I haven't been on to play DA in a few weeks, and when I go to play today, my PS3 says it needs a mandatory update in order to run. So I download it, and when I go to play my game, I have no audio, and the visual effects of the screen are all blurry and screwed up.  Nothing works right, and I dont know what to do...

Has anyone else for the PS3 had this occurr at any point in time, or what? And what do you reccommend?

No... Try deleting Dragon Age game data (from game data utility in XMB) and reinstalling + patching again. Probably downloaded patch was damaged.
