Link? As far as I know no dev has stated this, I know lots of people assume you will be able to, given the direction with the rest of the character custimization, I'm not ready to assume that.

From the GI link
2. Hawke is human.
Yes, that means that you won't be able to select Hawke's race. However, just because that one aspect of Hawke's backstory is set doesn't mean BioWare is eliminating character creation. You can still choose your class and customize your appearance. When we visited BioWare's studio, we only saw (and heard) the male Hawke in action, but the team promises that players can select either gender for the character.

Having the PC talk and not having origins immediately makes the game a fantasy Mass Effect?contown wrote...
Voiced PC, no origins anymore.... This is just like a fantasy version of ME. How is this supposed to be a sequel?

Well, because its not a sequel. Dragon Age is about events in the Dragon Age, not about the grey wardens

We don't know enough to know that yet. I doubt it's going to be a clone like some people are assuming. Mary Kirby said that Shepard was much more defined than Hawke is and that Hawke is just "somebody" that you play as. I'll post the quote if I can find it.

"Commander Shepard is a much more specific character than Hawke is. Shepard is one very particular marine chosen to do a particularly challenging job. Hawke is somebody who goes from being a refugee to being important to Thedas history somehow. Defining who Hawke turns out to be and how that happens is sort of where the player comes in to the story."

Gender yes. Appearance unknown as of yet.
I dont see why we wouldnt be allowed to change our appearance and yes we will have customization to some extent, but how much customization is yet to be seen.
I wouldnt be surprised if Bioware do cut down on the number of customization options since we are playing a pretty defined main character, however we do know that you can change your gender and class.

if he is just someone you play as then why not make it so you can name him and choose an origin or race? They obviously want it to be more in the direction of ME. Not saying it is going to be a clone but they want it to be like ME otherwise it wouldn't make sense to change the whole concept DA was built around which was that the hero was yours to create and mold, not just mold.andar91 wrote...

I think hte opposite. Since we have to play a human then they'll have more time to better define our customization options. People keep saying Hawke is defined, but that doesn't mean he/she's THAT defined. Granted, we don't know a ton yet, but I've been getting the impression that we still have a great deal of control over our Hawke.

If that is the case and from what it has said this new Hawke will be the guy thats saves the world or the hero that was needed.., but they should have made it just Dragon Age and not part two, it's not even near what Origins was. They say to save your game from Origins to import over to DA2, but just what would even matters, from what it seems it's like your Grey Warden ( Tom Hanks) was taken out of the main role and they put in some guy for Hawke like Powers Booth. To me their is no kind of ryme or reason for this, but Hawke will get to live out the life your Warden was going to, with your past friends and lover..thats just down right hateful to do.

All I can do is direct you to the quote I posted a few posts up. Other than that, I don't really know how DA2 will be like yet. I just don't know enough.

The naming standard is obvious, Dragon Age 2 because it is the second game in the Dragon Age Universe. The general consumer would likely be confused if it were merely called Dragon Age (Hell, look at what microsoft did with Xbox 2, they called it 360 not because it spins but so the average consumer wouldn't think...hmm playstation 3 must be better because it's 1 more than 2). As for the friends/lovers thing....I honistly don't follow you. The import of your saved game will, from what we understand, effect some of the world by using the choices you had made. We had been told we may see a familiar face but in no way would I assume that the friends/loves have anything (relatively speaking) to do with the new story.

How do you justify making these kinds of assumptions about a product that we know very little about?
