I present to you:

Exhibit A:

And:

Exhibit B:

The point of above is that things change. What something looks like Now (in this case, Exhibit A) can look completely different, a la Exhibit B.

the wheel destroys depth of conversation and reduces options of personality.

People seem to overlook the redundancy issue of repeating exactly what was said.

Lets give them an example-

Leliana-"Ooh shoes! I love shoes!"

Player picks-"You love shoes!? Wow, we have a lot in common Leliana!"

Then, in a voice-

PC-"You love shoes!? Wow, we have a lot in common Leliana!"

I don't know about most people, but I don't want to be playing Déjå Vu all day.

There is going to be a clear divide

For many (not that I cared I would prefer a voiceless system, but I also believe that dialogue wheels or hte like are the future especially after playing ALpha Protocol) guiding around a character that engages in conversations without talking seems out of place detracts from the experience and kind of seems like everything is talking to a puppet.  Now this forum is the first indication of something I have never seen before in my years of gaming is that people like the old system because... the characters are talking to them personally?  I don't really get it, and now I have lost my train of thought

Not really, Alpha Protocol is testament to this

seems to me that they did and your just upset they didn't listen to you.

way to pass judgement on something you  haven't even seen yet though, kudos on that!

have u ever been on these boards

I'm on the boards quite often actually, but thank you for your concern.

There are a large number of people who wanted a VO, just like there are those that don't.  Those that wanted one now get one, what's the problem? You've had it your way for a long time now, let others have their turn. Or are you planning on taking your ball and going home?

Let others have a turn. LET OTHERS HAVE A TURN!

Excuse me but i believe there is a game called MASS EFFECT AND MASS EFFECT 2!

Dragon Age is the last biowere game that is in the style of old RPG and many would not like that to change.

Guys, Baldur's Gate was released 10 years ago, and NWN was more of a toolset than anything.

This is in line with KOTOR, Jade Empire and ME. Incremental improvements to the storytelling engine. DA was kind of a step back compared to their normal direction

There have been SOOOO many of the old style of RPG.

Why is it wrong for people to want more of the newer style? You could always go back to your old school RPG's just like you're implying people should go head to other games for these newer features.

Two pictures some concept art and half a paragraph of information is clearly enough to make a well informed decision.

coupled with what they have done in other games, downloadable content and have said in interviews and you have quite a bit of information to work on.

but to put it simply the removed the conversation system that allowed you to define your characters personality with alot of variance, only to give us an emotion based wheel which will result in that im watching a character feel instead of the feeling that the character is what you make of it.  the cut the multiple origins and restricted us to one race.  the new look is less real and more cartoony.   they cut all the main selling points of the first game, all of the stuff that got me interested in this game in the first place hats more than enough to constitute an informed decision.

No, you have a tiny amount of information to work on and a load of ASSUMPTIONS.

Don't get fact, opinion, and ideas confused or else it'll bite you in the A one day.

First off, I was being a smart a**

2nd DA is not even close to being in the style of the OLD RPG. Don't get me wrong it was s great RPG game and I loved 90% about the game. The 10% I didn't love had to do with customization.

There is no need to get upset and lose ones mind over something that we all really know anything about and that's DA:2. Is it going to use a dialogue system similar to ME2? yes, but the key word is SIMILAR, it doesn't not me the same, it means it has some shared traits. It has been stated many times by the devs already that while SIMILAR to the ME2 dialogue that DA:2 will be different.

I love RPG games and have been into the gaming world since pen and paper was the in thing, I've done the BG series, the IWD, the NWN and through all of them people would cry and complain when changes were made, until the game came out and they in fact really liked some of the changes. All I'm saying is give it a chance before condemning it. You never know it might surprise you.

The oversized armor in Dragon Age Origins was realistic?

Absolutely not, anything that embraces the lack of a voice for a main character harkens back to the days where you didn't have voices because of technological limitations.

This is across all games not just RPGs

And this is a video game first, RPGs follow the technilogical trend.  If they didn't they would die.

Bioware games specifically are driven by their story.  They are the ones who built this up, Dragon Age itself kind of shot Bioware in the foot because it was completely against what they had been doing since 2003

Unvoiced protagonists throughout video game history was a product of technology, (or the lack thereof) not some magical RPG developer's idea to add the illusion of choices and immersion.

How is he right?

And before you answer that, be sure to use nothing more than straight FACT.

Not opinion. Not assumptions. Not guesses and foreshadowing. FACT.

Months ago people on these boards told me based on what happened to mass effect that the next dragon age would "streamline" the conversation system, have voice acting and change the combat.  i did not believe them but guess? what they were right.  how did they know this? because they used the kind of information i mentioned as the starting point for their assumpions.

I said they judged based on what happened before.  is that hard to grasp, we have enough info to know the game removed what we liked about it,.  just because you like some of tthose changes does not make us idiots.
