I just downloaded version 20 of the NWN2 Client Extension at the NWVault site, and something I noted while checking the properties for NWLauncher.exe is that it's version is still listed as 1.0.0.19. The ZIP archive I downloaed was named "ClientExtension_1.0.0.20.zip". Is this just an omission from updating the version property from 19 to 20, or do I possibly still have version 19? I haven't installed it yet, so I'll hold off until I get some confirmation.

BTW I've been reading the documents and listings here for what's added and corrected by this extention and I'm blown away by it - well done! :)

I don't always rebuild NWLauncher with every release, generally. The extension module (the HDL) should indicate the canonical version at the top of the console window on startup though.

I installed it and it works flawlessly and corrected any of the quirks I was having  - excellent job. :)

A friend just recently told me about the Client Extension and while this seems like a wonderful enhancement, I am having trouble getting the launcher to work with my system.

I'm running a Steam copy of NWN2 with Windows 7 64-bit, and using version 1.0.0.20, I hit the following error message whenever I try and run the launcher:

"Failed to launch Neverwinter Nights 2 (error 267)"

Pretty much same problem. Steam version, Windows Vista 64. Error 267. Whats the fix  to this problem?
Thanks!

hi i have a good spec laptop with vista running nwn2 through steam
but when using the client ext i still have long load times between areas, i dont notice any improvement
these long load times(eg 80/90 seconds to enter north caer) are killing me and are the only thing stopping me from fully enjoying this game
maybe im not using it correctly... after extracting the file to a folder on my desktop all i have to do is use the NWLauncher?
is this correct?
thanks

What's the contents of the registry values 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Obsidian\\NWN 2\\Neverwinter\\Location' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Obsidian\\NWN 2\\Neverwinter\\Path' on your computer?

These should point to the Steam game installation.

The area loading time improvements are primarily gleaned from running xp_bugfix on the server (with the dedicated server), when using NWNX4.  The largest contributor to area loading times requires a server-side fix that's available using that combination.

It would seem it was missing the Path string, added it and it seems to be working now. Thanks!

You could try running the dedicated server and using that to host the singleplayer module, under NWNX4 with xp_bugfix installed and configured properly.

I can look at incorporating the xp_bugfix load time improvements for single player only into the CE (where the server is in-process), but that may take some time.

I've been using the Standalone DM Client lately to handle minor player emergencies from my workstation, using the Windows Remote Desktop to access the server hostbox. Works great for me. Thanks, Skywing!!

Client Extension 1.0.0.21 release

I've posted the 1.0.0.21 release of the Client Extension. You can get it here:

http://www.nynaeve.n...on_1.0.0.21.zip

The latest release is always available here:

http://www.nynaeve.n...sion_Latest.zip

NWVault page: http://nwvault.ign.c...r.Detail&id=231

Changes in this release include:

- Master server timeout at connection time reduced to one second (down from 30
seconds). This prevents the client from getting stuck for 30 seconds while
waiting to communicate with the now-down master server.

- Creatures that are marked as dead should now stop pathing immediately on the
DM's view of the Area Map window. Previously, they were displayed as
continuing to complete their old pathing orders.

- New GUI functionality for scripts: Open chat input pane with prepended text.
This is an asynchronous request to change the GUI state on the client. To
use this functionality, use the following script snippet:

SendMessageToPC(PCObject, "SCliExt15" + TextStringToPrepend);

This will open the chat input pane (if it was not already open), and replace
its contents with TextStringToPrepend, positioning the input caret after the
prepended string.

- New GUI functionality for scripts: Set targetted object. This is an
asynchronous request to change the client's target pane target. To use this
functionality, use the following script snippet:

SendMessageToPC(PCObject, "SCliExt14" + ObjectToString(ObjectToTarget));

This will cause the client to act as though the player had selected
ObjectToTarget. Once the client processes the request, ObjectToTarget will
show as the targetted object on the server, as well.

Great that you rolled this into the CE, so a manual fix by players is no longer necessary! :)

Are you including the < and > and [ and ], those are generally terms to indicate options.

Assume you'd just do something like ( where ***** is your password )

/connectpw 88.190.xx.xxx ******

Ouch I inclued the < and > and [ and ] i was stupid. ^^

Now it works. Great.

I don't really understand the aim of the standalone DM client. Is that really possible to be a DM in this mod, or is this intented to others functions ?

You can talk to players, and issue chat commands. ( my server has chat commands that do everything healing and killing them, banning them, to adding and removing spells )

The map also allows some interaction to select and move creatures, but it's a lot more text based. There are limited ability to see what is happening on that map and a limited 3d view.

Remember you might be on as a player and not want to log off just to go punish something bad a player is doing, it lets you multitask, really indispensable.
