Perhaps the word "remake" is not the best description, a refresh is exactly what this wonderful game needs.

Just as Drum said:

1. Native Widescreen Support.
2. Support for high resolution (1920x1080)
3. Scalable UI for use with high resolution.

These things alone need to be done, it simply deserves it, if not only for the high praise and acclaim it received.

The general critical response was enthusiastic even before its release. After its unveiling at E3, it won three Best Game at E3 awards in 2001 from Womengamers, GameSpot, and Voodoo Extreme as well as ranking on Next Gen Magazine's list.[94] Since its release, KotOR has won one-hundred-twenty-six awards.[94] Forty-eight were various forms of Game of the Year Award, including Game Developers Choice Awards'' best game of the year,[95]BAFTA Games Awards' best Xbox game,[96] and IGN's Best Overall Game of the year.[97] and it was ranked 3rd on its list of the best films and video games of the decade.[98] It has also won thirty-three Best RPG Awards[94] such as the Interactive Achievement Award for best console RPG and best computer RPG,[99] and Gamespot's Best Xbox Game of 2003[100] and Best Role-Playing Game of 2003,[101] The game also won awards for its story and writing such as the Game Developers Choice Award for excellence in writing and for original character, HK-47,[95] and an Interactive Achievement Award for best story/character development.[102] IGN gave it awards for Best Sound[103]and Best Story,[104] and ranked it as the 27th Best Game of All Time.[105]In 2007, the plot twist in KotOR was ranked number two in Game Informer's list of the top ten video game plot twists of all time[106] and number 10 on Screwattack's "Top 10 OMGWTF Moments".[107] The game is also part of The Xbox Platinum Series/classics for sales in excess of 1 million units.[108] One of the criticisms of the game is that it can involve extensive back-tracking. That is, the player has to make frequent, time-consuming, in-game trips back to a previous locations along passages that have already been explored and cleared.[109]The soundtrack was composed by Jeremy Soule [110] for which he won RPG Vault's Outstanding Achievement in Music Award, and GameSpy's Best Music: PC Award.[111] The Los Angeles Times  listed Knights of the Old Republic as one of the most influential works of the Star Wars Expanded Universe.[112]

The bonus would be all of the cut content, perhaps improve the mechanics a little bit, wrap it up, and send it out. Of course, if they added loads of extra content (as I think they should), they could still implement a "legacy" option where you just play the original release storyline and mechanics with teh improved graphics and such.

If they did even just the three things that Drum suggested and didn't do anything else, I'd still pay for it all over agian, $60 as a matter of fact, for the pleasure.

And yes, some of you are correct, we need to be writing LucasFilm for this request, but it doesn't hurt to drum up interest here either to promote the cuase.

I just finished the game as well on the PC and enjoyed the game a lot. Of course I was annoyed with the constant crashing and the occasional unbalanced game play but it was still good. Now I wouldn't mind a remastered/director's cut version of the game just like what was done with The Witcher. If that's not possible I'd settle for a KOTOR 3. Currently I'm working on getting KOTOR 2.

Indeed. And I see #2 and up it to 2560x1600; would love games to support more native resolutions!

The Old Republic is too far ahead to be KOTOR 3 imo. I want to know what happens to your old party members not some lip service from some random npc.

It's probably too soon for a remake right now, but a 10th anniversary remastered edition would be wonderful. They could just update the graphics, add a little more gameplay, implement an influence system, and repackage it. It's probably just a futile wish, though.

They could do what they did with God Of War and release both in one package right before SWTOR comes out /wishful thinking

As much as many of the fans of the two games would love to see a re-make of the games it won't happen. Such is life we should just move on and enjoy the games as they are.

I never played the first 1, but they are making an MMO. I guess will see if they make a third. This is definitely a game I would love to see on the 3DS.

I think there is a bigger need to make a KOTOR 3, as 1 and 2's endings left alot of room for it. Obsidian has already stated that they wish to make it if Lucas Arts gives them the opportunity. Let's hope they will.

Well I am thinking if there is a remake, they redo the character creation.

Like Age, Build, Height, Weight, Musclar tone(fat, skinny, dancer, well tone, musclar, Bodybuilder), Hair length, Facial hair, scars and Looks(ugly as sin to Handsome).

I want a good looking Dark Sider. Not some psychotic scarred up dark jedi that looks ugly like sin. And not all jedi should be good looking angelic superheroes.

While LucasArts does have a history with remakes (X-Wing & TIE Fighter were remade in the X-Wing Versus TIE Fighter engine, and the first two Monkey Island games were recently remade) I doubt they'll remake Knights of the Old Republic. Honestly Knights is fine as it is, and remaking KotOR would be a far more expensive and time consuming undertaking than remaking X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and the Monkey Island games. KotOR is much larger in scope than those titles, and it's just not practical to remake a game that large in which most people have little trouble running on modern PCs and the XBox 360.

According to Bioware and Lucas Arts, the MMO they are making is KoTOR 3. I know everyone wants a single player version of the game but it ain't happening. They went MMO for the 3rd installment. Sorry to all of you who want a 3rd game, it's already here just in MMO format. Kind of like how Final Fantasy went MMO with FF11 and will be going MMO again with FF14.

But can you imagine how beautiful it would be, if they updated KOTOR to the level of present-day visuals?  I finished Mass Effect for the very first time last week, and going through the ending, I kept saying to myself... "how cool would it be to see Bastila, Carth, Mission, HK-47, et. al. through the Mass Effect engine?"  *sigh*

Good now go beat the second ;)

If they did remake the game they might go ahead and remake it on the same system as the MMO

I would love to have Revan be fully voiced; who would everyone pick to voice him/her if they're to do a remake?

I would love a remake. The story is great. But the d20 mechanics are so terrible for the computer. So, change both that and the graphics in a remake and I would be happy =).
