Okay this is for the Robert Jordan fans and his series the Wheel of Time. I love Dragon Age of course and through my multiple playthroughs I've noticed similarities between the lore of the game and the lore of the wheel of time. i was wondering what similarities anyone else has seen? heres a few Ive noticed:
The left is wheel of time and the right is dragon age:
Aes Sedai - Mages
Tar Valon - Mages Tower
Red Ajah/Children of the Light - Templars
Black Ajah - Malefactar
The Blight - The Blight
Thom - Leliana/Zevran
Nevaene - Wynne
Moraine - Morrigan
Shai'tan - Archdemon
Has anyone noticed any others?

Ugh... now DA seems almost tainted. I tried getting through the first WOT book about five times and I always give up. There were mainly two reasons why I hated the book.
- I hated the majority of the main characters. Damn near all of them went "WHY ME?! MY LIFE SUCKS!" when they find out they have special powers. One of the characters I actually liked was Egwene, because she actually liked finding out she could do magic.
- The majority of the women in the book were b*tches. Aside from Moraine and Egwene, the rest were just stuck up 'Better than thou' cows.

Maybe they just both conform to well-established fantasy tropes?

Maybe it is because both conform so well to mythical history of western European society, with some Japanese thrown in. All conform so well to the Fantasy Quest norm that is established.

Back to the topic.
Dragon Age: Loghain Mac'Tir
WoT: Logain the False Dragon
Dragon Age: The Qunari
WoT: The Seanchan(The Sheinarans are also quite similar though less extreme.)
Dragon Age: Sarebaas
WoT: Damane
Dragon Age: Ash Warriors
WoT: Wolf Brothers
Though personally I would list Moirane as Wynne.
Morgane is more an amalgamation of many key female characters throughout fantasy writings; an archetype more than a single character.
Another BioWare wheel of time reference: The town/school that the main character of Jade Empire is from is the Two Rivers, just like the main party of WoT.

There are similarities, same as there are similarities between DAverse, and any multitude of other fantasy settings. I don't agree with some you listed but I'm not going to go into dissection mode. The most blatant would the Quanri and the Seanchan, both in philosophy, and to a lesser degree class structure.

What? Sorry, but have you actually read the books? How in the bleeding hell is Moraine anything like Morrigan except that their names both begin with Mo?DivingNinja wrote...

Moraine - Morrigan
They both have two syllables if you remove one of the syllables from Morrigan.

I never played the Awakening content but there are probably some in there as well.
Regardless, Dragon Age is great, Wheel of Time is great. No one complains when they get some peanut butter in their chocolate or vice versa. Keep up the great work BioWare!
PS: I want dueling in Mass Effect 3!!! XD
