By the way, to re-answer the question of what to wear for your date with Flemeth, since the Dragonbone plate IS sort of a catch-22 (gotta beat a tougher dragon to get it lol), I'd suggest The Juggernaut plate + Ring of the Ages (if you can afford it) +Apprentice amulet. That gives you a total of 45% fire resistance. Not the best, but not that bad. You'll take about half damage from her breath attack.

Incidently. if anyone in your party has poison making skills, This would be the time to use all those Bombs you've been accumulating in your inventory. At 80 damage per pop, they're valuable in this fight. Even invaluable.

well, thats not actually what its for either. You can dispell crushing prison with a couple other techniques such as a templers dispell magic.

It wasn't actually supposed to be used on party members on purpose, hence its labled friendly fire.

A templar's Dispell Magic  also  has the "Friendly Fire" label on it.

Conclusion: Not supposed to be used on party members?    Posted Image

OHH ya lol this is on console. Well i didnt know that. Ya those spells help a lot but i'd hardly consider them making the game a joke but no i cant zoom in and out and all that fancy stuff :P.

Still though..if it was considered to be used like that, shame on bioware. Ya paralyze and sleep are effective sure, but not more than reasonable i dont think

Lol well i guess that shows me.

Now im more dissapointed that bioware would include such an overpowered ability than. Enemies should know when they are hitting a force field.

I mean they let mana clash get by which can one shot mage bosses. The highest hit I have for it is 2282 and I know for a fact people have gotten it much higher than that.

Some pretty good advice being put up on this thread, Steel. Without even intending to, people here are mentioning  ways to dominate the battles in this game without the use of Healers or healing poultices.

Mana Clash - Consider that nasty fight with the 4 mages in the Bracilian forest. Without mana clash, that fight can be a long and grueling affair, easily making you consume a dozen healing pots. But a single mage, casting a single Mana clash takes all four of them out instantly, before they can do a single point of damage to you.

Forcefield-- Say goodbye to long and painful fights with Dragons and Revanents. and other bosses

Cone of Cold- Say hello to insta-shatters of full health enemies. Say Hello to an instant 5-10 second halt of multiple enemies and THEIR dps.

Next up:  the cheeziness of Blood wound.    And the  crowd control goodness of Sleep + Horror

i know, all these tips are great, too bad this thread didn't start with that intent lol.

its the tactics that don't rely on healers or pultices that are truly worth noting (although i'll always have a mage be a spirit healer)

Do you guys consider that tactic cheap? killing flemeth with bows and arrows or is that considered exploiting her stationary fighting?

Hell, no, I don't consider it cheap. She's a freakin' dragon spitting freakin' fireballs at you. :P How is that any more sportsmanlike than using a puny bow/crossbow?

I love perspective. ^_^

Flemeth was a bit difficult for me with my first Warden, as I tried to pay a visit to her right after Lothering.... *sighs*

Mana Clash is a great spell vs demons and mages; too bad the cost is taking two lesser spells and Spell Might which eats mana like pocorn. I only take it now due to the Respec mod, and RP having a spellbook! ;)

lol i actually like that line of spells. a lot of spells people say are useless are actually extremely powerfull under their prerequesite circumstances.

Just so you guys know, you were absolutely right. Im trying morrigan and although she doesnt have the healing capacity from the start in comparison to wynne but you don't really need it.

Since i've got her iv not used one potion. mind blast is better than i ever made use of as well as horror, i didn't know they worked on elite creatures.

Glad to know we made you see the light... :P

"Mind blast" can be a lifesaver and "horror" can be as good as "paralyze" (even better if you cast on an enemy that's under the effect of "sleep").

lol or see the dark, according to morrigans nature.

I doubt i'll have any problems at all once she becomes a spirit healer.

thatll be a nice party right there.

heh! I still get a kick of when Morrigan says, "I am no healer!", and I reply "That's what you think!".

after playing through with morrigan it is possible but i still wish there was another healer and i'v actually heard that there is another healer class being created and brought to us via DLC. supposedly it is called "fade healer" now i havn't heard a lot and it may be just hearsay but from the abilities i know of here is what it will entail. Apparently the lore is that this is what happens when a spirit healer is actually possessed but keeps his/her sanity.

Invigorate (stronger heal spell)

Reanimate (kind of like lifeward except the character actually dies and then respawns instantly with a massive bonus to defense and constitution but when combat is over dies AGAIN, so sustaining two injuries)

Life siphon (siphons life from all nearby enemies into a single party member)

AND Fade intervention which apprently is supposed to be a sustained ability and causes all of your party members to become possesed by benevolent spirits, thus you cannot control them directly (have to rely on set tactics for everyone but the mage) but they gain massive bonuses to defense, health regeneration and increased constitution.

How much of this is true we will see, i heard this simply from rumor.

The reason why i created this thread still stands though. Just because morrigan can be an OK healer does not mean more options arn't wanted. For instance originally we only had alistair for choice as "tank" and bioware realized this and gave us shale. Thus giving us more options. Yes you can make sten an OK tank but thats only after reworking him. He is meant to be a two handed warrior just as morrigan is actually ment to be a damager (bioware has mentioned this in multiple interviews about how morrigan is supposed to be the damager and wynne the healer).

it is possible to rework her but her loadout is geared towards being a damager, we can't really use the abilities that happen in darkspawn chronicles as a guide because, for one, leliana has war cry, wynne doesn't have any healing spells beyond heal and regeneration.

BUT all i'm saying is another healer type character would be appreciated just as they added another "tank" character. It doesn't have to be a conventional spirit healer. but that fade healer class would be perfect, just like shale was perfect for "tanking".

Oh great, you and your "the game is meant to be played this way" obsession again.

Also, Leliana can't have war cry because she is a rogue.

lol its not some wierd obsession, as i stated you can play her however you want. But i can give you the link where they state morrigans role. She was meant to be the oposite of wynne. how is it not clear what her loadout was meant to be as? every character has a clear, painfully clear, preference for certain types. Yea you can make sten a fine tank but was that his clear intention? not so much, he starts focused on the two hand abilities for a purpose.

AND leliana is exactly what i mean, in origins she cant use war cry, but she does in chronicles.

Im not saying theres only one way to play it, i could care less how anyone else plays. But i am saying that there are clear preferences for certain roles for the characters. If you really think that morrigan was setup to be a healer something is wrong with you lol.

There are multiple interviews that talk about the characters and their roles. Again morrigan and wynne are meant to be as yin and yang. Morrigan the dark magic damage dealer, wynne the good kind hearted healer. Its almost a duh statement.

yes you can change their roles up if you decide to, never said you cant, but are there clear preferences? yes. yes there are. You can make morrigan a healer just the same as you can make alistair a two hand expert. But is that his clear preference? no, and is that her clear preference? no.

SO all im saying is that another type of healing would be cool, just as shale offers another type of tanking, even though you can change sten into one another tank that is made for the role is nice.

And apparently, according to this rumor, bioware thinks the same as i do, options are always good...

Leliana doesn't have War Cry in DSC, a rogue can't have warrior talents.

I have this suspicion that you saw her activate her Song of Courage talent and since it uses the same animation as War Cry, you though she had that talent.

She does not have War Cry. You are mistaken.

I had my ability names on and it said war cry under her... lol. The character are changed up quit a bit for chronicles.

on the contrary she SHOULD not have war cry but she does here. its not that big of a deal that she does though, the DLC aint that difficult.

On point though imo thatd be perfect. another type of healer would be a nice break from the spirit healers that the game favors (if you'll notice there are spirit healers in every facet of the game, origins, song, awakening, even golems of amerakk has its version of a spirit healer)

Since I am not a jerk and can openly admit a mistake I hereby offer you an apology. As it turns Leliana DOES have War Cry on DSC....

WTF!!! They turned her into a warrior for that thing?!?!?! I admit that I hadn't noticed because when I first played that thing I wasn't paying much attention (especially to Leli since I didn't wanted to watch her die..:crying:). It looks like they turned her into an warrior/archer instead of a rogue/archer. Hmpph.... silly Darkspawn Chronicles.

With that out of the way I still think you're making too much of all the roles and ways a character should be built. Just play and have fun.

Also, I have no idea of this new healer class you're talking about. I haven't heard anything about it and I somehow doubt that Bioware would introduce a new class via DLC. If it was an expansion like Awakening then maybe. I certainly wouldn't oppose it.
