Like DAO has? Or will there be one male and one female? I know different voice sets costs lots of $$$, but BioWare is loaded, right? So it shouldn't be an issue. :)

LOL, ignorance.

BioWare has a set budget that they don't want to exceed when they produce a game. They want to make a profit--and as you just said, voice acting costs money, especially seeing as how each voice actor will record different dialogue options for the duration of the game... that could easily be thousands of lines, for each voice set--that's very expensive. And just because BioWare has the money for it doesn't mean they're willing to spend it all and take a risk like that.

the amount of dialogue bioware are likely to create for the game i doubt it would be cost effective, sure it would be great but i doubt it'd be easy to implement.

Since you guys started talking about their budget, I wonder if VA will affect the length of the game. I somehow expect it to be at least as long as origins, but maybe that is too much to ask.

Not ignorance in the least. If it's set in the budget, as you say, then it's not at all ignorant to ask. I'm sure that it'd have to be set in the budget to do it, or else BW would be horrible businessmen.

It'd be insanely expensive to offer more than one voice for each sex, so that's not going to happen. Not when there's a bunch of other stuff on which the money could be better spent.

It will be shorter, they will just throw in some time sinks(planet scanning from ME2 anyone?, or the horrible deep roads in DAO, or perhaps the MULTIPLE item collecting in awakening where you had to search ALL OVER THE MAP to find some hard ti find items...grrrrr, I hate time sinks ), so they can say its 100+ hours of gameplay when its really like 10 to 15.

Of course it is an issue.
The more voices you want to implement  int he original game, the more you'll have to consider in localisation.
Unless, you only consider the US/English witha large variety of voices and the other versions with only one set.

Take a look at DAO with it's 144 voice actors in his original version.Do you think all the other localized versions have also 144 voice actors?Of course no.So not only a financial issue, but also a localisation one.
If it can be nice to hear our character (however this is not the problem, another threads exist to discuss this  point of view), it can also be a big problem regarding the budget to bring variety and localisation

And.. Imagine the cost of animating the lip-sync of each pc in several different ways to accommodate the different voice actors... this would be absolutely awesome, but i would bet my dog's life that it is not going to happen

I don't think that it will affect anything.
Since DA:O sold beyond their expectations, I imagine they'll have a much larger budget to make DA2.

Pretty sure the lip sync is automatic, but whatever.
