Again, it's alpha so it can be improved.  But perhaps it's not too late for Bioware to license CryEngine 3 or something? :?

Hello DarthBrian.

BioWare? License an engine for a game that is already half done?

Random note to burst some bubbles but I don't think that's a tat on Hawke's arm.

If you notice, it's not there in the other picture. It's more likely blood spatter.

I'm also surprised people are so uhm... well.... I dunno. Maybe it's me but I just automatically figured these screens were early-development cycle and used for the sole purpose of showing the detail of Hawke and to give us a vague idea of some other changes.

Ignore the ground, hurlocks, and the ogre and focus entirely on Hawke.

While the skin tone of the Darkspawn is just downright strange the way they are structured looks amazing. In the Gameinformer magazine there is a much closer pic of the Darkspawn it looks wonderfully gruesome. These are early builds, but the dragon pic in the magazine looks pretty cool. and even has a surprise in it. >.>

So there are better-looking shots?

Uh, then you DO care about graphics. M'aiq thinks you should think before you post.

Yeah I think  I also shouldn't drink before I post, and I definetly should write that english is not my first language. ;)
What I tried to tell, is that though I don't really care very much about the graphics, I find the level of detail on these screens to be dissapointing even for me. (Who really don't care that much about graphics ;))

I wonder if these images weren't saved with wrong gamma level by accident, though. They look considerably better with gamma turned down a couple notches (the shot with ogre in particular is definitely overlit, given where the sun is)

The game was just announced. It is OBVIOUSLY not the final product.

Of course, however it could still be indicative of a general artistic direction that would not be altogether pleasing, in my opinion - certainly not in comparison to the current game. ;)

If they are merely very early graphics, not indicative of the final product's state, then no worries.

I'm confused, the Bioware man said they would look hot.

Did he mean hot as in a dog poo in the microwave? It looks worse than Dragon Age imo.

Most of the other pictures are just from this battle seen in the pictures, same terrain and enemies, some mage pics too. But the one with the dragon is much more detailed, scales and all.

Come on, people, they ARE indicative of the final product. Or you really think they'll redesign the whole game and write a new graphic engine in like a few months? It might improve, a little bit, but this is pretty much how it'll look.

This must be embarrassing for BioWare knowing that most people agree these photos are just absolutely terrible. This seriously looks like it belongs on PS2/Xbox/PSP/DS systems and NOT on PC PS3 or Xbox 360. Someone please tell me it's a joke or at least these are alpha stages.

Definitely hoping that this is the early pre-alpha/alpha stuff.

It is it's going to come out until Q3/Q4 2011.

The stated release date for DA2 is March 2011.

No they didn't you got a piece of paper with a date. That said nothing. That is most likely the date for the second expansion to DAO.

I'm not a model or texture artist, but I think the graphics look good. A lot of people claimed that Origins was ugly, too, but I didn't see it. It looks like the models in these screenshots don't have any lighting effects cast on them yet, and the clothing Hawke is wearing seems kind of flat. But I like the color scheme and Hawke's skin texture looks good too, as does the ogre's. The new darkspawn are different. They look more like ghouls than the darkspawn we saw in the first game. There may even be a cool lore reason for the distinctivly different look. The texture on those henchmen guys looks a little boring, but I'm nitpicking now. They're not the best graphics I've ever seen in my life, but I wasn't playing the game for it's cutting edge graphics (though the lip syncing was an incredibly immersive feature).

People are ignorant, if my memory serves me correctly the game was announced oh what 6 days ago? I expect some delays, so there is plenty of time and room for improvement.

Just to follow up on this, same screenshots with less thermonuclear lighting levels

The piece of paper stated February 2011, EA's press release stated March for a release. The paper likely wasn't a release date, but apparently something pretty cool that is obviously Dragon Age related on the date stated, or at least near it.

It's like they use up all their budget for Mass Effect and the leftovers go to Dragon Age.

If anything, most of Bioware's time is probably going into making Star Wars: The Old Republic.
