Just wanted to say, thank you Bioware

Just want to say, thank you Bioware for catering to both audiences. Not many devs do this anymore. Most would think their PC community a afterthought. They would just port the console gameplay to PC. I am very pleased you guys are going to retain the strategic style on PC.
Time and time again, I'm reminded why I love Bioware. You are one of the few devs who cares about their community and truly interacts with them. Those are by far the greatest devs, the ones that allow our voices to be heard.
Signed, a Bioware fan forever.

I know I've been overcomplicating my arguments in favour of mainstream change at the moment, but I think it might really be as simple as BioWare are saying... the strategic combat suits the PC better, a different system feels better on a gamepad.
I'd ask for a sticky just so we have some constant optimism in this forum, but I doubt that'd happen. Thanks for that, man. Really.

I agree that we need a little more optimism on this board.

For now I am completly tranquil about Dragon Age 2.
Afterall, Bioware has been developing games for almost two decades now. They reached a place in the industry where they're free to take risks and really tell the stories they want to tell.
But still, there are some people that think Bioware is nothing more than a bunch of newborns that have no clew of what they're doing.

We've seen early pre-alpha Screenshots and everyone automatically assumes that that is how DA2 will look.
Besides, Bioware has never failed to dissapoint me when it comes to video games. I've played every single Bioware game, with the exception of NWN and BG, and absolutely loved them. Bioware is without a doubt my
favorite Video Game Developer in the world.
So Jesus people, Calm down, wait for more information, and watch the trailer when it comes out. You're only making yourself upset over things you haven't even seen, only that the devs told you about it.
So do what you want to do Bioware, You have my full support, whatever you do

Agreed with the bit in bold.
Even if they "dumb down" the game to effectively be a Golden Axe clone, you'll still know it's be the best god damn Golden Axe clone ever made:)
We all have our preferences, but at the end of the day, it'll still be a quality product.

altough i hate people who bicker about how their prefferred version is better than someone elses.
some consider the console version "dumbed down" i found it more engaging and required you to use the same amount of abilities and tactical chocies, only with less buttons. you had to plan out things. i also love how every one of archerons posts ive seen is about how console games/versions are dumbed down and for a lower class of player. grow up please. =P

DA2 may very well turn out to be a master-piece game when it comes out. The initial impression is however something that is still to be blamed for its flaw. It didn't attract a whole lot of people, because it almost served to alienate a lot of players.
Still people are feeling a bit wary after that impression.
Okay, so I'm looking forward to what the game will turn out to be. I have to admit. I was almost waiting for DA2 before DAO hit the shelves and it was mostly because of features that have already been confirmed to not be with the game. It bothers me a great deal, yes. I suppose I put the carriage before the horse.
My bad that. I hope future PR goes better to impress me to sell me on this game.

I'm going to get DA2 on the PC. So long story continuity I guess, but...I don't want to have the combat dumbed down.
I am assuming you say this because you playe dthe first on a console and are refering to your choices carrying over? If so then you should know that Bioware was wanting to allow player to carry theit choices over even if they switch systems. It was in the GI article.

Please don't dumb down the console version! Combat was not perfect, but if you make it a bad button masher I might fly to the moon.
I love GOOD button mashers like Diablo, BGDA2. But 99% of action games are terrible.

You need to play those. They should run on pretty much any PC out there as well.
If you can find the Baldurs Gate collection on DVD, it'll give you something to play until DA2 comes out.
An Epic of Epic Epicness indeed.

Make sure you play with this:

It really shows off how good the 2d artwork is. At 1080p on a big screen, it's pretty special

I have to say, I really love your outlook in comparison to what's on the forums at the moment. Most devs wouldn't bother responding to our questions in the way they have, just a few days after a launch announcement. People don't seem to be noticing how they've made the PC edition unique in its combat system.
I know I've been overcomplicating my arguments in favour of mainstream change at the moment, but I think it might really be as simple as BioWare are saying... the strategic combat suits the PC better, a different system feels better on a gamepad.

Thanks man, I just felt with all the negativity, I'd say this to Bioware. Just to remind them how much they're appreciated. They're one of the best community devs in the industry.
I think its human nature to question things. I don't think anyone in here is trying to be too negative, they're just voicing their concerns.
The only thing for Bioware to do, is release a amazing product to shut negativity up. Much like they challenged themselves with ME2. Has Bioware ever disappointed? Nope. I have faith in them.
