Robes of Possession...just sayin!

My general POSSIBLE SPOILERS theory is that when you kill Flemeth in DA:O and give her mother's robes to Morrigan, Flemeth gets in that way and takes over secretly. She screws the male warden to secure an even more powerful child with the soul of a god whom she'll eventually take over.

Unless of course you let Flemeth go, and play a female character!

Where do you get the 10 years figure from? We know that DA2 spans 10 years meaning that from the moment it starts to the moment it ends about 10 years pass but we have no idea how much longer after DAO is the start of DA2. Hawke escaped lothering but we have no idea how old he was.....could very well have been a child placing the start of DA2 potentially at 2 to 3 decades after DAO and IF they go for his figure Morrigan would be between 40 and 60.....hardly young and the transformations are sure to have taken their toll on her appearence as well.

Because it's been stated over & over again that DA2 and DAO overlap.  In DA2, you will experience some of the same events that you experienced in DAO.  At most, DA2 might end 9-10 years after DAO.  However, when DA2 starts, it will be sometime in the midst of the DAO events.  It's very possible that DA2 might only end a couple years after DAO.

DA: 2 begins in Lothering just before it was pillaged by the Darkspawn. I think the overlap is mainly what occured in Lothering, but other than that I see no point to having Morrigan be in the party.

In any ending, Morrigan travels to Orlais/the Frostback Mountains, so that should end the whole that lady is Morrigan thing. I don't know how they would make the game have Morrigan age 60 years in only 10...

You know, this theory is plausible just as any other regarding the mystery of Flemeth. With DA2 sreenshots of Flemeth revealed she looks rather similar to old Morrigan in looks, especially eyes, and clothes:

That may, of course, mean that she's just Morrigan's real mother, but maybe something else entirely like this:
What if Morrigan used the Eluvian Mirror to travel back in time, perhaps to the time of the ancient elven kingdoms, where she learned the knowledge of power and some sort of immortality that nowadays Flemeth seem to possess?
So she may have lived since then normally or still can travel in time and plots whatever she is plotting. My guess is that it has something to do with the Old Gods (like destroying them) or the Fade and that child with the Old God's soul is just a first (latest?) cog in her plan.

That in no way would contradict that she later in the future will find/steal her child self and raise as her own since it's a fantasy universe and time paradoxes may take place in it.

P.S. I know it sounds like a crazy rant, but still...kinda makes sense in a way.

Yes, lets use picture matching with a mother and daughter and freak out when they some how match.
But you can also say time loop. But at whould hurt peoples mind to think about it and make Morrigan her own Grandma....

The first page of this thread is hilarious. Funniest post I've read in DA2 forum in a while. Seriously though, there's still that screenshot during the flashforward of an army of "Morrigans" in the trailer, I think we're going to need alot more information before we can even understand their motives.

Some people take the term fantasy RPG too literal.

and in ten years she'll be taking care of that child.

DA2 isn't 10 years after DAO. DA2 spans a decade and overlaps with Origins at some point. It may start 10 years before and finish at DAO, start and DAO and finish 10 years after, or something in-between.

We already know that the point of overlap is the beginning of the game (you start in Lothering when it's being destroyed...that occurs about the same time that the Warden is completing his first task).

Guys...what if Morrigan is the god child. She goes back in time using the Eluvian mirror and has her child with the Warden. The child is a girl. Morrigan renames herself Flemeth, and she names the child Morrigan. That child goes forward in time to meet the Warden and start the whole time loop again.

TIME PARADOXES WOO!!

Wait...but that would be wincest! Now I demend romance with Bethany too if the Warden's been down that road already, Hawke has to do better.

Isn't it possible that they look so much alike because of...  I don't know, she's her daughter?  That would be my first guess, but hey that's just me.

So that would make Flemeth the Crone, Morrigan the Mother, and the OGB the... Maiden?

... hrm... maybe not.

What if the child with the soul of an old god is actually Flemeth herself?

Morrigan went through the Eluvian mirror, went back in time, raised Flemeth herself. Flemeth in return continued to steal young girls, raising them in the hopes that she would raise morrigan who would be her future mother when the Arch Demon rose?

How... confusing and unlikely.

I'm still under the impression that Flemeth is, in fact, an Old God. Or at least, a strange being who houses an old god's soul.
