It's always best to wait and see the game in actual motion, before one should comment on how it looks. Pictures don't do some games justice.

Usually, but those looked so incredibly bad, id rather not see that in motion for fear of throwing up.

Correct, those are around 2004-ish when they were building Dragon Age using the Neverwinter Nights engine.

This is how Fantasy RPG should look like in 2011

I don't really care about graphics, but I expected the game to be at least on par with it's prequel.
I wouldn't mind the game on the same engine as DA:O.

Those are crazy good graphics, I love the forest especially!

Truth. But as I said earlier these are pre alpha graphics. I'm seriously going to need to update my rig to play that. I haven't updated it in awhile.

Still hate the new darkspawn deisgns.

Too much ****ing angular ****. It looks dumb.

No reason to abandon a perfectly awesome armoured ogre design:
http://guidesmedia.i...s/Image_285.jpg

EDIT:

The game being pre-alpha really doesn't mean ****, considering it's a sequel seemingly based off the same engine with many of the same base assets as DA:O.  Also, if they're willing to show it off then Pre-Alpha can't be used as a defense against criticism.

Uh, then you DO care about graphics. M'aiq thinks you should think before you post.

I have seen few games with atmospheric perspective as good as TW2.

The cartoony look really isn't making this sequel any more attractive (to me anyway) than it does SWTOR. Nor really is the revamping of the darkspawn with...edges. Everywhere.

One would hope that these are shots from the earliest development of the sequel, rather than an indication of how it is to look on release. Honestly, to me Origins looks a great deal superior to this. I'm not crying 'you're ruining MY game Bio', but I would say that this sort of presentation would certainly be a consideration when it comes to buying the game: as said, not a positive one either. I don't expect to see absolutely cutting-edge, true to 'life' (with ogres) detail, but I agree with those here that see it as a distinct step backwards.

Definitely hoping that this is the early pre-alpha/alpha stuff.

The game was just announced. It is OBVIOUSLY not the final product.

Not trying to be negative or troll just putting my thoughts out there but that just looks -ugly- not the grafs but just the art style they just lookx_x like horrible i don't even want to look at the mobs. I like how the PC looks but the mods art style just... not my thing but that could just be me and I am just giving my thoughts

Rockstar did quite well with RDR. A much different enviroment but they did it will.

The slightly depressing thing in this is, Witcher 2 is roughly as far from release as DA2. In other words they have similar time left to improve further...

It's like they use up all their budget for Mass Effect and the leftovers go to Dragon Age.

The stated release date for DA2 is March 2011.

While the skin tone of the Darkspawn is just downright strange the way they are structured looks amazing. In the Gameinformer magazine there is a much closer pic of the Darkspawn it looks wonderfully gruesome. These are early builds, but the dragon pic in the magazine looks pretty cool. and even has a surprise in it. >.>

"Super hot"? Please, those visuals are anything but impressive. They're rather bad, in fact... Why can't we get something on par with Mass Effect?

On the other hand, they may still be playing with the art style and thus haven't bothered investing much graphical detail yet. But if this is what they're 100% going for, this is terrible news. I've seen better looking textures on the PS2.

What, exactly, is "on par with Mass Effect"? No, I mean seriously. That's such a blanket statement.

I'm just saying that in regard to the visuals. Nothing more.

I understand that. But what do you mean? What about Mass Effect was so different from Dragon Age?

Again, it's alpha so it can be improved.  But perhaps it's not too late for Bioware to license CryEngine 3 or something? :?

Truth. But as I said earlier these are pre alpha graphics.

You should know that The Witcher 2 is also slated for Q1 2011 release.
I really hope that these are only Pre-Alpha screenshots, and not their new Art Direction.
Lack of lighting and low res textures shoul make the game look more cartoony.
But this looks just horrible, still I will buy it. I don't care that much about graphics.
And though I'm maybe not as much DAOist as some of you, I really enjoyed the first part. :)
