If recent rumblings about a Jade Empire remake have any merit, I'd say a next-gen KOTOR remake would be awesome, however, since it's not an IP, it's probably not worth Bioware's headache of dealing with Lucasarts. I've resigned myself to the fact that one of the best Sci-Fi RPG stories won't be getting the sweet console treatment.
TOR is not a replacement for KOTOR. I am getting TOR, but in my mind, it will never be KOTOR 1.
KOTOR Remake... please?

I'd rather a new game was made than a remake. There's nothing quite like walking into some of those big plot moments from BioWare's games. I absolutely adore KotOR and, whilst I'd love to see Bastila and Revan in today's graphical quality, I would rather explore a new storyline and experience new revelations. Perhaps a game that takes the approach of the upcoming Revan novel, where we can follow his/her path into the Unknown Regions.
But, with TOR on the horizon, I doubt we're going to see a true KotOR 3 any time soon. If at all.

You get around to reading the book ? It's pretty final on Revan, Bastila, and the Exile's fates. So no game around that story. A remake would be really awesome. Of course I'm always up for anything new involving Star Wars, and will snap it up when it comes along, but a remake of game like this one is needed I say. It's epic enough that it needs a new paint job to be appreciated even more.

I have recently been playing KOTOR2 again on xbox 360 (found it at a car boot sale). KOTOR2 was not as good (storyline wise) to KOTOR but is still a great game (dispite all the lag I am getting Im enjoying more than most RPGs I have played recently)!! Having recently seen the Metal Gear Solid HD edition, they should do the same for KOTOR 1 & 2 (I know different publishers but come on guys work together!) I would snap it up and would even be willing to pay £40 for the privilege!! KOTOR was the game that got me into RPGs and nothing has compared (for me) since. Even Oblivion and Skyrim, which I love, does not get me going as much as KOTOR. Is there anyway to create a petition to show Bioware/obsidion and Lucas arts how much it is wanted by a very loyal fanbase!!! I don't have the time to play MMOs and prefer to play single player games (although that said a co-op mode like they have in Fable 3 or Dead island would be very welcome!!) but is not the be all and end all!! I would create the petition but I am a computer mong (it took me 45 minutes to work out how to reply on this!!) Think of it this way if there was a re-release HD versions of the games, im sure they would sell well, better than most new games, this would show the powers that be that there is a hugh market for KOTOR3. That being said unfortunately I don't see it being done, forgive my scepticism but I think the reason they have concentrated on an MMO is the £7 monthly subscription you need to pay to play (I bet that helps a lot with the annual turnover!! shareholders and dividends be praised!!). The days of providing a service to a fanbase out of loyalty and the wish to please the customer has gone, it has been replaced by corporate greed and the search for the highest profit margin! (sorry rant over). We as the fanbase need to make this happen and need a focal point (I would do it but I really am a computer mong!!) Look if people all able to stand up to their governments to instigate regime changes at serious danger to their life. Surly we can convince Lucas Arts to commission a HD remake, at the end of the day it will mean more money for them without paying a massive amount for the creation of a new game!! And once they see how many people will quite happily pay money for a 10 year old game with a facelift I’m sure in will convince them to make KOTOR3!! (personally I believe they should move away from the Revan story line and look to create a new protagonist, maybe some time between KOTOR2 and the new TOR game (dam MMOs to hell!!)
P.S yes I am loving Mass Effect series, but nothing compares to a lightsaber and wielding the force!!!!

I would love to have a K1/2 remake.
Obviously they would need to do "more" than just update the graphics and engine. The storyline would need to be expanded also for both games (or completed in respect of K2).
I had a thought that what they could do is do it as "one" game but in three parts a bit like Starcraft 2...
Have the expanded updated K1 form the base of the game, then release patches/dlc to expand the game while developing a proper completed expansionary K2. Do the same for that (patches and DLC) while developing K3 (telling the story of what happened to Revan and the Exile - I know there is the comics but it could make a great game too) which would be released as a 2nd expansion.
It could work...

Improved game play is important. Also at least 8 or more total visitable planets post Dantioone.
Unique ablities for all characters.
Stronger faster and smarter enemies.
More Lore/Gameplay intergation. For Example, having Darth Bandon living up to his reputation as a Jedi Killer by having him killing several jedi starting from Endar Spire to the Final confrontion.
More intelligent lines from Revan.
Several more ways to Roleplay Revan.
Example:
Brainwashed: An intensely Loyal Republic trooper with an high opinion of the Jedi. Strong LS
Amnesia: A cautious person that has no loyal for the Republic or the Jedi but has a intense hatred of Malak. a good blend of DS and LS. Genre Savy about Revan when s/he is confronted about his/her past, Revan is not surprised that s/he is revan.
Old Master: Master of Taijutsu. Surprising knowledge of both Jedi and Sith. Able to talk to Zhar and other Jedi and Sith Trainer more wisely and intelligently.
New Playable characters
New Romances.
Play up other characters within the Ebon Hawk Crew as badass even Mission and T3-M4.
For Example, Having T3-M4 gun down, ram and run over many Enemies in one battle.
Extended Levithan Escape Scenes. In that Canderous Leads everyone in Victory and having Canderous killing a Dark Jedi BattleMaster with his bare hands.
SideNote: Jedi BattleMaster is a specialization for Jedi Guardian that are both capable Military commanders and Lightsaber Instructors. So they do have many good buffs to strengthen allies and knowledgeable about many lightsaber forms.
So Jedi Guardian Revan and Juhani can learns this specialization as well many NPC ranging from Master Zhar to Uthar Wynn to several many non named Dark Jedi master bosses.

I accept you have some very good ideas, however I Believe it would be one thing to give the current KOTOR games a face lift, and quite another to start changing elements of the game play and adding narrative points. As someone who just wants to play the original game without all the lag while supporting wide screen and in HD we will get a quicker release date if they did just that. Once lucasarts sees how much interest there is in an updated re-release it could then persuade them to make a new KOTOR game altogether which could include some of the points you have added. Like I said some good ideas, but we have to be realistic and changing the story of the original and the game play would take a lot more effort and time and is highly unlikely. Even if they don't do a HD version, produce a patch (preferably for xbox 360) so I can have a battle sequence with multiple enemies with out lag which makes the game unplayable. I want to play this game so much I am looking at potentially buying an original xbox again just to play KOTOR.

I do want Revan and everyone in the Ebon Hawk crew, Each of them take out a high ranking overpowered enemy.
Show don't tell why each of them are bad-ass. Also gives everyone some screen-time for everyone's favorite characters being bad-ass.
Lightsaber wielding Ewok for the Lulz.

I hope for KOTOR 3. SWTOR was a letdown for me. It was nothing like the big story of KOTOR and much of the story for my favored class was a big "who cares?!?! I am going to fall asleep!!!"
So I am hoping for some over the top, overpowered, galactic joy ride as is the Kotor tradition. Nothing beets force storm + Force speed + force wave against waves of bad guys!
Here is to ragedoll physics, more dynamic force powers and epic lightsaber battles against impossible odds because the galaxy is at stake.
A remake would be acceptable to me if Bioware was not sure they could duplicate a fitting new story. Finding out that the big problems around you are really just your mess and that you can be and are the unstoppable means to end your own monstrous creation was epic.

with the Remake, it would be 1 to 1. then add new planets and new side quests. New Enemies. Each enemy will employ an different way of fighting and different resistances.
Scoundrels, Scouts and Sentinel enemy types will flank and attack. Also will lay Mines and snipe.
Jedi Consular Enemy types will generously use the force ranging from All of the Force buffs to offensives force abilities.
Jedi Guardian and Solider types will use more straight forward tactics and mostly hard tanks and good DPS.
Excellent blaster weapons.
Much more deeper game play.
Overall Diffculty should be quite hard.
Easy: Quite Hard. All Enemies will be a level above you and at least 200 health points above you. They will use items including med packs, Poison cure packs, grenades and mines. good team work.
Medium: Greater Hardness. All Enemies will be 2 levels above you and at least 350 health points. They will use all items and Excellent teamwork.
Hard: Superb Hard. All Enemies will be 3 levels above you and at least 400 health points. They will use all items and use Superb teamwork.
As for game mechanics, there will be more feats to play around with that are approiate for Hard Core verison of Kotor 1 special edition.
Base classes will get Assault Training. Assault Training feat 1 will give all blaster weapons an increase of +15. And at AT Feat 2, it will give +30 to all blaster weapons and AT feat 3 it will give +45 to all blaster weapons.
All weapons specialization will still be there. Also All weapons will be stronger. Blaster weapons will be the strongest, Lightsabers will be strong, Melee weapons will be strong. I do support Kotor 1 with Hardcore mode(where even Easy is still hard and medium is harder and Hard is insane.), New feats and abilities to match Hardcore mode, Smarter Enemy A.I., New Enemy types including the Bounty Hunter, Krath and other, More Planets,
All classes have more unique feats. Scout gets an Updated Uncanny Dodge that uses Dexterity Modifier to avoid all damage to a certain degree.
Limited cross over feats: Solider and Scouts having Sneak attack feat. And Scoundrel class can get all of the Sneak Attack Feats. All Scouts should at least 3 feats of Uncanny Dodge automaticly when they level up. Where as Scoundrels and Soliders only get 2 feats of Uncanny dodge in which they have to use a Buy Feat Feature to get it.
New feats:
Run And Shoot: For Scoundrel fans, These feats will allow the scoundrel to get a massive bonus to attack when an ally is attacking an enemy. One of potential interchangeable passive stance is that when standing within so many meters of an ally and targeting the same enemy, both the Scoundrel and said ally will get the same critical bonus, attack or damage bonus, depending on the Scoundrel's all 4 interchangeable passive stance.
Dedicated Stealth Tree: It allows the Scout and Jedi Sentinel to scout ahead to set mines, repair droids, hack computers and ambush lone enemies.
Warrior: This is for both Jedi Guardian and Soldier. Increase Health Regeneration, Increase Awareness, Increase Melee Weapon DPS, Increase Unarmed DPS, Increase Ranged DPS.
Specialization:
All characters will have 1 specialization tied to them in some form and a martial art.
Revan: Jedi Shadow. Jedi Shadow would have unique feats depending on what class Player choses. Revan as a Jedi Shadow will be influenced by the Jedi class heavily. And Revan will still retain the 2 specialization due to the Jedi Shadow will be a feat tree and not a true specialization.
Bastila: Jedi Champion: An idealist and protector of the Jedi Order. An Expert of the Lightsaber and strong in the force. Jedi Champion strives to live the Ideals of the Jedi Order by understanding the Lightsaber, the Force and leading people.
Carth: Republic Pilot: As a Republic Pilot, Carth trains himself on a regular basis with twin pistols and a blade in each hand. Also Demands of a Republic Pilot, Carth has to keep himself in shape and knowledge in basic surivial tactics if he is downed behind enemy lines.
Mission: Tarisian Theft: As she is growing in the Mean streets of the Lower city, she learns from her older brother the important skills to surive no matter the odds. Few of the skills of the skills she learned is pickpocketing, Slicer, Stealth, Security, Awareness and Treat Injury. Also Combat skills, how to hit another sentient where it hurts regardless if it is unarmed, Melee weapons or blasters.
Zaalbar: Wookiee Berserker: Wookiee Berserkers are a timed honor traditions for Wookiees to master and use their Wookiee Rage in their martial arts including Wrruushi. It is common place for a Noble to become a Wookiee Berserker due to the honor placed on the Wookiee Berserker. Even a low class wookiee can become a Noble by training to be a Wookiee Berserker.
Canderous: Mandalorian Neo-Crusader Commander: As a Neo-Crusader, Canderous developed his leadership and combat abilities by leading Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders and Crusaders into battle. Both Crusaders and Neo-Crusaders are consider to be Berserker traditions due to their aggressive nature.
Hk-47:Droid Commando or Droid Assassin. Thru Revan's actions, Hk-47 can become a Brave Droid Commando or Sneaky Droid Assassin. Either way, Hk-47 will be an engine of destruction.
Juhani: Cathar Hunter: Juhani's race of Cathar are known within the Cathar community for their stealth and blending into the enviroment at hand. So many of these stealthy Cathar often become hunters, spies, scouts or other that uses their natural stealthy abilities. Juhani learns about her heritage of the Cathar Hunters and Scouts to compliment her training as a Jedi Guardian.
Jolee: Jedi Hermit: Many years living in the shadow land, Jolee learns how to mask his tracks and learning how to use all of the herbs and other things to live within the Shadow Lands. The many years there gave him a unique outlook on the force.
T3-M4: Blaster DPS or Tanking: Either way, T3-M4 is still epic.
Force Forms:
Quey'tek meditation: A Stealth Force Form that was practiced by both Jedi and Sith.
Force Channel: It embodying the standard meditation techniques learned by all Jedi, Channel was the only Force form generally utilized by non-Consulars. Jedi Master Kreia described the technique as "a gift," as it provided a modest boost to one's connection while carrying no real vulnerabilities.
Force Potency: This Force form was offensive in its very nature, enhancing a Jedi's ability to strike others with the Force. One could attack foes more powerfully, but doing so quickly left the Jedi feeling drained. It was most compatible with adherers to the dark side of the Force, as Force "attacks" were usually manifestations of hatred or other dark emotions. Even so, a light Jedi could use this form to decisively resolve a conflict if speed was the priority.
Force Affinity: This Force form was the ideal form for a Jedi who was required to maintain a steady focus on the Force. It allowed the Jedi to rest in his or her connection in even the fiercest fight, in a manner that would normally be available only in peaceful meditation and away from distractions. This was an endurance form for the Jedi; one could remain guarded while an enemy expended energy and eventually tired. For this reason, it was most effectively used in alternating cycles with other Force forms, with the Jedi recovering strength before launching a counterattack against a weary opponent.
Force Mastery: Despite its impressive name, Force Mastery form was not limited to those with vast expertise in the Force, though its practitioners would hope to convey that idea. One's command of the Force would indeed have more powerful effects, enhancing the Jedi's own physical abilities for a sustained period while weakening the enemy's resolve against Force attacks. However, the effort of this form severely weakened its user, not only draining the Jedi but also limiting his or her ability to defend against the Force powers of others. Some who were not very proficient in the Force would assume this form, appearing to have more of a mastery than they actually did.
All 5 of these Force Forms can be used while using Martial arts and Lightsaber forms.
Remember how Palpatine quickly taken the Jedi Masters out with his lightsabers while using the Force.
He was using Juyo and Force Mastery Form.
Feats:
Master Dueling
Master Conditioning
Weapon Focus: Light Saber.
Gear:
Light Saber: Good Attack Bonus, Good Damage, Keen and Massive Critical.
Sith Lord Robes: Increase Force Regeneration.
So within the Game itself, it should be possible to have your character to develop a Palpatine Build for your Dark Jedi Consular
Jedi Consular:
Specialization:
Phantom: A highly Stealthy Jedi Consular with good critical strikes.
