If DA2 new combat system works out then they should bring that in to the remake.

kotor was a great game in every aspect. I don't think that a remake would live up to our expectations, because it will never be a first time again. Actually there hasn't been a videogame for me that was so catchy as kotor was since then.

The only things I've enjoyed more than KOTOR are the Baldur's Gate series and Planescape Torment, and I have never replayed PS:T

I was disappointed with KOTOR 2 TSL and would like to see that game re-released as a finished product.

The devastating audio skipping on 360 completely ruined both the jedi training cutscene and the end cutscene for me. The video runs, the dialogue crawls along at 1/10 of the pace of the video, and then the video ends before Vandar can say even half of what he's supposed to say.

I'd buy an updated Kotor. They don't have to do much. Do some updated textures, skins, whatever and fix the glitchiness. That's it. Playing KOTOR 1 on the 360 is a nightmare and I can't find my old xbox.

I'd pay for KOTOR all over again if it was updated for the new consoles. I play my xbox version on the 360 at least once a year and it's tough with all the glitchy-ness.

If you're a PC player who plans on posting "just get the PC version", don't. This isn't about the PC version, it's about the console version.

Personally, I think it would be an easy sell. You update the graphics, heck the voice work is already done, update the interface, add new weapons items, armor, lightsaber crafting stuff (crystals, etc) and drop in some new side quests, perhaps put in some of the ideas that were originally cut and BOOM, instant seller.

That way you're not changing the original story but updating the combat difficulty, level cap, force powers, items etc.

There is already a precedent within Lucasfilm itself in the Monkey Island series. Even some of the old Sierra games (KQ1 for instance) were re-released with updated graphics.

Once again, Bioware, I'd buy it and many others will too. Even those that post here that it's a bad idea and they'd never buy it would upon seeing it's glory- don't roll your eyes, you all know it's true.

Yea, I want to see a remake of Kotor and Kotor 2 developed by BioWare not Obsidian Entertainment.

I was so thrilled when I found out that KOTOR would have a sequel and then when I found out it was going to be made for PC instead and it will be a MMORPG, I just freaked. I'm going to miss Atton, Mandalore and so many characters!

The reason why they probably stopped making console based KOTOR games was because of Mass Effect? I don't know but my theory is, Bioware already has a space sci-fi game and it would be a large investment of time and effort in their part to create another game with the same kind of element.

How about this Bioware? After the trilogy of Mass Effect is finished, maybe you could start another KOTOR installment to keep us Bioware RPG fans satisfied until you plan to release another Mass Effect saga which hopefully won't take too long like Duke Nukem.

I wouldn't mind a patch for PC KOTOR, which could improve a few things for modern systems.

Things that could use improving are...

1. Native Widescreen Support.
2. Support for high resolution (1920x1080)
3. Scalable UI for use with high resolution.

Ok, that is all I can think of right now, but I do get upset that I have to work to get KOTOR to play with my modern setup, and it doesn't look as good as an updated game client could provide.

I don't know much about programming, but this doesn't seem like it would take much effort.

Perhaps they could release a patch for KOTOR around new years, a few months before TOR launches.

I concur, also, updated texture resolutions and character models.

I've been trying to get my KOTOR game to run on my PC for years and it won't work anymore. I fully support a remake and would pay to have it. Who knows, Halo 1 is getting a remake...

For those wondering, there was a KotOR3 in the works. The developer (can't remember if it was Bioware or Obsidian) was definitely interested in doing it, and it was quite a bit along, with planets and characters already lined up and written when Lucasarts pulled the plug during their big financial problems back in the mid-2000's, deciding to take the franchise in other directions instead. AFAIK, there are no plans to reopen the series at this time, rather moving it forward with SW:TOR. That is not to say Lucasarts will not be interested in doing so sometime in the future, or that there are not plans in place behind the scenes to do so, but at present there is no plan for a KotOR3 in the public realm as far as I'm aware, nor is there likely to be for at least a couple of years imo.

I am just replaying KOTOR xbox on the 360 and just thinking to my self if they did do a remake how much the graphics could be increase and the facial exprecions could be fixed. Also having a voiced main character like mass effect would turn many a heads back to this game.

It's not Bioware's jurisdiction on KOTOR being remade (though they do carry impact). It is up to LucasArts to get their heads off their asses, talk to Sony and Microsoft about having a remake on the online networks, and hopefully have Bioware remake the game in HD with improved graphics and 60 frames per second.

The game doesn't run well on Windows 7 or on the 360 so they need to patch it. I doubt if it will run at all on the next XBOX (supposing it comes out anytime soon). It would also be nice to have widescreen support.

They aren't going to create a new SW game that will directly compete with their SW MMO.

I would be happy just to see them re-release KOTOR as a 360 updated version as it is now packaged with the Yavin 4 content since you can no longer download it. The 360 release would allow it to be modified just to quit from freezing and the other other common issues that the 360 has with backwards compatibility. Upgraded my system to the new slim model a few months ago and can't get the DLC content for it anymore and it pretty much is unplayable with the freezing up and reloading back to the game title when it doesn't freeze whenever you try to leave the first headquarters on my 2 machines. So much pain to see such a great game sitting in the game rack unplayable and can't get rid of the game since it is such a great game that I loved.

I'd be very excited for a "remaster" or remake or whatever you want to call it of KOTOR. It will most likely be in my top 5 favorites for many many years to come.

I'm also a huge fan of the dialog system from Mass Effect. It was great in that game, great in DA2, and I say put it in the remaster if you make it.

New character creator, at least comparable to ME/DA if not better. New weapons/armor/items etc. A lightsaber building mini game couldn't hurt either; I've just had this idea of tons of parts splayed on a workbench and then assembled in any number of ways to create a unique model to play with. I don't know how that would actually be implemented, if it can be done at all but it would be great. And of course a great toolset release for PC mods, can't do without that.

Some say that we shouldn't live in the past and should be pushing for developers to create NEW things and leave the classics where they are. That's true enough for most games I think, and I am excited to see new projects come along, but this is definitely one that deserves an update in my opinion. I would buy it no question. Be it $40, $50, or $100.

It's good too, but not as great as the first. You will definitely enjoy yourself more if you bought it on PC so you can take advantage of the mods. If not, it's still a good, if a little incomplete.

I really hope we get an updated KOTOR someday. Not necessarily a remake but just an updated version with better graphics, a character creator, lightsaber customizer, etc etc. If I made a gaming wishlist an updated KOTOR would be my #1, it's still BioWare's best game in my opinion.

I recently bought kotor 1 on the steam sale for 3.50 - I love it (first time i've ever played it in fact) but I just keep thinking about how much better it would be in high definition. The textures really need an update and there is a framerate problem - though I think thats because of my computer. I'd love a remastered edition on all platforms (kind of like what happened with monkey island), so I can play it on my ps3 but well... we'll just have to hope lucasarts allows it (and with force unleashed 3 being cancelled I highly doubt it).

I really don't think that a remake would be a good idea, but I'd love to see GOG get their hands on KotOR. It takes a bit of work to get it working right on Vista, and, as far as I know, it's impossible to get it to work on 7.

Hopefully LucasArts is the next publisher signed up to GOG. SW: KotOR is basically all I'm missing on there(and Ultima 7) and my old retail copy is a bit painful to get working.

It seems Lucas himself has a bit of a few hates for his Star Wars series, I'd really like to see KOTOR 1 and 2 being run on Mass Effect's Unreal 3 engine.
