And I even have to say: it's better than Dragon Age or Mass Effect
I really really hope, there will be a second Jade Empire. *crosses fingers*

The artist who did JE is doing DA2 . . . but that's not enough. We need Jade Empire 2!
I agree its a start in the right direction. I am wondering if we fans got together and decide to write our own story for Bioware for a JE 2 game and see what they think if it. It would be long and very detailed, but I'm up for the task. I've only got 10 hours a week to give to this cause sense life is busy, but I'm willing to put in some work, but before I do. I have to get the game again. I'll be getting it some time in August for PC. I just don't have it right now. I know hate me, but I am keeping an eye on the group and the threads for right now.

I too admire your enthusiasm but I don't see it happening, at least not that way.
1) First off, I don't see how you're going to engage them. They pay John Doe in the "creative department" to generate ideas for sequel number 87654435535353 for DA or ME, not to spend hours on end reading some script for a game they almost forgot they ever made. So the Bioware/EA guy who's going to lay his eyes on your work will have to do it on his free time. Mind you, he/she will also have to be high enough in the food chain to get things moving. Tough...
2) Even if 1) is not a problem, there's still the issue of IP. Once they aknowledge they read your script, you could - in principle - sue their butts off for any of your ideas they use in any game (unless it's something absolutely trivial or they can prove in the court they didn't get it from you). I'm not saying you will do that, but there's always the possibility. To avoid that they would have to share royalties with you, something that might not go smoothly. Either way, I don't think they are going to bother. Of course I could be completely wrong...

Now I've got to spend the rest of the night trying to find my CDs so I can play it again.

Well actually if it went to court I would loose and probably go to jail for copyright in frigement. Mostly because Its their game.
But I could still try to write a decent story for the a sequel and maybe even get my name in the credits. I would love that more than money. I mean my ultimate dream is to help write a Bioware game, and have my name put in the credits, but I'm more of a movie writer and I'm just starting off. INDIES RULE.
But I its still worth a try to maybe write a fan fic which is horrible. Put some real research behind the idea and then makes a characters which would make a fan want more.

Sure kotor was great but Ive played jedi countless times and mass effect, nothing new really. No more Sci-Fi or Sword and Sorcery theres enough of it already. Stop recycling the same old bumf and bring out the next part of the game that made me buy an xbox.

Explain this to me? I'm a little confused by what you mean enunciation. Where was this in the game?

Even though I quite enjoyed dragon age, there was nothing in the world I haven't seen a thousand times before. Sure they can replace orcs with darkspawn, and pretend it's something original, but same old same old.
And even though I grew up watches every kungfu movie I could get my hands on, Jade Empire was indeed a breath of fresh air when it comes to a new and exciting setting.
So yeah give me JE 2 over DA 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 anytime.
But sales are everything, and people want their elves and dwarves and darkspawn/orcs
Still I remain hopefull, Bioware main selling point is storytelling, and they're great at it. So if they get that right, and I don't see why they wouldn't, whatever setting they would choose to have the story take place in wouldn't really interfere with sales.
So I say, give us JE2 already!

Just joined the group, and I give my full support to this thread. It was an awesome game, I'd love to see sequel! Although I think BW won't announce it quickly... But I hope they eventually will.

While I wouldn't say I like it better than Dragon Age or Mass Effect, I think it offers a different universe that's much more different than those other two games. Dragon Age is, at its heart, your basic Dungeons & Dragons style game. Mass Effect is your "Star Wars" type game. There really isn't a comparable setting to Jade Empire that I can think of. That's the biggest reason I want to see more games of its kind.

I think the weird part is. Somewhere in the background I have a feeling there is a team working on the game right now. Just Bioware is keeping it super secret. Hmmm. I wonder?
Sometimes I think the same way, but then the other, more rational side of my mind steps in and tells me it won't happen. If it does, I hope it won't be a botched sequel, or a game so different from the original that it will end up having nothing to do with Jade Empire as we know it.

Story wise Im not sure how they could make a sequel due to the endings of Jade Empire 1. Dont get me wrong, its possible! Im all for a prequel even. I know rpg elitists think Jade Empire is a dumbed down RPG but even they have to admit the world and story in Jade Empire 1 was pretty amazing and I put it up there with KOTOR story.
