The GI article implies that Varric is narrating about Lothering. He is talking to the Seeker, who wants to know "how Hawke escaped from Lothering, and Varric reluctantly tells the tale. At least, he tells the version he wants the Seeker to hear." She wants to know because she wants to understand Hawke's actions. The world is on the brink of war, and the article implies Hawke is somehow related to this. Then it shifts to Hawke's POV.

Edit, regarding multiple narrators: Also part of the article: "Narrators with unique insights into the events in question tell the tale of his [/her, meaning Hawke] past adventures." Mark Darrah says it is similar to The Usual Suspects in this regard.

Ha!

Another war? Hawke as an instrumental catalyst for Thedosian revolution? Narrators who has heard of Hawke from hearsay? In fact, narrators having their own motives and agenda? It sounds like the player will fill in the details.

Illuminating.

Interesting tidbit on the narrating.

It would be interesting if the different narrators colored their story depending on how you treated them previously. For instance if you just didn't like "Varric" and were a D-bag to him he would portray you as being one in the next chapter, even if you were nice to everyone else. I'm sure lots of people wouldn't like that for RP reasons, I'd find it amusing though.

That could work. DA is all about choices and their consequences.Posted Image

It would add personality to the narrator, so I'm down with that idea.

I'm not sure how that would work, unless the narrator is obviously unreliable. It sounds interesting, though.

So the 20 white figures in the background of the picture on the DA2 website, are those all narrators?
Or are they a mix of important characthers (narrators, party members antonegists).

God I hope he's the villain. It'd definitely be different & unexpected for Bioware to have a scummy crimelord as the major antagonist.

And hey, he'd have more depth than the crappy Archdemon.

Yes, it would be great that at the start of the story this tells about being at the brink of war and it was because of Hawke's involment.
But in reality he played Hawke like a puppet and kept most of the eyes away from what he was doing, or something like that I am not good at this.
But at least this way we also get to know the villian.

She is part of the Chantry, something called a Seeker. I believe it said something like "Templar Internal Affairs" in GI. (Yes I got mine in the mail today! Teehee!)

Sounds like a mage hunter who hunts mage hunters. Them chantry guys really can't get things working huh? Posted Image

Obviously he is the Illusive Dwarf and the chick is a Perfect female made of lyrium called Miri.

Its both extremely funny, and very sad that it looks exactly like that. Clearly drinking replaces chain smoking in the Dragon age.

So Varric is a narrator? I don't know why but the whole narrator thing seems really appealing. I wish my GI would come. </3

Doesn't he have one? Not a great big bushy one, but a small, neatly trimmed half beard.

Clearly this is a dwarf of wealth and taste.

here in a gamespot article appears the name of the dwarf. And we learn a little more about the woman, or at least, it's confirmed:

- As our demo begins, we witness an exchange between a male dwarf named
varric and a female chantry seeker........She wants to know how Hawke
escaped from lothering, and varric reluctantly tells the tale. At least
he tells the version he wants the seeker to hear, and the scene fades to
lothering and shifts to hawke's perspective.

Yes. This one.

Even better. Posted Image

No no no.....orlais women are too feminine. The one in the picture wears heavy armor.....she's no bard she seems to be an actual warrior. And considering DA2 isn't verly likely to take place in orlais that just seems all the less likely.

Her staff reminds me of this:

Combine that with the fact that Kirkwall is right next to the Tevinter Imperium and I'm willing to bet she's Tevinter.

So, you forgot about Aveline? I have no idea where she might be from - the dark haired one, I have no theory about it, but I don't think that the women from Orlais cannot be warriors because they are too "feminine". :)

Well done Darth_Trethon, the shape of the War Mage's amulet bring the Tevinter Imperium in the heart of the story through its symbol.I don't see now it could be different.

I wouldn't think that Aveline was anything more than a bard story but even then Aveline was a gladiator of sorts and a woman like her would be an extremely unlikely sight in Orlais. As I said Kirkwall is extremely close to Tevinter.
