Vampire Slayer! (Episode reference: Superstar)

In seriousness, though, I not sure why everyone is leaping to assume that "most important" automatically means "most heroic",  "most badass" or "most powerful".  In 24, the President is more important than Jack Bauer.

I know I said this many time before, but I hope the Wardens will be a major enemy faction at one point in the game. That would really provide an interesting perspective.

I imagine for the part of the game which occurs during DA:O, they'd only be mentioned, possibly through news from refugees of the blight, but after that who knows, I'd like to see a lot of news about the rebuilding of the Grey Wardens and the tainted parts of Ferelden.

Playing through Awakening's shows how the Grey Wardens are rebuildt in Ferelden.  So, you might want to get Awakenings if this interests you after the new patch comes out.  They have never stated or shown how the land is cured of blight or I've missed lore to read up on this.  Anyone know?

I would get Awakening but in UK, there is no PS3 retail version for some reason, I'll read up on the game's story.

What with the 'Think like a General' bit and the 'Rise to Power' bit, I'm thinking we might conquering/uniting the various City States of the Free Marches, possibly for the lulz, possibly for the glory, possibly so they can stand against the Tevinters or Qunari or Nevarrans or something.

EDIT: Woops, yeah, so... Grey Wardens will probably feature a bit, especially considering the Free Marches isn't a united country so they will to have some stationed in every City State rather than just a capital city.

Check Amazon.com I'm sure you'll find a copy of the game there.  Cost to ship it, but it might be worth it.

Since they seem to be taking a Mass Effect 2 route with DA2, I think its safe to say the Wardens will play exactly a big a role as the Spectres did in that game. Posted Image

Grey Wardens are only relevant if there is a blight.

If there is no blight, that means the Grey Wardens don't got sh!t to do with DA2.

If there is Darkspawn , there will be Grey Wardens, simple as that.

Will Hawke gonna be one ? I don't know but I think it will be up to us to decide in the game.

Well, you see, he is the most important because he will not stop at the free marches he will conquer all of Thedas and rule the world...  The Chantry shall name the next age the Mike Hawke Age

This isn't true, darkspawn are always a threat, if this wasn't the case then Orzammar would have the deep roads to use to help rebuild their empire.  A blight occurs when darkspawn awaken an old god (dragon) and the tainted dragon leads them to the surface.  The darkspawn are alive and well being born in the deep roads by broodmothers.  They are still around.  Thus, wardens are always needed. How important god-baby is can be up in the air. IMO, I was always of the opinion that old gods were a special kind of abomination (like Wynne) so I'm not sure it's right to say that it's a new kind of existence so much so as it is a kind of existence that hasn't been seen before as a human (potentially).

As for the Warden, it does seem hard to to stopping the Blight. And arguably Wardens like Garahel were more important to Thedas based on the conditions that they stopped the blight.

I'm betting this is marketing BS, though.

But darkspawn don't raid on the surface. So humans don't really care about the Wardens once the hype of a blight dies down and everyone forgets.

Um yes they do. Darkspawn do raids. Its organizing into large directed armies under an Archdaemon that only happens during the blight. Which is why both Cailan and Loghain were skeptical it was actually a blight.

Ermmm........ Awakening ?

The reason why surface didn't care much about Darkspawn was they killed tooo much Darkspawn at 4th blight and foolishly thought they finally put an end to it. But as long as there are Broodmothers ( we barely killed 5 if you count The Mother too ) they will always be darkspawn.

they will certainly be mentioned, you might even see some, or get to react with them.
one thing i hope, is that they are like a faction in the game you can interact with, and they are different based on the deciscions of your gameplay from DAO, kinda like masseffect does with the whole importing story. i mean, since their taking alot from mass effect, i hope they take the best feature.
