So many people on these board are so upset that we don’t continue the story of our Warden. However Bioware never said that these games will fallow one hero. In fact the first game did a very good job of making sure we did not have just “one” hero. Something the rest of the people are complaining about. I always assumed that Dragon Age 2 would fallow the story of someone new.

And people are saying things like ”Oh well we don’t play as the Warden in DA2? Well then I won’t buy anymore DLC for Origins!” Why? It is still a continuation of a game you seemed to love. If Bioware had not announced the sequel you would have bought it? If they never made a sequel would that add something? I honestly don’t get this attitude…

They did not tie loose ends with DAO so they wanna have that character reach the end of his story.

They grew attached to them also...bit wierd imo.

I agree with you. It always seemed clear to me that this series was about exploring this big world that Bioware had created and was really excited to show us. Once Awakening came out to use the Epilogue save, I became pretty sure that DA2 would have no continuation of the Grey Warden.

Honestly, Dragon Age is a wide world, and the Wardens are just one part of it. If the Blight isn't the main story anymore, I'd be annoyed to be stuck in the Grey Warden role. Origins lets us see the world through six different pairs of eyes; Awakening can use those or add another. I want to see someone else's point of view.

Many morrigan romances are not finished...she ran away with the wardens kid for a lot of them.

But I think at the end of Awakening they delibrately make the endings open ended so you can imagine the ending how you want... Or as a lead in to something new, I guess many were expecting that.

Ends are left loose for a reason, the unknown is far more interesting than being told an outcome...but take what I say with grain of salt as my favorite author is HP Lovecraft

They Changed It Now It Sucks

That's pretty much it. As for myself, the opposite was true: I was somewhat mad at the fact that Awakening didn't acknowledge the US ending of Origins, so I didn't get that or any DLC for Dragon Age since. To this day, all I have is the Warden's Keep DLC and I now sorely regret having missed so much.

I can almost bet there will not be any more left for the warden and the story he/she had from DAO, You won't have DLC or any more Expansions, I can only see him being put in a codex you find that he is dead and to find that ind DA2 I would stop playing right there, then there is no hope for the character alot of people made, but I bet David makes it where its years from the time the Warden was alive.

Everything stinks about what has been done to the Warden, hell I still have alot of points to use in my DLC but I can see that that was a waste of time for I had hoped for a Expansion...at the least for my Warden.....but it seems David has made that story, for the Warden end in DAA. I don't what to do with those points now, they are not going to do me any good, It's all about DA2 now and there will be no more for the DAO fans of the Warden, it's over and he or she is dead in the minds of the Writers, Hawke will head up their next 3 or however many games they seek to make.

Opinion.

DAO was all about choices.
And seeing the effect imo.
They did not let us see everything.
Thus many were unhappy.

Still plenty of time left before DO:2 comes out. Maybe they will do some more dlc or another expansion to resolve some stuff.

I'm glad they're doing something new. Hopefully you're not forced to be a warden again. It's a huge world. I'd like to visit every part of it if possible in future games.

I personally wanted to import my warden but I'm still buying DA:O stuff. I guess hating DA is just their way of lashing out against Bioware for choosing not to follow up with the wardens.

My standards might be lacking but at the end of the game we were given a synopsis of the events that followed.  I suppose I don't understand what was left to be done.

But isn't this the end story for most relationships?

Yup, he confirms it in that thread, and he has said it in many other threads over the last week or two.  There will definitely be more DLC.

Part of it is that some, myself included, can't help but compare this series to Baldur's Gate. I know, I know, the rest of you are probably sick of hearing about it, but just hear me out. Or read me... whatever. Anyway, one of the things that I, and others, loved was that we got to take and develop our character across multiple stories. Their relationships with NPC's from the first game could take a dramatic turn in later ones. Same in Mass Effect. When Dragon Age was announced, it was billed as Baldur's Gate's spiritual succesor. Naturally, those of us who had devoted so much time and love into Baldur's Gate assumed that everything we loved about the prevous series would pop back up in Dragon Age. Ultimatly, I think we assumed to much, and are now paying the price for it. Some, like myself, are a bit dissapointed but ultimatley optimistic, this is another Bioware fantasy game! Others are mad.

I did too, but thats not what the writers had in mind. I know I sound like a baby but I grew close to the Warden, felt he or she was to be the great hero of this story, much like they are saying Hawke is, but that is not to be. I really hope DA2 is good, it's just not going to be the same, I wanted my Warden to go all over the World that David had made and save his friends and go on alot of close calls, I felt that he was the one to make the world better and his father said " our son will make his mark on this world". I really felt that hey we can do this and make everthing right and hope for better days, not to die on some calling or in the deep roads........thats cheap and shollow way to end such a great character.

I get all that but the peoblem with all that is you are a Gray Warden.  Once Origins ends you kinda do to.  Even if you make your character King or Queen then they just sit around in Deniram.  They will always be a Warden and worry about Darkspawn and nothing else.  Not to mention they will die rather young.  And anyway whenever Dragon age 3 comes out if it ever dose will fallow a whole new character.

I agree with you I'd bargain just to play as our wardens in Orlais or somthing at least. But I respect Bioware's choice;who knows DA2 might actually be good.(however those screen shots I saw were discouraging)

I pretty much agree with Blastback.

I do not understand the 'this is the end then, there's no point' mentality about it. Unless the sole reason you were playing the first game was for the hope of importing your character to the next game (which strikes me as a very odd way to play), there isn't any less point or fun to be had playing the first game, or expansions, or DLC.

Mild disappointment is about all I feel on the subject. It would've been really neat if it did continue like that (in my opinion - I know others disagree), but I'm fine with a new character, too, and I didn't actually have any expectations about which way it would go.

I think some people might also expect a little too much from the word 'sequel'. If you see a book or a movie that's a sequel, you probably expect it to continue with the same story and characters from the previous one, often right where the previous one left off. People tend to assume the same of games, even though it's less likely to be true.
