I'm assuming, given Hawke is going to be set-character, that the dialogue/voice system and such is going to be handled much the same way as in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Mainly the player picking a response and the PC saying the lines.

And also assuming that BioWare will be providing at least a modicum of customisation (and gender selection, hopefully) as they say. It only serves to speculate as to who the voice actors are going to be.

As a suggestion: I think you should look up Mr. Nathan Fillion again for the lead male role. I believe he's worked with BioWare before, playing the woefully underused Gao the Lesser in Jade Empire. And personally, I can think of no other actor better suited. From what I've seen of him, he's quite adept at playing heroic characters or villainous characters, and seems perfect to play a PC that changes depending on the player's whim.

For the female Hawke, I had to think a bit on it, I don't know if BioWare plans to use the wonderful Ms. Jennifer Hale again, although I doubt it given her role as Cmd.Shepard. Then I think, why not Sheena Easton? I think back and remember her work as Annah in Planescape Torment, and think she'd make a great Hawke.

Still, just a thought anyhow. I'm sure this kind of thing has already been dealt with.

I really don't want Jennifer Hale as the female Hawke.

If they have Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale do Hawke, then it will only further the game's budding antifandom's argument that DA2 is Mass Effect with swords.

Hehe, I actually wouldn't mind, but again, I doubt because of her involvement in Mass Effect, the BioWare would use her talents again, especially in another lead role, though who knows, she could pop up in Dragon Age 2 anyway.

Oh god no. I know Mr.Meer probably worked very hard on his portrayal of Cmd.Shepard, but gah, I could not stand male Shepard. Just...geh.

Nathan Fillion? The Hammer is his p*nis.

I think at this point they'll have most likely already chosen VO for Hawke, but if not, then I'll throw a vote on for Captain Hammer himself. Jennifer Hale? Eh, I think they might do themself a favour and experiment with someone else. Not that I dont like Jennifer Hale, I just think that some variety might be a great idea.

I think Im going to be fine with whoever they pick though, so long as Claudia Black is back for some sort of sultry and sexy voice talent (Ill admit it, I'm a massive Farscape and Calduia Black fanboy)

Had an additional thought too. If Tim Curry is coming back, please give him the significant villain position he deserves. I mean really, Arl Howe? The man has voiced the most despicable and cunning villains of the highest calibre, and he gets stuck as the infective vizier? I mean, he barely schemed at all...

If the main villain is out of the question fair enough, but...a villainous part with some dignity would be a golden thing.

Nathan Fillion would be great--and if they got Evangeline Lily to play the female Hawke, neither of the leads would need a work permit. It would entirely depend on being able to do a reasonable british accent, though....

I could. Hell, I wouldn't even mind if they picked him up again.

I would take Mark's more natural(yes, and a bit monotone) voicework over the dramatic, forced and exaggerated anime dub of Ms. Hale any day. She sounds just fine like Mazzy or Bastila, so why this "butch woman" in ME?

I don't think they have the budget to make an A-List Celbrity voice the main characters in a game such as this.

Since Hawke is human and from Ferelden, logic would say that they'd have to get someone with a british (fake or real) accent.

I'd rather not see Meer or Hale as the voices of Hawke simply because they are Sheperd to me.

Remember, Hawke has to have a British accent.

I mean, if not, then there'd be no reason not to include elves or dwarves as Hawke.

I wouldn't mind seeing BioWare scoop up Kerrigan's original VA from Starcraft.

I think Steve Valentine or Nolan north should do Hawke. They're awesome!

Liam Neeson. Only his awesome 'Zeus' beard would dare voice the power of Hawke's beard.

If Hale does Hawke, it better be her Bastila voice.

Oh and like in my other thread, I still advocate for David Tennant.

Ray Stevenson would be my personal favourite. Gruff manly man voice, kinda goes well with the beard. No idea if he's ever done voice-over work though.

I actually would really like to see Nathan Fillion do some more VO for Bioware.  Heck, while we're discussing Doctor Horrible Alumni, why not bring in Neil Patrick Harris?  I love that guy!

We should get Summer Glau for FemHawke.

David Tennant or Nathan Fillion? Oh my god, if either of those men got cast I would never play anything but Dude Hawke romancing only himself - and this is coming from someone who religiously plays females. Oh my god. I need to stop thinking about this. I need to lie down.

I wouldn't mind if Jen Hale got the voice for Lady Hawke. She's a great actress. Even if she isn't cast, as long as my girl doesn't sound whiney or fake or raspy, I'm down for whoever.

But please, for the love of all that is good and delicious in this world, NO MEER. Oh sweet baby Jesus. He was the reason Sheploo never got played for anything but a few minutes of lulz. The nasally monotone makes me want drive forks into my ears.

Okay, I amend my statement from the Lady Hawke voice thread.

EITHER of these casting choices would let all be forgiven.

Sadly these threads are kind of pointless... the VO is going to happen pretty early on in the process.  So the actors have most likely already been hired, recorded, and sent on their merry way. :crying:

Mark Hamill, he's already an experienced voice actor, has done video games, has a wide range demonstrated by the type of cartoons he has worked on and can pull of a fine heroic persona.

Gah. You would want your Hawke to whine like this?:

I have nothing against Jennifer Hale, but I don't want my Fisher Hawke to sound like my Shepard.
