Still there was a fiddrence and a huge diffrence betyween the alpha and E3. The alpha was the first we ever saw. Thus we should all come down, now if in the future the game looks the same, then that would be crap.


I guess that's true, but dang, talk about not making a first good impression.

They should have way better in-game shots to present us with by now.

That's why it was delayed. They showcased the game with the old design during E3 2008 in July, the game came out at the end of October 2009.

Maybe waiting till a big game confrence to hsow the good stuff. That's what they did with ME2.

I dunno what you're on but i don't see any difference between the E3 2009 trailer and the 2010 trailer graphics wise.


The first clip doesn't even have texture mapping at the start, just an untextured checkerboard.

You're smoking some good stuff dude.  The 2009 and 2010 trailer aren't that much different.  Take a look at the screens we've been presented with, with only about 8 months of development left (not including bug-testing, packaging, shipping, etc), and then take a look at the screens of the Witcher 2, which will probably come out around the same time.

I have a feeling those aren't "official" screenies though.  I have faith that the game will look at least as good as ME2.

There is still a big diffrence in lighting and some of the modals look better, but the diffrence I wanted to show was the alpha and the finished product.

It would be also curious decision to release the early alpha screens when they should have something better available, otherwise their statements how the DA2 graphics are much improved is based on... what exactly, wishful thinking?

You're imagining things, there's no difference in graphic fidelity between the 2009 and the 2010 trailer. It's also difficult to make comparisons since both trailers are comprised of different shot. As for the GDC video, that wasn't even meant to be seen by the public, it was by developers for developers to show how they went about developing the levels, hence the placeholder objects, plus the video is in crappy quality thus comparisons are mood.

You can't compare outside shots to outdoor shots, also the blood splatter in DA2 looks better then the splatters in DAO :P

Great. They've changed the ogre from a scary intimidating beast in to something which just looks retarded. I didn't mind the orcish Darkspawn of the first game, the new designs make them look like pale goths you'd find in a nightclub.

There's also some form of lighting as well. You can see specular lighting in first shot on Hawke's arm, and characters' dynamic shadows in the second shot.

Stalker use parallax occlusion mapping, want in Dragon age. Along with screen space ambient occlusion.
Ground looks super flat.
