In psychology, there is something called priming. This is where a person's preconceived opinions and judgments (often based on inconclusive information) alter his evaluation of a given person or thing after s/he has finally meet this person or thing. For example: If you heard that Jack is a good guy, then you may be more apt to label him as daring instead of stupid, creative instead of weird, firm instead of stubborn when you actually meet him. Whereas if you have a negative notion of Jack, you going to say he's stupid, weird, and stubborn. The point is, you're preconceived attitude has a significant effect on how you perceive something. This in part, is due to the human nature of
self-justification: we want to think we were right all along.
With that said, may I just add that, in spite of all this arguments of whether DAO, ME, ME2, are good games or not, it doesn't really matter anymore. They are what they are and nobody can change that. However, when considering whether or not DA2 is going to be good or not, it's really important to note that a LARGE (not all, but more than you'd
think) part of one's experience is determined by the player him/herself.
If you want the game to be good, you can. If you want it to be bad, it will be bad. If you tell yourself this game is gonna suck, it likely will. You're only making it harder on yourself. But if you go in with even a neutral attitude (you don't have to lie to yourself and pretend to be excited about it when you're not), the game will be a much richer experience. This is not some bull**** I'm pulling outta my butt. This is psychology backed by decades of research. YOUR ATTITUDE MATTERS.
The way I see it. BW
only made the announcement a week ago or so. We don't know what the game is going to be until it comes out. You may have hated what BW did with ME2, or you may have loved it. That does NOT mean DA2 will be the same. You can convince yourself that it will, but at best, it'll be an educated guess based on inconclusive evidence and fear. We simply don't know. That being the case, I think we need to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt, just because they gave us such a kick-ass DAO if for anything else.
Say AYE if you agree.
