just a total, primal, immediate reactionary opinion, to when i first looked at the new GI shots.

looking at them reminds me, visually, of DA Journeys, meets DAO, meets Borderlands. and for some reason, it looks like the gameplay could be somewhat similar to Phantasy Star Online?

let me explain, maybe Bioware has addressed the public opinion (whether 100% or 5%) that we want co-op/MP. for some reason, those shots to me look like if they have real time combat, that maybe we could co-op like PSO, and if that were the case i would have such a nerd boner that my body would deflate just to pump the blood "elsewhere".

and by "elsewhere" i mean the "nerd area"...

EDIT/PS- i love the way the game looks so far and i hope the community doesnt cry bioware to change anything.

cause let me add, at a second glimpse, i see stitching in armor/clothing UP CLOSE!!! i see muscle tone, skin texture... man...

aslo, i noticed, looking at the older art render of the wide panned vista, i see a very evolved looking city, bridge and an a FAR stretching land, maybe denoting a more open world type of exploration??? looks really cool.

I honestly think they're just dramatic-angle shots of deathblows. You can make similar ones with DA right now.

The new color scheme/design/whatever I am not a fan of (but it's hardly ready to be released, I'll give it time), but reading a new combat-style into it I think is overboard.

well, i did say it was an immediate reaction. translation, i wouldn't "bet" on anything at this point. but Bioware has said that the combat IS different, so is that so 'overboard'?

Probably before most posters time here but the screen shots remind me ALOT of Dark Sun drawings from back in the early 80s. It was a AD&D spin off. Very simular art style.

I've got no problem with the look of the 'hero', or at least not the close up shot, even if the slightly more cartoon look will take some getting used to, but I just think the Ogre and his two friends look hideous.

They are not the finals though, I think it will be a while until we see a fully finished "rendered" shot of the game :/

I wish people noticed the more good points like different armor :) But I reckon it was a bad blow posting up unfinished work shots though as a lot of people seem to think that is the end product.

I just HATE the look of the darkspawn!!!! What are they (BioWare, not the hurlocks) thinking?!! Whatever warranted this total overhaul of the look of the darkspawn?! The hurlocks look like something out of Grim Fandango, wich is a great game, but doesn't have anything at all to do with DA.

I'll admit that Hawke looks cool, and the armor is fine too, but it simply doesn't look like Dragon Age to me. This looks more like some cartoon for kids. DAO had armor that was based on real life armor suits, but this...?

I guess I'll just have to wait and see more of the armors and enemies, but so far, I don't like it one bit. Image IPB

its a tad odd to me that in my opinion, bioware is changing IPs either for sales via EA, OR, because of a vocal minority on forums and elsewhere.

when they announced the changes to ME2, i thought to myself, 'ok, theyre prepping DA for their hardcore RPG fans, and ME for the shooter/RPG fan, thus covering a LARGE portion of the gaming public and obtaining great sales.

but now were seeing DA changing, is it like what happened with ME1 how people complained about elevator rides and now we get to stare at load screens instead? thats better? although they are the most beautiful load screens i have ever seen. lol

so, what is the MAIN driving force behind the DA2 changes? maybe theyre not as heavy as we perceive, but there are changes.

so were at a point in bioware's life where changes to both these IPs are almost so big that the writers of the mythology are actually needing to change/alter the mythology itself due to (BLANK SPOT HERE)?

whatever the reason is, money grabbing, fan service etc...

Ok, I just want to say that they are not Darkspawn. Darkspawn are to instill fear into me every time I see one, now I just want to laugh at them. Why change something that works? Did BioWare get bored? I haven't lost faith yet but it is certainly withering. I think the trailer might decide whether this is a buy or to avoid it, and probably BioWare games in general aswell.
