Come on!!!  Who doesn't have dreams about moving all of the discs from the far left peg to the far right one in the least number of moves???

But seriously, puzzles and riddles are usually my favorite parts of games.  Maybe it comes from loving adventure games, back when that genre actually existed, but I feel far more satisfaction from solving a puzzle without using a strategy guide than I do when defeating most enemies.  Boss fights can be fun, but often can be defeated only by brute force, with no careful planning involved.

DA:O had several puzzles, but they weren't very difficult, and the riddles were very easy.  Please, more challenge, and more unconventional puzzles!

I know I'm not completely alone on this.  Post here if you enjoy sliding blocks into place, lighting torches in the proper order, and guessing which doohickey each riddle is referring to!  :wizard:

You have my vote, I'd prefer something a little more difficult than that puzzle game in ME you referenced though, Original riddles always go over well with me.

I actually WOULD want the Towers of Hanoi to return to a Bioware game.

Loved it in Mass Effect, and would love to see the same thing in DA2.

Just one question- How would they implement it? Where? Why?

And my...assault rifle? :D

and yes, more puzzles would be nice (tho' nothing as tedious to do as the one in the sacred ashes quest :P )

in a tomb or something? DA:O had at least one puzzle in the Sacred Ashes quest thingy (tho' I felt that that one was rather tedious to do), so having a puzzle wouldn't be out of place (to answer the 'why?' bit)

The thread title is a joke, towers of Hanoi puzzles were in both KOTOR and Mass Effect 1, but all we have in DA:O is a grave in Haven when you visit a second time, marking the demise of T. Hanoi.

As for implementation, puzzles are usually placed in ruins and dungeons. I would love to see them in unexpected areas, also. Who doesn't love a good riddle when sneaking into a vault???

Hail no.

Did it once in KOTOR. Never did it again, as I just avoided that room altogether.

(define primitivetoh (lambda (disc src aux dst)
(cond ((> disc 0)
(primitivetoh (- disc 1) src dst aux)
(display (list "Move" disc "from" src "to" dst (newline)))
(primitivetoh (- disc 1) aux src dst)))))

Apparently I once knew Scheme, but I currently have no idea how this works.

Don't like those Hanoi puzzles at all. For one thing, they harm the pacing of the game.

I'm not opposed to puzzles, but I think the Towers have seen their day and now rest comfortably in a retirement community.

We'll see if we can get something else into the mix, but...god...not the towers again.

How about some Lufia-inspired multicolored blocks?

What always annoyed me about the Towers of Hanoi is how easy they were. I could do them in my sleep. I think I was 10 or something when I first tried one, and I worked out how to do it almost immediately.

I hate puzzles. If they're in a game that I otherwise like, I'll search the forums or the net to find the solution rather than wracking my tired old brain trying to figure them out.

I really hate puzzles.

Some people are good at puzzles.

My friend thought I would never finish the Continuity game, but I blazed through it, starting after her and finishing.

She gave up.

I'll add something else. I have a tendency to play through Bioware games a few times, so something that is somewhat randomized and has a different solution every time would be my preference.

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't happy that these weren't returning, but to be honest, I didn't mind them, outside the one from KoTOR, that is.

Puzzles, yes. I want puzzles. Lots of puzzles. Really hard puzzles.

But no riddles. I hate riddles. Riddles aren't about thinking, they're about thinking like the person who came up with them. Of course, with the dialogue wheel, it's pretty much impossible to do a decent riddle (or a mystery, really...see the Liara Shadow Broker informant quest) so I'm not too worried about it.

Also, if the Towers of Hanoi do show up, someone is going to get beaten severely.
