OK so I (after beating this at the bottom the 1st time, yea its a biatch!!) was browsing the forums on this topic. So I thought I would help u all out.
1st  - This fight is not hard at all !!! (unless u stay at the bottom) This is not the easy way out so to speak... its just not the beat your head against the wall and use 5g worth of heal pots and 2 hours of your day.

2nd - Just *Think it through... the dialog tells u how to beat this fight if u listen!!  So it is not a exploit, just simply paying attention to what is going on the the advantages at your disposal.

3rd - If u can't figure it out here is how to do it WITH OUT EVEN USING 1 HEAL POT !!

How I figured it out........

Old school RPG gamer (since the 80's in PnP D&D) you ALWAYS take advantage of terrian and allies.

So we have a fire trap set up before the 1st wave comming down the hill ...... right ?
So kill 1st wave and wait for cut scene... then...


 USE them, lock your party at the top of the hill at the hill at the fire trap sight (assuming u found the oil)
there is a LOT of help here but they will not come down the hill.

Simple --- BRING the mobs to them.  The mobs will not go into the chantry.. put Morigain in bear form and kite the mobs up to the fire trap about 8-12 at a time. rinse and repeat about 5-6 times and fight is over.

Heal Morigain before she goes down each time with your healer and you will not loose a single party member and you should not have to burn a single heal pot.

I did this fight 5 times this way... same result   100% win

Don't you have to be like level 9 for bear form or so? The fight will be easier if you're a higher level for obvious reasons, I think. Not that I thought it was especially hard, since I did it on the first try and I'm not even sure what fire oil you're talking about...

OK I went to mage tower  st my 2nd time through  so I was at this lvl ( this is when I did the fight this way) so yea lvl 8/9 and if you take the time to explore the area you would have found the oil barrel.

and....
the fight scales to your current lvl so it has little to do with it other than a few abilities....but u must still use them correctly

but u dont have to have bear form, thats just how I did it.

lol, i ended up going there really late.



just stood back really far and used arrow of slaying. It auto kills everything that spawns and 1 hit kill = no aggro from other



i know that is not an option for most folks, but it was hilarious
