Everquest ONline PS2 - very deep MMO runs on a console WITH NO HARD DRIVE
Hahaha, joke of there day. Nice work.
Admit it, you haven't even played those games. Otherwise you would never post such lies

The fact he thinks they are deep just goes to show how shallow console gaming is.
Another doubter who has never played the games.

Or maybe he just disagrees with you. And unless you've played every RPG ever made, how do you know wehther they were among the most deep and complex RPGs of all time?

Then again I do not understand this concept of depth or complexity.

I'm always baffled by the amount of hate I see console players getting in these forums. Contrary to popular belief we are not all COD/Halo kids with a distinct lack of anything going on within the brains department.
All this talk of "dynamic" combat is making me very nervous. DA:O was quite simply my favourite RPG of all time and I really don't want to see it dumbed down to appeal to the masses.

Do you really doubt that a large portion of console gamers are casual?
By virtue of being on this forum board talking about DA:O you're an outlier on the line graph that is console gamers my friend. The vast majority of the rest of console gamers are rapidly pressing the y button to skip the "talky talky" parts.

And, how do you know that for a FACT? Most of my friends who play Dragon Age are even more immersed in it than I am.
Mind you, I do play DA on the PC too, but, still.

Neither do I. Apparently it's part of some lexicon that makes people feel smart while playing video games.Onyx Jaguar wrote...
I've played Demon's SOuls out of that bunch. I would pit it against numerous pc rpgs I have played.

I could play Dragon Age, or I could play Castle Crashers. I love both games intensely, regardless of their "depth".

Call of Duty is not a casual game, nor is it a console game.
You would have to look at accessable games. The turn to 3D in the mid nineties turned off a lot of players due to confusing controls, motion sickness etc.
You won't get motion sickness from playing Peggle, Bejewelled and the like. Tetris. These are simple and to the point.
Also dialogue isn't a sign of being hardcore or not, many of the hardcore would skip out on such things to get to the meat of the game because that is fairly new in game design.

Though I have to admit my own assumption falls prey to the same logical fallacy. But I'm not just making stuff up either. All you have to do is read other forum boards, see the type of games that sell really well on the consoles, listen to console gamers and their preferences. Hell, just play any game on xbox live, and you'll hear what your average console gamer is like.
Just take a look around these board. There is a split between those people who want more action, more focused story, rather than an more open ended tactical experience. And for the most part (though not in ALL cases of course) that divide runs through the PC and console crowds.

There are plenty of PC gamers who like to play shallow action games. It isn't like they aren't available to them.
If you said perhaps that the more younger crowd goes for consoles, then very well, I would accept that.

There is little to no difference outside of interface between the two. Both sides now even have the same developers. It is more of a cultural difference than anything. And that doesn't have anything to do with the platforms.

I've played a bit of Demon's Soul and I've played Everquest on the PC (Going to assume the console is at the most on par with this.) Neither of these are what I consider complex and deep, if you want complex and deep play the Wizadry series, pick up some of the Ultima games, Daggerfall and Arcanum are well above Demon's Soul.
They may be some of the most complex and deep RPG's YOU have played, but that in no way automaticly concludes they are 3 of the most complex and deep RPG's of all time.

Thing is that platform is irrelevant when speaking of "dumbed down games", or games aimed at hardcore players. Demon's Souls which is so popular in this thread is in fact the most hardcore and complex RPG so far if we're talking about gameplay/combat.
Personally I'm ok with Dragon Age as it is. It's an easy, casual game already (since Origins) and I honestly don't want it to go demon soulish. I appreciate deep and complex story in Bioware games and combat should not prevent me from enjoying it. That's it.
Just to inform you: until year 2005 I've mostly played on PC, so I've played Gothic series games, Baldur's Gate, Planetscape: Torment and others, including Diablo and it's clones. So far, best combat i've seen belongs to Demon's Souls.
