I don't post here very often. To be frank, I find too many people around here to be close-minded, or ignorant, or plain rude. Not everyone, of course. And it isn't limited to these forums. Anyone who's taken a turn around the information superhighway knows that it's like this all over the interwebs. Even so, the amount of hate that's being thrown around here is staggering. Hate for a game that's only been announced a week ago. Hate for a game that nobody knows more than 1% of all the information about. Probably significantly less than 1%. Asking for it to stop would be incredibly naive, so I'm not going to bother. What I am going to do, however, is simply ask that everyone take a step back, breath, and stop railing against this game for what you assume it isn't, and start asking what it is. For example...
It's been said that Hawke is somehow important for some reason, but how and for what is the basis for this game. Does that mean that you can actually be the villain of the game?
It's what you do that defines you...

Well to be fair "asking what it is" doesn't accomplish anything since all it does is stir up more assumptions amongst the masses seeing as the the only people who do know don't feel like saying anything.

Hawke's destiny of becoming "Champion of Kirkwall" kind of implies that you can't be an outright villain, but a tyrant or dark hero could certainly make for an interesting champion that still fits the objective definition.
In short: We don't know, and we won't unless the devs tell us.

Even bad people can become champions based on the circumstances at hand, sometimes people turn to the lesser of two evils for help. Chronicles of Riddick come to mind.

I disagree with your title. It's why we do what we do that defines us.

And how we do it!
Your faces with a impossible decision of saving a city of a keep (DA fans know what im talking about)
Do you gleefully blow up the city to run and save your home?
Do you moanfully blow up the city to run and save your home and many more lifes?
Do you brag your fort will hold and try to safe the city?
Do you rationalize in deep thought your fort will hold and try to safe the city?
How you do a act tells as much about a character as the act itself!
I think many folks worried that with voice overs for the main character, the actors emotions rather then the players intended emotion will rule the day.
Which does in fact limit their imagination and over all character profile!
