Well, German accents, terrible as they are, sound nothing like what the general English-speaking populace apparently think they do.

Blame Hollywood!

edit: I'm hoping for an Anderfells companion, by the way.

Yeah we've had Qunari, Orlesian and Antivan companions so I agree that we need one from the Anderfells next and I reckon we'll get one.

Also, justifiably, I blame Hollywood for all national stereotypes.

I work in animation, and get this all the time.

People don't think you're a real animator? That's gotta suck.

No, in all seriousness, they don't think I'm a real writer. Well, I am an ASSISTANT at this point.

Nolan North!

I loved him in Uncharted 2.

Sadly I don't know how he does for English accents. The problem with American actors like him and, say, Nathan Fillion is that if you hired them they either have to sound like themselves or... they'll sound like someone who's trying on an English accent, and maybe sound completely different from the reason you wanted them in the first place. I mean, my nerd-crush on Nathan Fillion knows no bounds-- but can you picture him doing an English accent?

I guess we could always make him an elf. But I dunno.

The thing with Nolan North or well the two things one has to consider, in my opinion at least, is that A. He's in every damn game these days. B. He doesn't seem to have much range, but I might be wrong about that honestly, but it does seem no matter who he plays he's got this loveable everyman rogue vibe to his voice that works so well in the Uncharted series and really the Uncharted series voice wise is really on part with you guys, but then I guess actually recording the dialogue while doing mocap helps the actors to actually imbue his character with more well heh character than what one would usually find.
Of course his Raphael from TMNT was damn good.

There's always Bill Murray, Craig Fairbrass who did a bang up job with the Modern Warfare series and could probably make som interesting characters and then I am admittedly in love with Kevin McKidd's scottish accented voice. But I guess if we need to be realistic as much dialogue a Voiced PC needs one shouldn't expect known names. Also Graham Mactavish.

I'm french and the people who said that Leliana's accent was obviously faked drove me nuts. I tried to disprove them and said it sounded real, yet apparently I have no experience with it and that my own french accent is completely and totally wrong.

Corinne Kempa was perfect for Leliana, being a Parisian who had relocated to London. And the lisp is adorable. I think people just tend to have a knee-jerk suspicion regarding accents-- especially since European accents have such distinct regional variations. A "French" accent is as much a misnomer as an "English" accent, after all.

Her "Allow me, let me do that for you." gave me goosebumps everytime and I fell in love with the character the first time I heard it.Image IPB

on another note, I saw Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns, two movies from Studio Ghibli I can really recommend, and thought of Cary Elwes, who actually did the voice of the bard from A Bard's Tale Reboot.

To reference TV tropes yet again "Reality is Unrealistic".

Of course. That person has to do 10x the voice recording of any other character-- more, probably, as they have lines in almost every single dialogue. We went through a few tries before we found the actors that hit the right note, but yet-- we do indeed have all our Hawkes in a row.

I've personally always loved Nathan Fillion myself; ever since I heard Gao the Lesser, I fell in love with the voice. Having him as an Elf or a Dwarf companion would be absolutely wonderful! But yeah, I just cannot see him in an English accent; as much as I love him, picturing him doing an English accent is quite difficult.

edit: HOLY CRAP. Extremely baaad typo. xx;

You are, IMO. Until Alpha Protocol, I'd have agreed with you... but then:

NOW I can hear his voice in Heck, sure, but when I first played it? Sounded nothing like the dude.

Haha, so true. I'm French too (but got the English VO), and I liked how most characters of obvious Orlesian origins sounded like a bad French student with a very strong accent. It may have sounded forced in a few cases but I've actually known people who sounded just like that during English classes.
Leliana's accent was just right, though.:P

All right, unknown idioma. Should note that somewhere or something. Meh I'll probably
forget anyway. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

It's a take on the saying "all your ducks in a row." Essentially means everything is in order or taken care of. I wouldn't read to much into it.

I would be really surprised if the voice actors for fem/male shepherd played fem/male Hawke. Unless they could do a voice that sounded really different, it would be too bizarre. Besides, don't they need British accents?

I hope BioWare got Mark Hildreth for male Hawke. He even has experience playing an Englishman, as he played Cardinal Reginald Pole in The Tudors.

Obviously only one voice per gender.
