it's then obvious that you get incredibly disappointed with the screenshots we have seen

As for new screenshots, I like the new flame effect. I hope all spells are given same treatment. Effects in DAO were really poor.
Now show us some decapitations and nudity. Probably in the same screenshot, please.

yeah, that's what confused me. its probably just cuz mr darkspawn is covering it. its a sword i believe.therewasatime wrote...
I think it's a sword, if you look
closely you can see the cross-guard (although the grip is pretty
long).
do you think we'll get those pretty, expensive looking sword hilts or scabbards *_*? or will the weapons float on our npc's back? doesn't look like the mage has one.
bioware take note

It's like they use up all their budget for Mass Effect and the leftovers go to Dragon Age.
If anything, most of Bioware's time is probably going into making Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Do you mean the screenshots for pre-rendered graphics in the NWN engine, or the ones done in DA own engine?Maybe, but in terms of the lighting and polish there was a significant amount of difference. It's probably more telling, however, that the people who ripped apart those first Origins screenshots were the same people here-- who were generally fine with Origins as it ended up looking.Because if it's the former then the game dropped that style completely few years down the road, and if it's the latter then it's perhaps worth noting the style didn't really change much from these early screenshots and the final game got
examinedripped apart for its visual quality just the same...I'm not really one to comment on the art. All I can really say is that the game already looks better than it does in those screenshots-- there's a lot of work being done on all content, and while I get what people are saying regarding the number of months left you have to consider that we're not dealing with a long development cycle here. Instead of thinking months, think "percentage until complete". It's still pretty early, as far as we're concerned. Hopefully you'll like what we show you in the months to come. From my perspective, I think what I'm playing looks quite striking.Incidentally, could you comment on the brightness of those screenshots? I mean, they look like the gamma level is way above normal on them (even things which should be in shadows are very bright and there's very little contrast overall) i'm just curious if this is accident when saving the images for the web sites to use, or is this part of the new "graphics style"?
So its safe to say what will be shown in the upcoming trailer, will not be in game, but a pre-rendered story based trailer, like the Sacred Ashes one, if its even that much, and not just the equivalent to most announcement trailers.

Those darkspawn(if thats what they are) sure look different. I wonder if that is purely artistic or if they have changed since the end of awakening.
yea, they are very LIGHT SKINNED to be the darkspawn. maybe they're a new "evil" in this new area of the dragon age world?

Hmm, one thing that bugs me a little is that our dear Hawke seems to suffer the same fate as most "Action Heroes" these days: Arms as thick (or even thicker) then the head...
Oh well, but that's just a matter of personal opinion. Although..., come to think of it, customizable body proportions would be neat.

Bioware should license a 3rd-party graphics engine for all their games. Mass Effect 1+2 look great, but the graphics of Dragon Age 2 and The Old Republic are just disappointing. It seems that graphics aren't one of Bioware's strenghts.

I disagree. There were moments of emotion on the foce of our PC in Origins. Remember Return to Ostagar? The scene where you meet Cailan again.

I'm far too busy squeeing over the mage robe in the second set of shots. It's not a sack dress! WOO!
and the blood on the ground looks amazing. I'm now even more certain that these were taken while textures were being designed and polished. The detail on the skin and blood are leaps and bounds above the detail of the ground. I say there's nothing to worry about. These are testing phase. Everything will be better in the final product. (heck just a simple angle change made the darkspawn look better!)
Those were cutscenes not battle. And maybe facial animation wasn't completed when these were taken.DrunkDeadman wrote...

Well, Dragon Age is kind of like that. Only the thing isn’t in Dragon Age’s mouth; it’s around it. The thing is Dragon Age’s face.
Fortunately, Dragon Age 2 is trading its muddy, bleary-eyed look for some eye-candy, at least, if BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk is to be believed.
“I think one of the key things we’re working on in Dragon Age 2 is the technology,” he told Joystiq. “I can confirm that we’re doing a lot of work on the Dragon Age engine, and doing a lot of stuff to pump it — to make it visually super hot.”
“I think the overall visual style we’re going to continue to evolve in Dragon Age,” he added. “People are going to see some cool … I can’t really say too much, but I think Dragon Age as a world is interesting. It’s a timeline, and you can go anywhere.”
Anywhere? Even the future? Can you say “Dragon Age-Mass Effect crossover”?
Yeah we can't wait to see the super hot graphics in Dragon age 2, or did it not work ? :-)
