After a while away, I tried to use NWN2. Just learned that GameSpy dropped it.
I tried installing the extension to my steam version of NWN2 platinum. I get, binkw32.dll missing.
Any idea on how to fix this?

I downloaded NWN2 from gog.com so maybe the problem is that the launcher is looking in the wrong directory?
The error window is titled: Unable to locate game installation
Unable to open NWN2 registry key
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

( using regedit )
from my understanding keys are located
32 bit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Obsidian\\NWN 2\\Neverwinter\\Expansions
64 bit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Obsidian\\NWN 2\\Neverwinter\\Expansions
Could be at another location under GOG instead of obsidian, or might contain different values. Could you pm what they look like on your machine to me? Or note if they are in a new location with the GOG installer.

I had this problem as well, on Win7 64bit. I ran "nwupdate.exe" from the "GOG Games/Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete" directory, which said something like "fixing missing registry entries". This fixed the problem.b0j4ngles wrote...
Hey there, I wanted to fix the problem of backgrounds stuttering while walking and another support thread lead me to the Client Extension. However I'm having trouble getting the launcher to work and applying the .hdl file isn't working either.

- Added native compatibility with the GOG.com edition of Neverwinter Nights 2.
- Added a count of online players known to the multiplayer server tracker (printed to the console window at startup).
- Other minor bug fixes and improvements.

I did have another suggestion to add now as well-- can a name be applied to a hotbar macro?
Meaning that: /setmacro 13 /cast "Energy Immunity (Acid)" ; /cast "Energy Immunity (Fire)" ; /cast "Superior Resistance" ; /cast "Owl's Insight" ; /cast "Premonition" ...
could instead be: /setmacro 13 "Buff Self" /cast "Energy Immunity (Acid)" ; /cast "Energy Immunity (Fire)" ; /cast "Superior Resistance" ; /cast "Owl's Insight" ; /cast "Premonition" ...
So that I could then /setmacro 14 "Buff Animal Companion" and /setmacro 15 "Buff Other" to easier recall what each button now does.
Right now all my macros are labelled "Barbarians" for some reason. Even better than just the ability to name would be a way to specify an icon to use too to replace the ugly missing image icon though that is cosmetic only whereas the ability to name a button would be more important a feature.

First of, thank you for all you've done and are doing for our community.
I read on the NWN2 Vault where you said how /mpredict can be added to autocmds.txt to turn off predicted movement permanently. I do not have that file anywhere on my computer. Is there another way of doing this?
Sorry if this has been gone over already. I might have missed it somewhere.

Otherwise, you can list it manually with the add server button at nwnlist.com.
If you're going to be doing more than just occasional multiplayer hosting, I'd recommend using NWNX4 -- www.nwnx.org, see the NWNX4/NWN2 developer forum there. There is a NWNX4 plugin (xp_bugfix.dll) that will auto-register the server on startup and fix a bunch of crash/other bugs in the game server itself.

Currently, the game host itself won't trigger this when hosting the game (with or without the CE). It is worth considering for a future release, however.

I had the stuttering issue, and your CE fixed it. Amazing.
Do you know how to enable/disable crossfire when running NWN2 through the CE?
EDIT: The stuttering is back. Any other quick fixes? I've tried restarting numerous times, and running it through CE, windowed and full screen modes, but nothing is having an effect.

In the CE custom Macros, when used for spellcasting/buffing they dont operate correctly when in druid animal form. (with natural spell of course)
It seems that the macro button on the hotbar registers as an item or something, instead of a normal spell, and is thus disabled when in animal shape.
is there a workaround or fix for this?

We downloaded the client extension, but my friend didn't see my game. From looking at the posts above I see that unlike the old Gamespot I first need to get my hosted game recognised, I think by my friend using direct connect. I have a router and dynamic IP address. Do I use the router's IP address? I have port forwarding set up so that it previously worked with gamespot. Do I need a static IP address? (I hope not!)
Thanks

I've just run into an odd little problem with the CE release 1.0.0.24.
Don't think it's directly related to the CE, but it certainly involves it.
Backstory: Have been using CE 1.0.0.24 since it was released with few problems (Win 8 Pro - I have to click outside the window and back in it to recognise the keyboard). I have an original NwN2 install and a NwN D&D Complete install (which is what I use). Just never use the old install and never had a problem with it being there.
A few days ago I installed first VirtualBox then VMware Player so I could play around with a linux server/NwN1. This was the *only* change made to my laptop.
The next time I launched NwN2, it hung after phase 1 area updates on loading a saved game. Huh. Tried again. Huh. Ok, try starting a new game... Huh. Odd.
Wait. The music is different... that's the *old* music... WTF?
Tried launching NwN2 directly (D&DC version). Works fine (but don't have the CE fixes ;-P ).
Somehow, installing VirtualBox or VMware has reset something so CE launches the old install of NwN2 (no expansions). I can find no settings to adjust to point it to the right nwn2main. Even more, I can't figure out what changed that retroactively changed CE...
In the process now of backing up my NwN2 folder prior to uninstalling the old install. If I have to, I'll uninstall everything and reinstall D&DC + CE. Hope that's not needed, though...
Edit: Ok, a complete reinstall did the trick and got rid of the weird not-capturing keyboard until window re-focused gremlin to boot ;-P Still don't get what happened, though :-/
