Unvoiced protagonists throughout video game history was a product of technology, (or the lack thereof) not some magical RPG developer's idea to add the illusion of choices and immersion.

But for a game like this or jade empire it was left un voiced for those reasons.

I highly doubt that  such a massive undertaking on the X-Box, of all things, could of handled a voiced protagonist, and I'm all but convinced that DA was left unvoiced because of the sheer volume of VA they would of had to hire to handle every race and gender.

I think you've just convinced yourself that such a thing was done for your personal benefit.

No i know part of it is because would be expensive, but that does not mean that tose things were not taken advantage of in the way the went about implementing the system.  Consider why does fable have no real voice?  because it cuts the feeling your making the choices and immersion

Personally I think it is just because Peter Molyneux believes burping while flapping your arms like a chicken is the ultimate expression of love.

Its not because Nintendo is cheap, its astylistic choice that the creators chose because they prefered it to be that way

No, they are being cheap

The do not want to record Japanese dialogue

Then they do not want torecord English Dialogue

And other languages if they can make the same amount of sales without doing it because their brand is so strong.

Zelda will sell regardless of Voices.  Nintendo has no real competition.  Bioware has real competition and it is even coming from themselves.

The main character not having dialogue is a pretty big point

Old School RPG's are not like DA, DA is a newer version of the old school game. Really think you should understand how old school RPG'ing was done.  DA was a great RPG, but old school didn't use mana and stamina, willpower and magic,  armor and defense, talent trees or any of that.

On the ME2 wheel perhaps, but the DA:2 wheel will not be the same as the ME2 wheel was. They've already stated that you will be able to say  things with different emotions.

From what they said you will have a response to pick, then how you would like to say it (sarcastic, angry, flirty, or whatever)

However I will agree that only time will tell for sure, so no need condeming what we don't know

LIstened to what?  Anouma and Miyamoto making excuses?  I am one of the biggest Nintendo fanboys on this board but I know bull**** when I see it

This is why Super Mario Galaxy had Orchestrated music.  Because of the compliaints against Twilight Princess and its midi music (yes SMG also had midi, but whatever)

your not listening (hehe espicially since your reading)
i was talking over all, to say that some devolpers on some games make that choice for that reason fable was an example. dragon age origins was probably a case of cost,  but still may not of been, but the result was many players feeling more connected to their character because of it.  look at some of the threads about the conversation system you will read  alot about how people about it.

Yes there are some people who feel more connected, there are also some who are not. And there are some who really do not care either way.

Bringing up the likes of Fable and Zelda into the argument do not justify it because they are not contemporaries since they do not have dialogue for their protogonists.

You would be better off bringing up Elder Scrolls games or Fallout 3.

How many times must David, Mary and all the other BW folks have to repeat the same things before people will begin at least to give them some credits???
Why should they write things like this???

Mary Kirby wrote...
Commander Shepard is a much more specific character than Hawke is. Shepard is one very particular marine chosen to do a particularly challenging job. Hawke is somebody who goes from being a refugee to being important to Thedas history somehowDefining who Hawke turns out to be and how that happens is sort of where the player comes in to the story.

Just for joking you??? Just for the sake of lying? I don't think so...
I am not saying people aren't allowed to express their feelings, their opinions, also their concernings.. but before do that why don't they try at least to hear what people say, or better, are TRYING to say from days and days?

Because if it was a dialogue wheel, itd be "Intimidating","Rude", "Bussiness" etc, not what he actualy says. You DONT KNOW what he is goung to say. Thats why text is better, its YOU.

Actually according to the Devs, it's supposed to show what you want to say and then you can choose how to say it.

Oh and it's definately not me because if it was the convo. with Howe would have gone a lot different

That actually a good point.
I dont really like nintendo too much, but the point about this being a sequel and being overly changed is the problem.
People bought and liked the original many want the sequel to work off  and expand on what was presented in the first game not revamp everything.

take something completly different like kingdom hearts 2 or metal gear solid 3, 4.  all fantastic sequels because they took the systems from the original game and expanded and finetuned them.  metal gear did not limit its weapons or become a first person shooter because that was the hight selling trend. and kingdom hearts did not become more like final fantays 10 because it worked so well for the company.  in essence that what bioware seems to have done taken one good game and made it more like another completly different game because its easier and cheaper.
