Just curious.  Since we're not playing as the GW from Origins, canonized, for example, the Dark Ritual, wouldn't be as big a blow to players as would be, to invoke a mass effect example, canonizing the ending of Mass Effect 2, and I'm wondering (did a bit of looking 'round the web and forum to no avail) whether a canon ending has been confirmed.

Of course, half of you aren't going to buy DA:2 anyway since its been ruined forever by the presence of a voiced protagonist with a fixed race and origin :?, but try to answer anyway)

They have said that we will be able to import decisions from DAO to shape the world in DA2. So it is likely that no choices have been canonized, and your prior choices will form the background for this game. Hopefully it will be well implemented.

If they do canonize most choices, I wont care. One thing that'll ****** me off if its canonized is the Dark Ritual though.

Seriously, if the DR is canon, I might consider calling DA RUINED FOREVER. Maybe.

Well, I'd certainly be pissed.

In ME2 they promised that we can change the plot flags of the Shepards we made brand new.

I'll reserve judgement, since it's not the Mass Effect team.

No clue. Something tells me we'll have to wait for allusions to DA:O's plot in DA2 to decide what's been canonised. The Dark Ritual seems (to me at least) to be part of a larger story arc, and the Old Gods (and thus the God-Child and Morrigan) are fundementally linked to the Darkspawn, so I get the feeling the Ritual may be canon. Maybe not the way it plays out exactly (the Warden might not have fathered the child, it might be Riordan or Alistair), but I think that'll be canon. As for things like the ruler of Orzammar, the Anvil of the Void, the fate of the Dalish and the Circle of Mages, etc., I have no clue.

We import our choices from Origins into DA2, so it seems very likely nothing will be canonized.

(The events in Awakening however I'm not so sure about...)

well they obviously cant force everyone to play origins before DA2...so they will have to make a canonised ending and choices, i want to know if they go the route of early MA2 where you can just choose the choices(i was really pissed that wasn't in MA2) or if they just make whatever decisions they feel fits better with the story.

I would hope that the BeardWarden x Morrigan Dark Ritual would be canon, but the problem with canonising it (and for that matter, any of the results regarding the DR) is that people will always be dissapointed that their ending wasnt Canon. That their choices didnt matter.

Im all for having my ending made canon, but I think that if it costs others their experience with the game, having no set outocme and relying on imports from the previous game to weave you own story is the best way to overcome the problem.

I'm thinking its rather likely that the DR will be canonized anyway. Turning it into a throwaway one line (Some random guy/girl that looks a bit like Morrigan comes up to you, looking drunk, and says "Hey, I'm the reincarnation of a god, wana spend some time if you know what I mean.", then walks away.) would really suck.

Exactly. I was gutted when I saw that ME2 would ignore whether or not players decicded to save the *you-know-who* at the end of ME1, forcing all players to play as if the so-and-so's had been saved. (Turned out to be duff info of course, but that's not the point!) It made me feel as if my play-through was worthless because my actions were ignored.

I went with the DR, so it won't affect me if that is canon, but I don't think it should be forced on to other people (if it even has any relevance to DA2 as everybody is assuming).

I'm hoping that the DR is canon, and somehow ties in with DA2 in the future.  That way, they can unify the stories of the previous 2 games in one epic finale in Dragon Age 3.

I'm wondering depending on your choice in the final boss if you killed the arch demon will it lead up to Hawke killing the bastard again. This would be interesting. HAve hawke try to kill the demon your warden failed to do.

Personally, I'm pretty sure the DR is going to be canonized, but they'll do it in a way that respects your choices in DA:O. So if you died or Alistair/Loghain died taking the deathblow, Morrigan got her Godbaby in some other underhanded way. That seems most likely to me.

If they canonize it in a way that dictates our actions, though, that would have been lame.

I would be fine if she got the baby through some other magic, but I would not consider that to be canonizing the DR, but rather it would imply the rather likely possiblity that Morrigan had a back up plan.  However, I would be pretty annoyed if they canonized it so that our character went through the DR, because that simply is not something that many of my characters would have been willing to do.
