That is the one thing that is better in DAO than in the BG series.

Well, Brad Pitt did a very good british accent in 'Snatch', a damn good movie, not that I'm suggesting him. I'm just saying.StreetlightEagle wrote...
I want genuine English people doing it. No more of that "what's goin on ere gov'ner" **** pulled by a lot of npc voice actor's trying to be English. No matter how good they are at voice acting, American's cannot pull off any British accents well enough. Their forced accents either sound like the Queen or the Artful Dodger and I don't want either of those for Hawke. Steve Valentine did a brilliant job for Alistair but he will always be Alistair so I wouldn't want him for Hawke.

Haha I actually love that you brought up snatch as the irony is perfect. There was no 'pikey' aspect of Snatch until Brad Pitt signed up. He was supposed to play one of the cockney roles but couldn't pull off the accent at all. Guy Ritchie desperately wanted Brad in the film though so created the whole pikey sub plot because that quasi-Irish accent was the only one he could pull off!

I'm still disappointed you weren't able to make all the humans sound Welsh. I recognise it wasn't your fault (or anyone at BioWare's fault - there just aren't that many Welsh voice actors), but it would have been so great had you been able to do it.David Gaider wrote...
This is why we do the majority of our voice recording in England. With real, genuine English actors (well... some of them are Scottish or maybe Irish, I don't think we're picky). Steve Valentine is an English actor working in LA, of which there are a few (thankfully). But those "fake accents" you're referring to are, 99% of the time, quite real, thank you.

Agreed! I support Ruth Jones for LadyHawke, Michael Sheen for GuyHawke, Anthony Hopkins for main villain, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey as a cabaret act in a pub, and Rob Brydon as all the other voices

Yes! I would love to have Michael Sheen as Hawke... Only as long as he uses the same voice as when he portrayed Nero in 'Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire' of course.

Yeah but then instead of having chracter names like 'Sten', 'Shale, 'Alistair' they'd have to have names like Flewellyngoed, Aberwycehinain, and Pennawaerhaven

I've always wondered something about the dwarfs in dragon age. Do you reckon they were always going to have American accents because a lot of the dialogue written for dwarves sounds like it should come from one of the British accents due to a lot of the words only being used over here. I mean, hearing Oghren say 'arse' in an American accent just sounded ridiculous.
.
Oghren seemed to be modeled after a stereotypical American cowboy, I honestly can't picture him with a British accent... or a Scottish accent for that matter.

I for one was VERY disappointed when I reached Orzammar and that guard dude wasn't Scottish. I think it may have been because I'd just watched How To Train Your Dragon where all the Vikings (VIKINGS, people) were Scottish. I know, I know, I'm shallow-minded and stereotypical, but in retaliation I named my dwarven noble Gimli.
Also, Leliana's VA had a genuine French accent, yes, but guys...
Erlina.
DAYMN that bi*ch was annoying to listen to.

I would be really surprised if the voice actors for fem/male shepherd played fem/male Hawke. Unless they could do a voice that sounded really different, it would be too bizarre. Besides, don't they need British accents?
Bugger...I'll admit, that didn't even cross my mind when devoting all that devotional time to Captain Hammer at the start. Still, seems it's all underway anyway.
If only for the furtherance of what-ifs, it's a shame Tony Jay isn't with us any longer, the man could've voiced an -epic- Shale:

How about Craig Parker, Darken Rahl from "Legend of the Seeker". I think he's got nice voice for a villain.

I think Sean Bean could voice an excellent male Hawke. An aging warrior, but still a powerful one. He's voiced for video games before, and he's English.
Perfect.
plus his accent would be quite funny on a mage

Then I think, why not Grey DeLisle? I think back and remember her work as Annah in Planescape Torment, and think she'd make a great Hawke.
I only skimmed through this thread, but I didn't see this mentioned, Grey DeLisle did not voice Annah from Planescape: Torment. That would be Shaeea Easton. No idea where you got that idea from. Apologies if this was already mentioned.
