Next screen - click on the "Skip this ad" in the upper right hand corner.
Next screen - click on the Neverwinter Nights 2 link in the alphabetical list of games.
Next screen - you will find step-by-step instructions on how to configure your router to allow network traffic in/out for NWN2 multiplayer.

A. Steam does not set up your cdkeys for you, they give you one set which only works in single player. The server needs no cdkeys, but the client does. Are you able to join other PWs which are already working.
B. The nwn master server is down, which means logins and passwords just will not work. This is per bioware a temporary issue, and was caused by hackers attacks ( similar to what happened to sony and quite a few other companies). This does not seem a priority to fix, but bioware is a pretty decent company so they will eventually take care of it, and you have to remember this is a very old game published and developed by companies which are not related to bioware in any way.
C. Firewall, routing and other issues are really networking issues. www.portforward.com is where to look up this info. When set up properly, it all just works, but you have to know what you are doing and put in quite a few ports. You also have to remember that usually you have to use a different address inside your firewall as opposed to outside, and gamespy will publish an address that only works for people on the other side of the internet. To connect to your own PW which you are running on your own computer ( or attached to your router or modem ), you either have to direct connect, or use the LAN browser. This is not really anything to do with the game, but has to do with how routers and the internet works -- works exactly the same as NWN1 in fact.
D. Skywing has NWNx plugins which completely rewrite the server's stability and networking. They won't fix the issues you are having, but they are pretty much required to make a working PW ( the nwnx plugins use official functions for scripting and the like ). You also want to host files via dropbox.com, and read the entire autodownloader pdf, as well as any stickies related to these things here.
Setting up a PW is not the easiest thing to do, and you have to have some background knowledge in networking to make it work, or get some help. I have been working on a tool which will configure the ini files, sets up a windows service, installs the required libraries and makes all of this a lot easier. But even then it still does not help set up your firewall / router properly.

i tried to switch the keys and it worked. My Steam Key1 was Key3 and Key2 was Key1 and Key3 was Key2.
You can try it fast if you put in your Keys and just change the Key(1) numbers

This assumes you are having trouble connecting, if it ain't broke this does not apply to you, and this seems to be specific to this particular ISP.
The router in the original post is a Netgear DGN1000, not sure if this applies to other routers.
Go into your webbrowser and type 192.168.0.1
[or 192.168.1.1 for many other router types, or look in your network settings for what is set as your gateway address.]
Then click on the ADSL settings under the setup tab,and change multiplexing method from VC-based to LLC based.

me and a friend want to play the OC via Internet.
As this is the first time ever we are playing a game over the Internet, we are a bit overwhelmed by the tons of information that got together here over the years. Now it is a bit hard to tell which part of it applies to us, which part is only relevant to PW-Hosts/Players, and what is necessary to do now that Gamespy is out of the whole system.
I would also like to install or modify as little as possible in order to get everything to run smoothly.
If anyone could point out what is necessary to get this running, we would be grateful.
We have each an up to date intallation of NWN2+SOZ+MOTB, running on Win7.
One of us would host the game, then we would do all the port forwarding business as described on the portforward website. Do we need Skyfall's client extension?

The Client Extension fixes a number of bugs and I would recommend using it, although it is not strictly required (the CE will not make any permanent changes to your game install, and is only active if you launch the game with the CE). You can use the Direct Connect multiplayer menu option to connect to the external IP of the game host to join a game directly.

Hello all. I'm not sure where to post this but I am having difficulty connecting to Multiplayer so I thought this would be an appropriate place to put this questions so here it goes.
I am unable to connect to the multiplayer servers. I click the multiplayer button, login, and then it tells me that the master server is not available. I click continue anyways and I still don't see any servers. Are the servers down? Has the Multiplayer for NWN2 been disabled like with NWN1? Any help or answers would be much appreciated
