I doubt the console versions will be nerfed. My understanding is that DA2 is being developed with 360 and PS3 in mind, then it will be ported to the PC. I supose it is easier to do it that way then the other way around.

Ironically, the 80 million Farmville players are as hardcore and non-casual as PC gamers come.

Ironically, the game still has more depth to it than most console games, and it's casual. Likewise with the sims (ported to consoles). [smilie]../../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

This is obviously because the pc has superior controls that can utilize a
superior user interface, due to being superior.

of course, because only basement dwelling pc gamers have the time and lack of a life to develope and utilize such things, where as console gamers are too busy attending social functions, having relationships, and being awesome to worry about such trivial drivel.

Then your understanding is wrong. Go learn some stuff and come back.

Console gamers have been unfairly lumped into the "Brah, drink beer, play MW2" crowd.

That, and on things like System Wars the ignorance of the avg. console poster is astounding.

I have heard things like "controllers are way better than mice for FPS" and "XBOX graphics blow PC out of the water".

These are all likely 15-18 yr olds, while there are plenty of console gamers here who are not like that and are most likely in their 20s.

Us PC gamers see the trickle down effect of "dumbing down" to cater to the aforementioned morons and we rage against console gamers in general.

DA2 on console will undoubtedly suck in comparison to PC, just like DA:O.  But, standing on its own, will still be a great game (probably).

We need the next round of consoles + mouse/kb support and these arguments would go away.

I'd love to buy PC, I REALLY would. I have Counter Strike, Garry's Mod, and TF2 on my computer that I can barely play at all. But I'll just have to wait until I get a steady stream of income before I can get one. :(

Garrys Mod makes little big planet look like steaming pile of crap.

Very over-rated game, Garrys Mod deserves the credit.

It is an engine hog, I would suggest booting simple maps.

I mean my computer is from 2003 and only has a ****ing stupid piece of **** GF4MX series card but I can run Garry's Mod with only stutter on some maps.  (TF2 maps tend to freak out though)

So am I the only one who thinks the gameplay change for the consoles actually might be something positive? I couldn't play the xbox version more than two and a half times before I completely hated the controls and sold my copy. I really missed the old top-down style and the mouse and keyboard. It was really hard issuing commands and get a good overview of the battlefield. Now that I finally have a decent computer that can run the game, I will get a pc copy instead. I am curious about these new controls though. However, from now on it's DA on pc for me.

Sweet. We have devolved into a console war. Again.

While Kinthalis actually had a valid point and managed to contribute something to the discussion, it’s sad to see that the bulk of the ‘more refined’ PC players have come into the thread just to ****** in everyone’s cereal.

I have money to buy a gaming PC. I choose not to. I have chosen to use consoles (I have them all, but use mostly the PC). This is not because I am blind to the glory of PC hardware – I have played PC RPGs from Gold Box, through to Ultima, through to Neverwinter Nights.

I choose to use a console because:

- My wife dislikes me hiding in the back room, and the PC is awkward to use from the sofa.

- Even ergonomic keyboards and mice give me RSI when used for too long

- Less messing about with settings, hardware and other such stuff

- My saves for ME1, ME2, DA:O, DA:A, Fallout 3 and Oblivion are all stuck there.

- I already have all the DLC for ME1, ME2, DA:O, DA:A, Fallout 3 and Oblivion – all of it.

- I enjoy playing RISK, Magic TG, Settlers and other such games online.

This is why I chose to use a console. These are not reasons you should use a console. I’m not trying to win you over. I’m not trying to take anything away from you.

Again, I accept and embrace necessary changes due to limits of the controller - it's what you give up when you forgo a gaming rig. What I would object to is unnecessary changes made to appeal to action gamers

Quoted from werwulf222

But I really think that if you like gaming and spend a bit of time at it, that you'll be way ahead of the game if you migrate to a PC, even if you have to buy used equipment at first, because you can upgrade a bit at a time, as funds become available, and you can play older games and have just as much fun as with this one while you're waiting for funds.

If there were more RPGs I’d be right with you, but there are very few RPGs on PC that are not on Xbox 360. Witcher is the only one I’m jealous for.

Kinthalis ThornBlade:

A 3 year old video card can run almost all cross platform games at high settings simply because the game was designed with consoles in mind. Consoles being 5 year old hardware, even a poor port will run pretty good on an old video card.

The exception comes when you try to play a modern PC only game, and then only those games that are meant to push graphical barriers. Crysis, won't run very well on an old video card, for example, neither will Metro 2033

Metro 2033 is on PS3 and 360.

Just saying.

Larryboy_Dragon wrote... I'm a dedicated 360 player who bailed out of pc gaming due to ballooning costs of hardware, and I settled on Xbox because at the time it had the greater percentage of deep pc-style experiences (KotOR, Morrowind, etc).

lol

Great input. Very eloquent.

‘lol’ all you’d like, at the time Morrowind was typical of a RPGs developed solely for PC and it was later ported to console without losing any depth.

Console gaming is about sitting on a couch and leaning back with a control pad. Sitting on a desk, leaning forward with 104 keys is very different from an 8-10 button control pad. Consoles are best for wii games, beat em up's and Madden, passive entertainment. Outside of that FPS/RTS/MMO/SIM e.t.c.. for pc. Console ruin, very bad.

Console gaming is about playing games for fun.

PC gaming is about playing games for fun.

End of story.

I alos love action hack and slash RPGs like Diablo, or BGDA

But for the LOVE OF EVERYTHING PURE,  don't DUMB DOWN THE COMBAT just for consoles!

Look at how that worked out for Deus Ex Invisible war?  INSTANT PHAILURE!

Party based wrpgs must live on consoles, do not kill them please!

I already have 2 Mass Effects, I don't need DAO to get ME-ified

Damn, I'd rather have action based combat in the PC version as well. How much longer are we going to have to put up with these crappy outdated pen-and-paper mechanics (or "traditional RPG systems") in order to enjoy a good story in a game?

The story IMO is the worst part of 99% of RPGS.

The mechanics of DAO are what make it great.  The strategic combat, controlling party members, all the Baldur's Gate 2 classics

 .

Jade Empire - love the game.  But combat is completely broken and there is no "party" you get 1 helper, who is 90% more effective in meditation instead of combat.

Jade Empire - press block to win

I feel sorry for console gamers and figure they got a raw deal from console manufacturers.

How hard would it have been for them to include some USB ports in their machines while they were being manufactured? .

Fact PHAIL?  XBOX360 has USB ports.  PS3 has usb ports

PS2 had USB ports for crying out loud.:o:O:O:O:O:O:O:O
