While the ocassional mindbender now and then isn't too bad, being trapped in the world of Myst would be a living hell.

(Hawke arrives in the Free Marches and is immediately challenged to a game of chess by a suspicious gnome sorcerer of great power.)

Gnome: "You must win or face certain doom!"

Hawke: "Ok, but I suck at chess. Can't I just go whack something?"

Gnome: "Well... I suppose, but what fun would THAT be?"

(Hawke walks away)

I'm not opposed to puzzles, but I think the Towers have seen their day and now rest comfortably in a retirement community.

We'll see if we can get something else into the mix, but...god...not the towers again.

I liked the puzzle with the bridge over the chasm in DA:O, although it was a bit too easy. Can you put some harder puzzles in DA2? :)

I would love to see more puzzles. Normally I can just breeze through them. I love Puzzle Quest. ~Hugs her multiple copies of Puzzle Quest~

One thing I never liked in any game is the mini games. Square has put me off ever liking a mini game for the foreseeable future.

I'm tempted to make a mod that adds the Towers of Hanoi puzzle to DA:O.

In fact, any time you go to pick a lock, disarm a trap and otherwise interact with the environment you should have to complete the Towers of Hanoi puzzle.

Do it!

Even add random encounters on the travel map!

Nooooo, no Towers of Hanoi!

Well, maybe. Optionally. Hidden. As an Easter egg. But not otherwise ;)

I liked the puzzle with the disappearing bridge in the Gauntlet (at Andraste's ashes). Some more like that would be cool. But not too many. At a basic level, this isn't a puzzle game...

Come on!!!  Who doesn't have dreams about moving all of the discs from the far left peg to the far right one in the least number of moves???

But seriously, puzzles and riddles are usually my favorite parts of games.  Maybe it comes from loving adventure games, back when that genre actually existed, but I feel far more satisfaction from solving a puzzle without using a strategy guide than I do when defeating most enemies.  Boss fights can be fun, but often can be defeated only by brute force, with no careful planning involved.

DA:O had several puzzles, but they weren't very difficult, and the riddles were very easy.  Please, more challenge, and more unconventional puzzles!

I know I'm not completely alone on this.  Post here if you enjoy sliding blocks into place, lighting torches in the proper order, and guessing which doohickey each riddle is referring to!  :wizard:

Agreed, puzzles are awesome. I'd really like to see lots of them, like there were in BG and NWN! The one in Honnleath wasn't half bad, but it was the only one I think (aside from the elven ritual if you consider that a puzzle I guess).

Anyhow, signed. More puzzles! :o

Puzzles in BG?

All I remember was the trapped alphabet floor.

If anything, I'd like the puzzles to feel less out of place.

in DA:O the Fade and the Platform puzzles by the Ashes were alright, but the Honnleath one was like "why is this here?" Then there's the one in Awakening in The Wending Wood which was just "Why is this here in th... wtf"

Definitely another Mages tower Fade section type thing would be pretty cool. One of my favourite sections of the game even if it is a bit dry to go through repeatedly.

Ha. I would totally play this. Reminds me of the new puzzle lock sequence in Puzzle Quest 2.

I find that Mass Effect 2's mission design was a bit uninspired, so yeah, I'm all for more puzzles in DA2. ESPECIALLY the Towers :)
