Gah. You would want your Hawke to whine like this?:

'shudders'

Very different character.  When he played the lead in Wing Commander he was a more heroic figure. He has also showed his range in playing the Joker and numerous other voices from the batman series, has done anime as well ... he is an all around experienced and excellent voice actor.

I'd like Mika Simmons to do lady Hawke. She did great job as Anora among other characters.

If
they have Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale do Hawke, then it will only
further the game's budding antifandom's argument that DA2 is Mass Effect
with swords.

Oh, thank heaven, I thought it was just me. I love JH, but--no. Just no. And real Brits, please, unless maybe people of the Free Marches have a different accent or something.

My only hope is that they pick actors who are not recognizable. It will be very distracting if we hear Hawke and think, "Nathan Fillion" or "Claudia Black", much as I love them both. Even Steve Blum has been really active; he's got great range, but by now I have started recognizing him too much. Preferably, they should find either totally new talent or barely-used talent. Greg Ellis (Anders/Cullen) or Mark Hildreth (Sten/Sgt. Kylon) and Emma Fielding (Lady of the Forest), maybe? The former two have range, and the latter was very pleasant to listen to.

Not that WE know of! Image IPB Besides, Kirkwall does sound a bit Scottish, but then again it might be my imagination.

I want genuine English people doing it. No more of that "what's goin on ere gov'ner" **** pulled by a lot of npc voice actor's trying to be English. No matter how good they are at voice acting, American's cannot pull off any British accents well enough. Their forced accents either sound like the Queen or the Artful Dodger and I don't want either of those for Hawke. Steve Valentine did a brilliant job for Alistair but he will always be Alistair so I wouldn't want him for Hawke.

As much as I would like to hear more of mah proud British-ness(Scots, English, Welsh and ol'Irish) I think the game distinctly lacks more Australians.

(Oh and Frankie Boyle for BeardHawke VO lol :D )

I loved him in Uncharted 2.

Sadly I don't know how he does for English accents. The problem with American actors like him and, say, Nathan Fillion is that if you hired them they either have to sound like themselves or... they'll sound like someone who's trying on an English accent, and maybe sound completely different from the reason you wanted them in the first place. I mean, my nerd-crush on Nathan Fillion knows no bounds-- but can you picture him doing an English accent?

I guess we could always make him an elf. But I dunno.

This is why we do the majority of our voice recording in England. With real, genuine English actors (well... some of them are Scottish or maybe Irish, I don't think we're picky). Steve Valentine is an English actor working in LA, of which there are a few (thankfully). But those "fake accents" you're referring to are, 99% of the time, quite real, thank you.

Faux British accents make me cry, they've recently done it in World of Warcraft for the expansion back and it sounds horrible.

Hire him as a dwarf and have him make the 'Hammer is his p*nis' joke. SORTED!

The perfect example of this is Aribeth in NWN, played by Wendee Lee. As good a voice actress as she is (more credits than anyone in the industry, apparently), her accent in that game sounded cringeworthy and very obviously fake to me, an Englishman.

I'm french and the people who said that Leliana's accent was obviously faked drove me nuts. I tried to disprove them and said it sounded real, yet apparently I have no experience with it and that my own french accent is completely and totally wrong.

99% real? Well that is actually a major shock to me. It must be be a location thing as being northern I recognised all of the northern english accents (like nan in the human noble origin) as being completely genuine but a lot of the cockney accents that cropped up sounded horribly forced. My bad I guess.

Well, German accents, terrible as they are, sound nothing like what the general English-speaking populace apparently think they do.

Blame Hollywood!

edit: I'm hoping for an Anderfells companion, by the way.
