I'd pay for KOTOR all over again if it was updated for the new consoles. I play my xbox version on the 360 at least once a year and it's tough with all the glitchy-ness.

If you're a PC player who plans on posting "just get the PC version", don't. This isn't about the PC version, it's about the console version.

Personally, I think it would be an easy sell. You update the graphics, heck the voice work is already done, update the interface, add new weapons items, armor, lightsaber crafting stuff (crystals, etc) and drop in some new side quests, perhaps put in some of the ideas that were originally cut and BOOM, instant seller.

That way you're not changing the original story but updating the combat difficulty, level cap, force powers, items etc.

There is already a precedent within Lucasfilm itself in the Monkey Island series. Even some of the old Sierra games (KQ1 for instance) were re-released with updated graphics.

Once again, Bioware, I'd buy it and many others will too. Even those that post here that it's a bad idea and they'd never buy it would upon seeing it's glory- don't roll your eyes, you all know it's true.

Doesn't the X-box 360 have backwards compatibility?

I enjoy KOTOR, but I do not find ample reason for a remake. The first is less than a decade old.

In that it 'runs'. Doesn't ever mean it runs well.

They should do a third KotOR before of any remake.

Tell that to the guys who made "The Incredible Hulk" and "Death At A Funeral"... :innocent:

TOR is the sequel to KotOR- they've said as much in interviews.

I see. Sounds like the PC version on certain newer Windows systems.

No, TOR is a MMO set in the Old Republic era and three hundred years after Revan, Malak, Bastile, The Exile and the others, while KotOR was a RPG.

And they never said that TOR is the sequel of KotOR (they're not even the same gender, how could TOR be its sequel?), they just said that TOR is like a KotOR III, IV, V and VI altogether, in terms of the dimensions of dialogs and stories that TOR is likely to offer.

There's nerd nitpicking, and then there's nerd nitpicking. Unless someone official comes on here to correct me, from what I've read, seen and understand, BW has no interest in a stand-alone KOTOR 3 because of what they are doing with TOR.

I never said that BioWare want to make KotOR III, just that TOR is not the sequel of The Sith Lords at all, and not even a KotOR game.
It's another one who shall have some affinities and quotes from the Knights of the Old Republic story.

Instead, I know Obsidian said several times that would be glad to make KotOR III, but so far LucasArts hadn't propose them to do it.

I'd just be happy if someone transferred the KOTOR game content to work on the modified KOTOR 2 engine, that runs a lot more stable and you can take advantage of the more diverse upgrade system and better inventory screens in resolutions higher than 800 X 600

Only Lucas Arts can commission a remake so you're barking up the wrong forum.

Rather see Kotor 3 than a remake.

Really Kotor 1 is still good for what it is. It just needs a patch to be able to run on PCs better and I hear it has problems on the 360 too now.

I`d rather have a Kotor 3 (that has nothing to do with TOR), but if they did close to what God of War did and released a colections pack for the 360, with Kotor 1 and 2 (2 being finished becasue I heard that they had to cut some stuff out of the original) I would probably buy that especliy if they added some new missons to the games.

It would be cool, it an RPG based on the D20 system, hard to mess it up with a remake. Yet I don't see the point, really, the old game is just as good and can run on my crudy PC with no problems.

What games have been remade where you think that the same thing can happen to Kotor?

I'm not talking about old console games where they just took the original game and put it on a newer console with some new cutscenes.

The game doesn't need a remake.

I just never understand why a small group of people get together and think there should be a remake of a game that is 5 years old and that it could happen or that it's a reasonable request. It isn't.

I recently played KOTOR for the first time. I had always heard how great the game was and there had been comparisons between Bastila and other BW characters, so I dived in. I don't want a remake either. KOTOR stands on its own because of the story and the characters. Do I wish the graphics were of today's quality? Yes. Do I wish the game mechanics, especially in the mini games, were better? Yes. Like others have said, the game doesn't need a remake. It needs to be appreciated for what it is, nothing more.

remake would have to come from Lucas Arts - Bioware likely has NO control or input - post on lucasforums.com, the official Lucas Arts forums for games

You implying that we should start posting there and annoy Lucas Arts into giving us what we want?  If so great idea! Image IPB

I wouldn't mind a patch for PC KOTOR, which could improve a few things for modern systems.

Things that could use improving are...

1. Native Widescreen Support.
2. Support for high resolution (1920x1080)
3. Scalable UI for use with high resolution.

Ok, that is all I can think of right now, but I do get upset that I have to work to get KOTOR to play with my modern setup, and it doesn't look as good as an updated game client could provide.

I don't know much about programming, but this doesn't seem like it would take much effort.

Perhaps they could release a patch for KOTOR around new years, a few months before TOR launches.
