Well, some of the failures of Cerberus where made due to abysmal Stupidity. Well ok, some of the Stupidity is actually not intended for Cerberus, i don't think bioware wanted them to be too stupid to close doors, which made the thorian Creeper disaster what it is; otherwise they could have closed the doors and most of the People would be still alive.

Regarding thorian Creepers: You don't research anything influencing the human Mind with something as complex as, well, the human Mind. So many uncontrollable Variables. Whatever happened to Lab rats? Anyone with half a Brain would pull the Colonists out of there and make attempts to research the mind control first.

So binary Helix is also stupid.

Any unintended Stupidity aside, i get the Feeling that Bioware wants Cerberus to be this super ruthless guys who will kill 5 humans to save 6. Torfan Shepard would be a perfect Cerberus employee. Not because of the hatred for Batarians, but rather because of the ruthless, cold and calculating behavior.

The Mission was accomplished. Several Alliance Soldiers got killed, but that only means that they wont be able to participate in the next mission.

Something just came to my Mind about the Rachni. Cerberus and everybody else could have known that Rachni are sentient beings. I don't know why the Information about the Rachni would be classified several thousand Years later.

In the Mission where Shepard kills a Bunch of Rachni attacking Alliance Soldiers, he kills Broodwarriors and a popup Window explains that, according to "ancient Recordings from the Rachni war", Brood Warriors will only fight if the Rachni hive is in great Danger. Killing the Brood Warriors will end the Mission.

TIM does seem to "accidentally" hire a lot of mad scientists. I think he needs to revamp his screening process.

It's called plausible deniability.

It's only plausible if it doesn't form a pattern.

Miranda is also in so much denial about Cerberus that it is hilarious.

The pattern is like this:

Good results and kept secret?
TIM:  Good job!  Everyone gets a raise.

No results and discovered by Alliance/press?
TIM:  I had nothing to do with that.

I wasn't trying to say they were moral, only that they weren't as incompetent as some people say.

And regarding the Rachni, they are a hive minded species. It is unclear if the drones who they were exeperiementing on have any significant intelligence. It would be like taking apart a Geth Recon Drone-- technically a member of a sentient species but not necessarily having any more feeling than a lab rat.

Overlord makes me suspect that the writers are trying to make Cerberus stupid after all. All those failiures in ME 1 and 2 may be explained with uncreative writing (a Cerberus cell eaten by their own experiments again? And again and again). But a third time makes it look like a pattern. But who am I to claim to know what the writers intentions are?

Well she is supposed to be a very smart person so a lot of denial about Failberus is needed in her case.

Well if:

Every if every Rachni they looked at didnt kill them

Every Thorian Creeper they had not gotten loose

Every Dragon Tooth in 10 miles didnt turn them into husks

Every "Reaper/Derelict/Advanced tech" didnt blow up in their face

Every "super soldier" project not fail or make people like JAck or Toombs

They didnt manage to fail against Shep every time in ME1, or 2. Saren did better than this.

Didnt support a "HERP DURP" rasisct political party, that makes humans look damn stupid

-also their logo stinks.

so yah thanks to the above they dont give me any hope for them at all.

You only know about the things that were wrong not those which actually worked.

I heard they donate backpacks full of school supplies to disadvantaged human kids and rescue shelter animals.

Thos backspacks had indoctrination devices and the shelter animals were accidentaly left next to a Thresher Maw nest.
in all seriousness, you don't choose whether to work with someone or not because they might have succeeded at one point. I wouldn't work with an organization that fails so epically so often because they might have done something really cool before.

Miranda: I'm an excellent judge of character, Shepard

Miranda proceeds to get betrayed more times than any other character

Miranda is basically the Peggy Hill of the Mass Effect universe.

Except that when every single project that gets discovered is a "rogue cell" that he didn't know about, it kinda just looks like he's lying. Hence it becomes implausible even if the excuse worked the first one or two times.

Also when that excuse is applied to liberally, it makes TIM look incompetent instead of evil since he can't keep track of his cells.

Seriously. Either he's lying or he needs a better HR director.

Shepard, I did not put Reaper tech into that dog. The dog kennel turned into a rogue cell!

Shepard, I had no idea he would feed that baby to a varren. I just asked him to find out how long it takes a varren to eat a baby. That operation went rogue, I tell you! It wasn't may fault.

TIM: if I was in charge of that, I would be smiling.

Shep: you ARE smiling.

TIM: -exhales smoke- that isn't important, what is important is if you kindly would believe that that cell was rogue and I had no way of knowing they were conducting inhumane experiments.

Shep:..... -wanting to say something but unable- okay, seems plausible enough.

Shepard: What's this area of the ship?

EDI: This is the memorial for the 30 workers who died during the construction of the Normandy, Shepard.

Shepard: I found my hamster turned into a husk with a tiny spike in his cage! Your doing I assume TIMmy?

TIMmy: Don't draw such far fetched conclusions Shepard. Just because I have sent hamster sized spikes to the Normandy doesn't mean that Cerberus had anything to do with what happened to your hamster.

Have you ever listened to a politician?  As long as he's consistent, people will accept anything.

Except he's not running for office. He's running a known extremist group.

What is this thorian creeper disaster everyone keeps talking about?

Was it the Exogeni facility on Nodacrux? That wasn't a Cerberus experiment.

When TIM heard about Rael'Zorah's geth experiments. His first thought was "I could make a bigger disaster than that!' and thus, Project Overlord was born.

Whatever. I think the thread title says it best. The people they lost are red shirts-- the Illusive Man doesn't really care about losing them. We really don't know if what they learned from those experiments outweighed what they lost by losing their teams.

The choices and tone of the game make a lot more sense if Cerberus is competent. They certainly seem to freak out the Council and the Alliance, which wouldn't make sense if they are as bumbling as people say.
