What I mean by that is, it's a horrible rushed sequel, that gets streamlined to death and overall is no where near as good as the original.

I've seen the screenshots, and read about all the changes, honestly this sounds horrible, it hasn't even been TWO YEARS sense the original game/expansion was released and they're already pushing out a SEQUEL, that sounds like it's being rushed too! (The main character can only be Human judging by what's been shown so far, can't transfer saves, etc)

The artstyle also looks boring, generic, cartoonish and stupid, (*cough* The Old Republic *cough*), apparently the sun got extra-bright between the original game and the sequel too, everything is bright and just looks wrong.

I've already learned my lession from Valve with it's Left 4 Dead series and other game series too, there's no way I'm buying this, it's so obvious it's being "dumbed down" to appeal to the masses, IE for the same people that play MW2 and Halo and can't go five seconds without something dying or insulting someone over the internet.

I mean seriously! LOOK AT THIS! The Darkspawn look like saturday morning cartoon villians!

Hm, I'm trying to decide if this rant is flame-bait or you're a serious DOOMSAYER.

How is stating my opinion on a forum "flame-baiting"?

I'm really getting annoyed at the number of people crying about 'x' and 'y'.

'Wahhhh! Bioware is spitting in the faces of old and loyal Bioware fans!'
'OMG DA2 isn't gonna be like DA:O! Imma kill myself now!'
'Hi, Im Glenn Beck. I have a theory about DA2, now I want the Devs to prove me wrong!'
'HOLY %$#@! Did you saw dialogue wheel? Bioware is dead to me!

Pretty sure that's an alpha build and not what the finished product is going to look like visually.

That's not even remotely similar. RPGs are all about the story, so Bioware making a new one quickly is not a negative thing, as the story will be new. They are also single-player, so no matter what DA2 is like, the experience of DA:O will never be affected by it.

L4D is a co-op multiplayer FPS where the game mechanics are the most important thing, so releasing a 'sequel' so soon after the release of the first makes the first obsolete, as the new one has new features, and the fanbase is split down the centre between those who want to play with the new mechanics and those who want to continue playing the original. Because it's a multiplayer game, which is dependant upon the online playerbase, this impacts negatively on both.

I wouldn't be "crying" if DA2 didn't look like a saturday morning cartoon with horribly dumbed down gameplay and story.

OP, you realize you only saw two gameplay screenshots..?

*sighs*

You know what? I'm not gonna bother anymore. I can't be bothered to repeat myself. You'll just have to get it through your thick skull that the game could be entirely different when it comes out--hell, it might be good as it is, but you're not giving it enough chance.

But... Left4dead2 added to leftdead making it less streamlined and it was an improvement graphically, content and game play wise. =]

I agree though, Darkspawn look like gay hunks on Halloween, at least before they looks like orcs.

I hope you don't expect them to change the game's engine just because you're unhappy.

You don't need any graphics when you have an imagination.

The game isn't even 12 months away, unless Bioware pulls a miracle out of their asses, this is going to end up horrible, If they started working on this RIGHT AFTER the original game came out that means they haven't even been working on it for two years by time it's released.

I doubt they would be working on a cartoony sequel the same time they were making the darkish/realistic original game.

I am hoping that those screenshots are an earlier build and that the graphics will be much better in the final game.

However I do have to wonder about the change in skin colour for the ogre, new breed of ogre?

They don't have to change the engine, they have to change the art style, which is the textures/models/etc.

I hope Bioware stops making their games look like Cartoons, first with ToR and now with the sequel to a good and fun game, I hope they don't butcher Mass Effect 3 with this crappy art style.

Oh jeez, why did you have to bring up Star Wars The Old Republic. I agree that their choice of art style was bizarre and a huge turn-off. I hope to god DA2 isn't going in that direction.

Well, it's not even finished. The game is still unfinished. This is what the art style is going to be like, whether you like it or not. Honestly, they're probably still perfecting the art style anyways, but I highly doubt it is going to change much in comparison to this.

Ugh, no thanks, they're supposed to be Western RPGs, not JRPGs with stupidly oversized weapons and characters and bright colors.

I want everything to look like it fell out of Willy Wonka.
But it is an early screenshot so maybe the final build will have more candy trees and rainbows in it

Cartoony doesn't mean JRPG.
