No no no.....orlais women are too feminine. The one in the picture wears heavy armor.....she's no bard she seems to be an actual warrior. And considering DA2 isn't verly likely to take place in orlais that just seems all the less likely.

So, you forgot about Aveline? I have no idea where she might be from - the dark haired one, I have no theory about it, but I don't think that the women from Orlais cannot be warriors because they are too "feminine". :)

I wouldn't think that Aveline was anything more than a bard story but even then Aveline was a gladiator of sorts and a woman like her would be an extremely unlikely sight in Orlais. As I said Kirkwall is extremely close to Tevinter.

Also Aveline was raised by the Dalish, so she'd hardly be a typical Orlesian.

The story of Aveline is the story of how the women of Orlais were permitted to become knights. The are rare indeed, but they do exist. :)

I'm not debating if the woman is or not from Tevinter, she might as well be and as a personal preference, I hope she's going to be.

here in a gamespot article appears the name of the dwarf. And we learn a little more about the woman, or at least, it's confirmed:

- As our demo begins, we witness an exchange between a male dwarf named
varric and a female chantry seeker........She wants to know how Hawke
escaped from lothering, and varric reluctantly tells the tale. At least
he tells the version he wants the seeker to hear, and the scene fades to
lothering and shifts to hawke's perspective.

So is that confirmation that DA2 will start in Lothering?

No it that's true then you get to play a rather inacurate memory without ever actually seeing Lothering in DA2.

@darth_trethon Kirkwall is actually no where near tevinter mate, it's located on the waking sea shoreline in southern free marches... Extremely near ferelden

She has a question, and he answers in the form of narrating the game. He doesn't narrate all of it though, just a part of it.

It should be noted that she looks similar to Morrigan.

That's my guess anyway, on what we know.

Tevinter is the closest and most plausible place for Hawke to rise to power. Ferelden is mostly out of the picture completely in DA2 beyond Hawke's escape and the Free Marches are more like a desert than a country. So yes.....as far as DA2 is concerned Tevinter is the closest and most plausible place that we're likely to see. If we are to go to Tevinter we'll likely neeed some sort of guide to take us there....someone who knows the way as Hawke has never been outside ferelden before....so someone from there would be the ideal plot device. Plus her being a human female makes her a potential LI and we all know that all BioWare games have them so introducng her early would be a good idea. As I said.....all clues point to Tevinter.....unless Hawke intends to become king of a mostly empty and depopulated area but somehow I don't think that's what BioWare has in mind.

She is part of the Chantry, something called a Seeker. I believe it said something like "Templar Internal Affairs" in GI. (Yes I got mine in the mail today! Teehee!)

I think dwarves would make excellent templars with their resillience to magic and lyrium but how will they be able to use it when they reach their advanced templar rank...?

@Darth_trethon. I don't really believe that tevinter is "the closest and most plausible" country for hawke to rise to power... I see nevarra as a much more important country then most think. It's codex entries indicate it's growing strenght (matching orlais) and I'm also of the thought that hawkes main task may lie in uniting all the city states of the free marches under one banner for his cause (whatever that may be).

I ain't ruling out tevinter but I are much more plausible options before that... Just my thoughts

Since some think that the woman guarding the Dwarf is the risen Andraste, then I guess he would be the Maker.^_^

The Imperial Chantry, I believe, has revered fathers and the "Black Divine" who is a mage. The Orlesian Chantry, if I remember right, refuses to acknowledge its existence. There's a codex entry...I think in the chantry in Lothering...hm.

As a side note for those who forgot:

There have been 4 Exhalted Marches on the Imperial Chantry by the "Main" chantry... all of them have failed....

The dwarf's name is Varric, and he tells you story to the woman who is a seeker from the Chantry.

Didn't one of the BioWare guys create an official poll some time ago asking people what part of Thedas they would be most interested in seeing in a future game or something? I think Tevinter followed by Orlais were the two most voted countries.

Evil mage here thinking of how he could use the Tevinter Imperium to his advantage.

Well I think that proves the Orlesian chantry is obviously the false chantry.

Infact... I quite like the idea of the Imperial chantry.

Nah, it's just that no one can take Minrathous. That and all their mages, I'm sure.

"Guarded by high walls and powerful Golems, called juggernauts, protected by powerful Blood mages, the City is a lasting symbol for Tevinters glory. No army, neither the hordes of the Archdemon Dumat, not the Exalted Marches of Andraste nor the great legions of the Qunari were able to conquer the city, as long as it was defended by loyal Tevinters.
