And @pilotJoe, you did notice where it said the PC version will keep its combat system right? Only the console is getting the console-specific-combat.
That's great, but the more time they spent squirreling around with the control scheme for consols the less time they spent optimizing, testing and including additional content.

This all smells like they want to appeal to a broader audience and sell more. At this point I think they're alienating a lot of the fans that played the first game.

The Mako section were just mindless filler, at least the planet scanning is optional mindless filler
But it also had the potential to be a key gameplay element, and in quite a few story missions, it actually was. A few changes to the controls, and better planets to explore with more interesting things to do there and it could have been great.
But, I guess it's just easier to make a lo-fi rotating orb that you shoot lasers at.
edit: Sorry, sorry, off topic, I know. No more.

Have to disagree with you there, but I won't comment on it here since its out of place.

Because it'll get people talking. People are curious, hopeful, ticked off, beligerant, but they're talking. It's been 7 hours and we're on page 16 about to be 17.
They succeeded.
If they used screenshots that looked exactly like DA:O we would be on page 16 or 17, what's your point? This is the Dragon Age 2 section of the BioWare forums, exactly what else do you expect people here would talk about?

1) Dragon Age: Origins
2) Why ME 2 is killing Dragon Age
3) Why consoles are killing PC games
Apparently that is what this forum is for

I would assume the console versions would have seperate programmers wouldn't they?PilotJoe wrote...

Ah blast we've gone off topic.
O wait ok i'll push it back to the topic.
Maybe these are console shots.
Let's take a moment to think about how godaweful Oblivion looks on the console compared to the PC.
Now let's all take a deep breath, relax, and laugh at the console people for getting the short end of the stick for once

There's no way we would have been on page 17 by now if these didn't look the way they do. There are pages that have been going steady for 5 days that aren't up to page 17.TheMadCat wrote...

this one is 8 hours old!
-edit math time! There are 25 posts per page, almost 17 pages = almost 425 posts. 425/8=53ish. That's almost a post a minute for 8 solid hours. That's a buzz is what that is.

Sure we would, not only would we have the people still saying it's terrible but we'd also have people saying how it's exactly the same along with the usual defenders.

I'm afraid your right. Although the changed combat could be good for the console users - luckily I'll be on a computer this time, so pressure's off - and at least it's not changed for the rest of us. Although you said your example was off topic, it does prove that Bioware has a bad history of giving fans what they want - or at least listening to them too literally. Hopefully this means that the "somewhat"

Plus if the pictures looked exactly like Origins people would be calling fake left and right and Chris wouldn't be getting nearly as much pleasure out of the chaos.

The picture with the Ogre should not have been released. The disciples look like they haven't been rendered
That and the Ogre doesn't look nearly as menacing as in the first game, in my opinion.
Looks goofy compared to DAO's ogre. I remember freaking out at the first one in the Tower.

Look at the face of the old ogre, then look at the facial expression of the new ogre......it really looks like it's about to cry.

Not as much as I will over the coming months if this IS what DA2 really will look like.

Compare Xenosaga 2 to Xenosaga 1
It's like this, but in reverse, and worse than this if those end up being the final products (I mean that Ogre pic just looks terrible, the ground isn't really rendered, the faces of the Disciples aren't, the Ogre itself looks odd, the background looks a bit glitchy)

"These exclusive hi-res screens of Dragon Age II showcase the new artistic direction for the game, depicting the new designs for darkspawn Hurlocks and Ogres. The team at BioWare is also aware that many gamers weren't satisfied with the graphical quality in Origins; Dragon Age II not only looks better, but sports a new artistic direction that gives the world of Thedas a more distinct visual identity."
And that distinct visual identity is...................triangles?
Honestly, Bioware, I want to know: Who the hell complained about the artistic direction or designs of the Hurlocks or Ogres?! You did it right the first time, now walk away.
It's almost as if George Lucas made videogames.

I almost expect it to try to talk, but then it couldn't, so it would just be some guttural moaning noise... that's just me though.
