the surroundings looks like something from a PS one game, but as I said, the reviews will kill this if it looks anything like this when it comes out

Now we're just tumbling into hyperbole. All video game visuals are stylized. None of them are 100% true-to-life which means they're stylized in one way or another.PilotJoe wrote...
I would still be pretty mad because of the stylization they've chosen to go with. I have never, ever seen good stylized visuals in a videogame. I think they look cartoony and crap.
Not to mention that they are cartoons. They're animated. All of them. By definition they're cartoons (unless we go all the way back to text rpgs....) so complaining that they look cartoony is just a way to rationalization a personal preference and make it sound more important than it is.

The main problem, at least as far as I'm concerned, is not lighting, shader effects or whatnot, these thinks might still get tweaked, but design, and that most likely won't differ much if at all from what can be seen in those two pics. We'll have to get used to those huge pyramid thingies and spikes sticking out all over the place and that mister Oger clumsy face, unfortunately.
How do you know how the design is? This is the 1st screenshot, I would wait for more screenshots of monsters before we can comment on the direction of design.
How many different models of hurlocks were there in the first game? Oh thats right, there was one. And ogres? One. Extrapolating the new look in these screenshots onto the rest of the enemies is hardly a stretch. Also, when would you like us to let the devs know they're screwing up? The day before launch when we absolutely know nothing is going to change, or as early as possible, in the hopes that things might?
There is nothing wrong with pointing out how comically bad these characters look.

You're confusing artistically rendered:

With stylized:

There is a BIG difference.

Okay I exaggerate but I seriously think they might have shown screenshots which weren't visually 100% on purpose.

Guys those screens were "awkard" on purpose. Don't you see. They delibarately made them mediocre so when the game comes out the graphics will look "super hot" and people will be like "Oh my god Bioware you made such improvements in a small space of time. To do that would take skill...ungodly skill". And then people will start worshipping Bioware and treating them like Gods for making such massive improvements in such a small space of time and a cult will develop and before long we'll have David Gaider ascending to heaven whilst the world collapses in on itself.
Similar to how Montgomery Scott says it'll take 3 hours to fix the Enterprise but he's lying so when he fixes it in 15 minutes he looks that much more ungodly to Captain Kirk?

"let's give them the ugliest looking screenshots so that they turn their backs disappointed and lose all the interest just to impress them 2 weeks before release!" .... that would be by far the dumbest marketing trick i ever heard of.

Cheers man!
In regards to the screenshots and keeping in mind Hawke can be changed to look cooler, I actually really like the new tweaked look of the game.
But then again, I'm a DA fanboi so I'm very biased.

1. It won't lag on my crappy computer
2. It's a bioware game so it'll be good regardless (graphics aren't everything)

With stylized:
-ditto-
There is a BIG difference.
And I think you're confusing "stylized" with "a specific style"
I use the definition of stylized which is:
Main Entry: styl·ize
Pronunciation:
\\ˈstī(-ə)-ˌlīz\\Function: transitive
verb Inflected Form(s): styl·ized; styl·iz·ingDate:
1898
: to conform to a conventional
style; specifically : to represent or design
according to a style or stylistic pattern rather than according to
nature or tradition
— styl·i·za·tion \\ˌstī-lə-ˈzā-shən\\
noun
The minute something ceases to follow tradition or nature it is definitively stylized. Oblivion is stylized, ME is stylized, BG was stylized, DA:O was stylized. They all conform to certain conventions and work on certain stylistic patterns. "Looks like a saturday morning cartoon" is stylized yes. But so is "Looks like the fantasy art of Boris Vallejo".

Okay, I'll concede this to you; and will rephrase:
The specific style they've chosen to go with deviates from DA:O in such a manner that it now more closely resembles a third-tier MMO rather than a AAA single player RPG, and I for one, do not like it one bit.
Good day, sir!

LOLOLOL, this argument never stops being amusing. I don't know if it's just trolling for fun, pink-tinted shades that make you think those consoles had much much better graphics than they really did, or you simply having visual deficiency not to see that the textures on those screenshots are not a problem and are in fact quite higher res than what there is in DAO...

Good day, sir!
I myself find the shift to flesh-toned-monsters and colorful armor to be a nice departure from the standard technicolor bad guys and monochrome gear of Origins and other fantasy titles. To me, this looks more like what was promised in the Origins Trailers that got me excited about the title in the first place.
See everyone else. Opinions can be expressed in a civilized manner that encourages open conversation.
