I liked the finishing moves but they just need to add more variety to them and give each weapon type their own set of animations so as mentioned earlier it won't look so silly to finish an ogre with a mace.

Some of the animations could be slightly shorter like the ogre one but I think the dragon finishers were fine since they were really flashy and cool. Also dragons are very rare so when you get to finish one off it's always awesome.

The first screenshots appear to feature one, so it looks like they're still in DA2.  But I found they disrupted gameplay, and I'd like to turn them off.

I'd like to ask for the ability to turn them off.

I say make more finishing moves

They said finishing moves allow combats to 'flow' better. But technically, it disrupts my combat abilities as I am literally 'stunned' while using a few seconds to perform a marvalous stunt.

Imo, finishing moves should give the player some sort of buff after so it can be more attractive. Also if one can control it (like mortal combat? heh) would be awesomesauses too! I always hated Sten stealing my thunder when he always seem to ninja that last killing blow from me. That giantantic basterd!

If you're using the PC version then a mod called Forced Deathblows has a file which turns off deathblows I believe.

Or you can just play a solo-mage and then you never have to see them.

The finishing moves is the only thing that makes me enjoy the combat nowadays.

I always liked them, then again for the majority of the game, then again, I had most of mine being on Darkspawn which don't take too long, one on a high dragon and a few on Ogres (I only got my first Ogre finish animation in Orzammer as the last place I visited though.)

Having an option to turn them off sounds reasonable, people who like them can still have them while those that find them irritating can just switch them off.

I wouldn't mind if some animations led to some advantage in fights afterwards too, perhaps at the end of the ogre animation, the character could leap from the Ogre as it is falling and land on another enemy for a little bonus kill.

Well, as long as you're asking for the ability to turn them off, I'm with you. Otherwise, I quite liked them, even the ogre one, and if they make them different per type of weapon or something similar, then I'll like them even more.

An option for turning them off may not be a bad idea, but I hope that people from Bioware don't read topics like this and think that everyone hates the finishing blows.  I liked them, and it's not like you go through dungeons full of ogres.  During boss fights, they added a nice exclamation point to the end of the battle, and finishing off the dragons was especially nice.

We could have the OPTION. But I really loved the finishing moves, even some were way to long and/or repetive in that there were only one way to finish the enemy (the Ogre one). And yeah, I sure hope Mages get some finishing moves with either spells or with their staff (think Gandalf from LOTR).

Short said. More finishing moves, alot more varied and for all types of classes.

Nice. I'm going to go try that now. If they can't offer this as an official option, hopefully we can at least mod it in DA2.

EDIT: Bleh, this is why it should be an option within the game. According to the page, ogres and dragons still get deathblows even with the minimal install. Is there anyway to turn it off completely?

I like finishing moves, however, I would like a way for me to CHOOSE which character does it. More specifically, I would like my PC to do them. Too many times my PC would be hacking away at a guy while the other are healing, or falling or whatever, and then wooosh, they come out of nowhere and do the final blow.

Not cool.

On my first playthrough I didn't even know there were finishing moves for dragons, because I killed them with mages.

Fighters were superfluous in the game -- just the way I like it.

I think it would be better too add a function too actually hit a button or somethin when a finisher is available instead of random ones. And only finisher i didnt like was the decapitations because where the hell did their heads go they just like disapear.

The Ogre one is the only one I have a problem with. This has occured many times when I played DAO on my 360; right after the finishing move is done on the ogre the game would sometimes slow down like it was still doing the finishing sequence. So if they give us the option to turn off finishers or not have finishers on Ogres i'll be happy.

According to the recent German article (IIRC) mages will get finishing moves in DA2.
