That's artwork, dear. That being said it does look like a good indication of which direction they're going for the game.

Didn't answer why that would be Andraste since:

1. She is dead.

2.  That's not her symbol.

3. Oh that's right, she's dead.

Duh she's dead, but you don't think we're going to learn more about her?  Flashbacks are possible since this game is already set up in narrative style.

What is that symbol then?  It looks similar to what is worn by the chantry, not to mention the eye might represent the "eye of the Maker" that is stressed so much when they talk about Andraste.

Also not to mention Andraste led an army of followers and she looks like an army leader to me.

But I hope they won't go overboard with the new pointy armor pieces. It seems everyone is like that now regardless of race or faction.   The Disciple's armor looks like something from Lady Gaga's wardrobe.

The angular stuff and emphasis on negative space is something mentioned about the new visual style in the GI article. It certainly looks good in the concept art, I just hope it looks as good on the technical side of things once its in the game itself.

And I'm loving how the darkspawn actually look like mutated/diseased humans or qunari and not just your generic fantasy orcs.

Considering that it is a dwarf on the throne, I'd imagine you're correct.

Maybe that's the new dwarf LI taking page from Zevran's book and keeping it warm for you Hawke...

Yeah that darkspawn armour sucks even in comparison to some of the worse art decisions in the first game - to me, at least. I mean, I'm into pointy bits as much as the next demonically possessed man, but they don't look to be particularly sexy pointy bits. I'm pretty sure none of the images on that page are anything more than 2d paintings (modellers don't have a habit of giving creatures toes) but I hope to god the 3d artists do a better job of putting the angular style across for the darkspawn.

That's artwork, dear. That being said it does look like a good indication of which direction they're going for the game.

It reminds me a bit of the Sacred Ashes trailer where Morrigan whooped ass with her staff melee style. (This isn't melee obviously, but the staff looks like its being used in an interesting way at least). I am officially excited again.

Well after they were defeated(again) the darkspawn realised they had to stay hidden to survive. They also decided to take precautions against any detection systems humans might develop in the future and so came up with the idea of the stealth hurlock. The design is still ages ahead of it's time(and utterly useless until humans start depending on radar).

I like the fact that ogres have enough social propriety to cover up their ogre bits with loincloth. Like, thanks Mr Ogre. Thats pretty decent of you.

Wow good find, thanks for the link, hopefully we'll start to see some ingame footage/images soon. The Darkspawn armor does look like the ones on Play.com's DA2 pre-order page...that is before they suddenly disappeared...

Since the Darkspawn are scattered I imangine many will be wounded or diseased now they don't have an Old God Calling to them.
