Just a little OT. Can anyone tell me what the shrines in the Forest just before you choose the Inn or the Temple are? They trigger when you get near them making pools of light around you. What do you do with them?

They set any ghosts that get too close to them on fire. Useful if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by the enemies.

I'd give my left nut for Jade Empire 2. (not the right one though)

Edit! While I'm at it, this whole ME and DA sell better so no more JE thing is bogus. Not every game will fly off the shelves right away. Even with today's newest games, I find Jade Empire to be one my favorites, and play it more than DAI. In fact, I'd say I have more fun playing it than DA2 and DAI. It's tough to say that about DAO, though. That game's just plain amazing, since you have a life before and after the game, in addition to the Archdemon being the final boss.

ME wasn't insanely popular right away. I wouldn't even have it if I hadn't decided to see if ME2 was any good, but now I own and love them all.

However, considering how old JE is, and even with it's dated graphics (literally), I adore Jade Empire! I mod it every friggin day. The Black Leopard School, the Imperial Arena, the awesome old-school flying mini-game, the lore, the story, the many kick-ass styles, the morality system, the romances (instant love for Dawn Star), the moddabiity, the combat system (even if a little stiff and rough with a 360 controller), the dialogue (especially!), the fact you go to Heaven(s), and even die, and go to the afterlife, Lao's Furnace, the Jade Master second playthrough option.....everything in Jade Empire is fantastic! Graphics weren't great, but this game is OLD, and it is, even now, very easy to forgive when the game is this good. If JE released a DLC for it right now, I would buy it.

That's it, I can't talk about it anymore. I'm gonna finish this Blossom mod and play it!

I am super on board with this - besides never say never, the ever changing landscape of gaming means that the time may be ripe for either a sequel or reboot of an old but forgotten classic.

I honestly would like to see a Jade Empire 2, I'm not sure if it will maybe take a Legend of Korra approach and feature a brand new generation of heroes interacting with characters from the original game, but if not, that's how I would do it.

The problem is, what else can Bioware do. They already had an interesting idea of the dead rising up and begin taking over the living, why not perhaps have something involving the main characters actually travel IN the spirit world. That would visually be an awesome experience with lots of possibilities including characters from two different worlds try to understand each other.

Oh, there's a ton of stories to offer in the universe of the Jade Empire. It's a rich world that you really can just poke and get new ideas - for the sake of continuing a story, they'd probably canonize the Open Palm ending in a new game (not like there's likely to be any carry over options, considering we're two game generations removed from the original release), so there's what becomes of the Jade Empire after Sun Lian's rule, or the rebuilding of the Spirit Monk order, or something happening out in Phoenix Gate, which is said to be in the 'Prosperous East' (seriously, we were teased so much about this, I thought it was a guarantee we were going there)...

This is a rich universe. The fact that it's been ten years since they tapped it is baffling to me.

Right, they could explore untapped aspects of their own lore or just look to China's and other far eastern cultures' obscenely rich history, literature, mythology, etc. for more ideas.

The only question is if the storyteller is interested in going back to that setting, not whether there are stories to tell in that setting.

Recently took advantage of the free download and finished my first playthrough.  Thought it was great...especially considering its age.  I've always enjoyed fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter but rarely buy such games because of the lack of story.  Jade Empire really satisfied that.

So count me in for JE2.

I want to this game made more than any other bioware game besides KotOR 3. I'm a huge fan of both the ME and DA franchises, but neither of those game series captured my heart as much as JE did. I would pre order a sequel in a heart beat. I say we fans unite and boycott all bioware products until this game is made ;) . Or start a croudfund to get the ball rolling.

Original Mirror's Edge was kind of similar: fan favorite but not huge commercial success. Now that EA and Dice are rebooting Mirror's Edge maybe Bioware could reconsider same approach with Jade...?

If I could fund them to make JE2,I really really would! I'm only an hour into this game, and I'm already loving it. Just like Mulan, this game is one of the very very very very few that shows the Asia fantasy thingy we love. I guess a lawsuit would be involved between 2K and BioWare when it comes to which should make JE2,since BioWare made the game while with them...but anyway,if it's between those two,I vote for BioWare. Because I know 2K's styles, they can be a juuust a little bit too violent. And Martial Arts is not about violent,it's about the beauty & strength of human body.

Yes,yes,yes!

I would very much like to see a Jade Empire 2 as well. I found it very enjoyable, and the whole oriental setting was refreshing, and I thought fit very well with the star wars style dark side, light side engine of the time, and I am sure would do well.

I guess it may not have the appeal of another ME, [ Hopefully with a better ending ]. But I think it would be a mile stone setting, as apposed to the constant Medieval, European, Modern age special task force or Space Ace setting which every game out there seems to use.

I would buy it... Thats pretty much all I can say about this :D

Hell... I would buy remakes of any Bioware game (...excluding Star Wars... since I dont really like Star Wars... nothing to do with Bioware :D

Update stuff... leave pretty much every story aspect the same... and I would still buy it :D

I would absolutey love Jade Empire 2 but I just can't see it happening. http://www.vgchartz....s=0&results=200 The 1st only sold 700,000 copies worldwide. That was not enough to warrant a sequel back then in 2005. Unfortunately, a martial arts combat Asian setting RPG is a niche market and no way EA would take the time and money to have Bioware make the game. Besides all that it has been almost 11 years and if there was a sequel we would have it by now.

Facts aside if I had the money I would offer to fund it myself. Jade Empire was an amazing game and such a unique setting as opposed to the usually space sci-fi or medieval fantasy RPG settings. Honestly if they did a HD remake with achievements on the Xbox One I would throw my money at it.

Whishful thinking: Maybe the free givaway on Origin was a way to gauge interest in Jade Empire and, in turn, are considering a stunning sequel.

Let me keep that thought, please.

Man how I long for a jade empire 2, but I don't think it would actually be a good idea, bioware is just not the same company anymore. Don't get me wrong I still love bioware and will continue to support the games they create, but there's something about the way they tell their stories now that just won't compare to the paint strokes of the old days. Instead of jade empire 2 we'd probably end up with a modernized dragon age 3 looking piece of work. Eff that. Just plz for the love of God, give me an HD remake for consoles, and same with kotor. The sheer amount of demand for it makes it seem like a no brainer to me. And even if it isn't as "no brainer" as it looks to me, what the hell else do we have? A two year wait for the ME? C'mon! Give us some love bioware!

The only other game I could possibly look forward to more than the FFVII remake is Jade Empire 2.  But that's only if it Bioware decides to get their **** together.

I've just played Blade and Soul for a couple of months by the sole reason I miss Jade Empire so much. Jade Empire Lore, brightness and quality of writing combined with the BnS fighting style and avatar flexibility (and, erm, less juvenile dress code), and the art style that is incredible in both games, would have been so exceedingly awesome... and if it also expanded a bit from Chinese folklore towards more od the South East Asia....  Okay, now I have this dream game that I will never get to play.... :)
